For six decades, his career has been an act of quiet rebellion. In the early ‘70s, Trower announced his fearless streak by leaving the security of Procol Harum for a gold-selling solo career whose “Bridge Of Sighs” album filled the stadiums of North America. Since then, he's flowed from his own projects to collaborations with everyone from Jack Bruce to the United State Of Mind supergroup alongside Maxi Priest and Livingstone Brown. Their groove, in songs like “Dixie Chicken,” “Spanish Moon,” “Fat Man in the Bathtub” and “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now,” was so infectious it allowed them to endure and press on even when losing Founder, Lowell George and Founding Drummer, Richie Hayward. With their latest album “Sam’s Place” released in 2024, they are in top form now with Scott Sharrard on lead/vocals and Tony Leone on drums/vocals, and with Founder, Bill Payne on keys/vocals, Fred Tackett on guitars/vocals, Kenny Gradney on bass and Sam Clayton on percussion/vocals. Powerful and playful co-vocalist of beloved new wave dance combo the B-52s, Kate Pierson comes to The Parker on Friday, February 28th at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series. Pierson has continued to embody qualities like empowerment and inclusivity with her own spirited Alternative Dance music. Before launching her solo career, she had spent close to 40 years as a member of the iconic Athens, Georgia group before she decided it was time to step out with her first solo album, 2015's “Guitars and Microphones.” She navigated Dance-Rock, Indie Pop, Disco and more on the likewise diverse follow-up album “Radios & Rainbows,” released in 2024 featuring collaborations with Sia, Chris Braide, Jimmy Harry (Madonna Grammy winner), Tim Andersen (Ima Robot), Bleu McCauley and Adele bass player Sam Dixon. • Hallandale Beach State Of The City Of Hallandale Beach Part 2 | sun-times

Hallandale Beach State Of The City Of Hallandale Beach Part 2 By Hallandale Beach Mayor, Joy Cooper Jun 11, 2025 Last week was part 1 of my State of the City of Hallandale Beach, this week the series continues. Abortion and Immigration were also dividing issues. Let’s face it both the Republicans and Democrats are at fault for this mess. At least we do not forget the “almost” deal. Then the uncertainty with President Biden’s health and his removal of his candidacy. Trump won. President Trump, who lost to Biden, came back. And he did in a “Big”…“Very Big” way exercising the power of the White House excluding other branches of government. Voting is very personal but during the two weeks of early voting. I listened to the voters and learned. What was really alarming to me was some voters simply sat it out not voting for President at all. We are seeing more and more people changing parties or simply opting for No Party Affiliation. Our Nation's democracy is and will always be messy. We do need to be vigilant. We need to respect different views, defend our Constitution, respect the branches of government to ensure a balance of power. Preserve due process. As a Mayor, I have served this City during both Democratic and Republican Administrations. I like ideas from both sides of the aisle. I will say in my opinion the super majority of all Americans were not not ready for this ride. We went from one roller coaster to another. I’m not talking the old coney island ones, I’m talking new ones. One with upside down seats, double loops and corkscrews. As with all processes, “The devil is in the details.” The only certainty now is uncertainty. We as a City are not trained in Immigration Law and policy, nor paid to perform ICE’s duties. This job is a federal function. Counties and some cities enter into interagency agreements with ICE. We as a city certainly do not get in any agency’s way of performing their duties. In Florida, there was a special session to change Immigration Laws. The state increased penalties for coming to the state illegally. The level of punishment for fraudulently voting and other criminal activities have been elevated. For Capital Felony crimes there is now the death penalty. There is no more free state tuition for undocumented students. Our major sticking point and concern with our City was taking our officers off their daily duties fighting crime to doing another agency’s job. This would directly impact crime and staffing levels without any considerations. We fought and now there are training dollars so local Law Enforcement can understand Immigration Laws and policy. There is also a $1,000 bonus to officers that end up participating in helping ICE operations. The other big change on the federal level was the Department of Government Efficiency-DOGE. At first, when Musk was appointed my hopes were that he would work to increase efficiency through departmental reorganization and improve technology in a methodical way. God knows they need it. This would mean firing inefficient employees but no one saw massive cuts. Sure, there is waste but many agency jobs serve the most vulnerable like our Veterans and seniors. We are still watching to see what the impacts will be. In Florida, I like to say we have been double DOGE’d. I wish they would truly DOGE themselves. No disrespect to other electeds in the audience. Have you tried getting a Driver's License? Tried to get a response from the Department of Business and Professional Regulations? I have not heard any large announcements from the State DOGE office but I am sure with over 410 cities and over 1,900 special districts they will find some findings. We were DOGE’d and I am proud to share. Our 2024 Budget of over $200 Million dollars that included over $80 Million Dollars in Projects and Robust Reserves went through our 2024 Annual Audit with zero findings. I’ll say that again zero findings. So what are the true threats we are facing as a City? Uncertainty, inflation, tariffs, cuts to the National Budget, limited Grants and the Governor’s push to cut Property Taxes. National Cuts have become clearer this past two weeks. The White House released a 46 page memorandum which was forwarded to me along with all of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Executive Board. Yes, I read it – Remember Verify. The cuts will impact everyone in some way or another. Many line Budget items were either totally eliminated or drastically reduced. Medicaid cuts are huge. While it does not impact our City functions it will impact the most vulnerable. In our district like many others children make up 55% of the Medicaid roll. Yes, it is shameful individuals will not receive care but there are other broader implications. In the grand scheme cuts to Medicaid impact service providers, doctors, nurses and hospitals. Social Security was left whole and untouched. The Veteran Administration Budget was actually increased. Mainly to implement an overhaul in technology for improved medical record management and access. Also they will allow Veterans to go to Non VA hospitals. DOE was slashed while keeping Title One programs preserved. Quality schools matter to our cities. Funny all the talk about cutting DOE there was $60 Million Dollar in Charter School funding. All school costs will now be passed directly to the states. Obviously full elimination of energy saving programs dubbed the “BIG GREEN LIE.” This will impact our ability to apply for Federal Grants which have helped with the progress of the Cloud Mini Bus System. We are still working to build our fleet charging facility. In the County the plan to go after Federal Grants to build out EV charging stations has already been shelved. As always, I am available anytime for your questions, concerns, and ideas to make our City a better place on my Phone/Text at: (954) 632-5700. Or you can email me at: jcooper@cohb.org . • Alleged Anticompetitive Practices Harming Florida Families - Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier Issues Subpoena To CVS Health Corporation And Caremark | sun-times

Alleged Anticompetitive Practices Harming Florida Families - Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier Issues Subpoena To CVS Health Corporation And Caremark South Florida Sun Times Jul 2, 2026 Attorney General James Uthmeier Today Issued A Civil Investigative Demand To CVS Health Corporation, Owner Of Both The Caremark Pharmacy Benefit Manager And Hundreds Of CVS Retail Pharmacies In Florida. “Florida families and seniors deserve access to affordable medication and real pharmacy choices—not a system rigged by one giant corporation that may favor its own stores and squeeze out competitors,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “This investigation will uncover the truth and protect fair competition for all Floridians.” “Floridians expect a health care system that works for them, not against them,” said Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Shevaun Harris. “The Attorney General’s action is an important step toward that future, and AHCA is proud to stand alongside this effort to ensure accountability of PBMs.” “The Attorney General’s action today sends a clear and necessary message: the era of unchecked PBM abuse in Florida is over,” said incoming President of the Florida Pharmacy Association Aneesh Lakhani. “My patients deserve better. Florida deserves better. The system wasn’t broken, PBMs broke the system. We will not rest until they are held fully accountable.” Pharmacy Benefit Managers like Caremark control which drugs are covered, how much pharmacies are paid, and where patients fill prescriptions. The three largest PBMs, including Caremark, handle about 80 percent of U.S. prescriptions. CVS Health’s ownership of both a dominant PBM and more than 9,000 pharmacies nationwide—including roughly 800 in Florida—raises concerns about self-preferencing and vertical integration. The probe examines whether CVS/Caremark steers patients to its own locations, reimburses its affiliated stores more generously than independent pharmacies for identical prescriptions, imposes burdensome audits that claw back payments, and enforces restrictive contracts that threaten small businesses. Such practices allegedly contribute to pharmacy closures and “pharmacy deserts,” leaving families and seniors with fewer options and higher costs. The Civil Investigative Demand requires thousands of documents and sworn testimony on reimbursement rates, pharmacy contracts, patient steering, audits, rebates, differential treatment of own versus independent stores, and expansion plans. Compliance is required by Tuesday, July 28th, 2026. This action ensures fair play so no company harms Florida families by limiting choice and inflating the cost of essential medications. • 10 Reasons Foodies Are Hungering For SOBEWFF 2026 - Why The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s 25th Anniversary Is A Culinary And Cultural Can’t-Miss Event | sun-times

10 Reasons Foodies Are Hungering For SOBEWFF 2026 - Why The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s 25th Anniversary Is A Culinary And Cultural Can’t-Miss Event By Merilee Kern, MBA Feb 19, 2026 Every February, Miami Becomes Something More Than A Destination. It Becomes A Stage. For Four Days, The City Transforms Into A Living, Breathing Celebration Of Food, Culture, Music, And Creativity As The Food Network South Beach Wine And Food Festival Presented By Capital One Returns With Unmatched Scale And Energy. In 2026, That Transformation Carries Extra Weight. SOBEWFF Is Celebrating Its 25th Anniversary, Marking A Milestone That Reflects How Far The Festival Has Come And How Deeply It Has Shaped The National Culinary Conversation. What began as a regional food gathering is now one of the most influential experiential platforms in the country, drawing more than 500 chefs and celebrity talent and tens of thousands of attendees annually. It is also a powerful engine for education, having raised more than $45 Million to support Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. This year’s programming is bigger, louder, and more immersive than ever, stretching across Miami Beach, the mainland, and beyond. In a crowded festival landscape where many events feel interchangeable, SOBEWFF stands apart because it has never treated food as a silo. From its earliest years, the Festival has understood cuisine as culture, a connective force that brings together entertainment, travel, philanthropy, and education in ways that feel authentic rather than manufactured. That philosophy is especially visible in this 25th Anniversary Edition, where the programming feels less like a retrospective and more like a forward-looking snapshot of where food, hospitality, and live experiences are headed next. SOBEWFF 2026 is not resting on legacy. It is using it as fuel. If you love food, travel, culture, or simply being where the energy is, here are ten reasons SOBEWFF 2026 belongs at the top of your calendar. 1. It is not just a festival. It is a full-scale cultural takeover. SOBEWFF does not simply host events. It redefines Miami for four days. From sunlit beachfront tastings to late-night DJ sets and chef-driven spectacles, the Festival blurs the lines between culinary celebration, entertainment, and destination travel. The 25th Anniversary amplifies that ambition, expanding the Festival’s footprint and layering food with music, pop culture, and nightlife in a way few events can match. With more than 105 events on the schedule and talent spanning food, television, fashion, and music, SOBEWFF feels less like a weekend festival and more like a citywide experience that rewards curiosity and appetite in equal measure. 2. Mike’s Amazing Burger Bash is a legend for a reason. Thursday night’s Mike’s Amazing Burger Bash presented by Schweid and Sons is more than an opening event. It is a rite of passage. Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the Burger Bash brings together top restaurants from across the country, each vying for ultimate burger bragging rights. Hosted by Rachael Ray, with Brooklyn Peltz Beckham joining as co-host and debuting a special dish created exclusively for the event, the evening blends competition, indulgence, and star power. A judging panel that includes Gayle King, Ashley Graham, Bert Kreischer, and Nick DiGiovanni ensures the stakes are real. Thousands of burgers later, one chef walks away with the coveted title, and guests leave knowing they just witnessed one of the most iconic moments in American food festivals. 3. Wine Spectator Trade Day sets the tone for what comes next. Friday afternoon’s Wine Spectator Trade Day hosted by Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits offers a sophisticated counterpoint to the Festival’s more raucous moments. Designed for industry insiders, this event is where conversations happen, palates are challenged, and trends begin to crystallize. Producers, distributors, and professionals gather to taste, connect, and exchange insights that ripple far beyond the Festival weekend. It is polished, purposeful, and quietly influential, reminding attendees that SOBEWFF is as much about shaping the future of food and drink as it is about celebrating the present. 4. Guy Fieri turns competition into pure spectacle. Friday night’s Coca-Cola presents Tournament of Champions hosted by Guy Fieri delivers Food Network adrenaline at full throttle. This is a culinary competition designed for a live audience, complete with high-energy judging, bold flavors, and theatrical flair. The addition of a live performance by Rev Run elevates the night from cooking show to cultural event. It is loud, fast, and unapologetically fun, capturing the spirit of Miami while showcasing the intensity and creativity that define modern food entertainment. 5. The Grand Tasting Village is the beating heart of the Festival. Saturday and Sunday afternoons belong to the Goya Foods’ Grand Tasting Village featuring Publix Culinary Demonstrations sponsored by Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove. Hosted by Sofia Vergara and Manolo Vergara, the Village is a sprawling culinary playground where guests can wander, taste, sip, and discover at their own pace. Live demonstrations, brand activations, and endless bites create a choose-your-own-adventure experience that rewards curiosity. Saturday’s addition of a Ja Rule performance on the Only in Dade stage underscores how seamlessly SOBEWFF blends food with music, turning a daytime tasting into an all-out celebration. 6. FoodieCon adds global flavor and travel inspiration. Saturday’s FoodieCon presented by The Islands of The Bahamas brings a distinct sense of place to the Festival. This immersive experience blends culinary storytelling with travel inspiration, spotlighting island flavors, culture, and creativity. It is a reminder that food is one of the most powerful gateways to understanding a destination, and that SOBEWFF is as much about exploration as it is about indulgence. 7. Masters of Fire taps into something primal. Saturday night’s Masters of Fire hosted by Tyler Florence celebrates cooking at its most elemental. Live-fire techniques, bold flavors, and dramatic presentations come together in an event that feels both ancient and modern. Flames flicker, chefs push boundaries, and guests experience food in its rawest, most visceral form. It is a standout moment that proves why fire-driven cuisine continues to captivate chefs and diners alike. 8. Tacos and tequila take over the Miami Design District. Saturday night’s Tacos and Tequila presented by Tequila Cazadores hosted by Aaron Sanchez brings the Festival into the heart of the Miami Design District. This ticketed event combines bold Mexican flavors with flowing pours and a late-night vibe that feels effortlessly Miami. It is social, celebratory, and perfectly timed for those who want to keep the energy going long after the sun sets. 9. Sunday’s finale honors legacy and celebration. Sunday evening’s BACARDI presents 25 Years of Legendary Bites and Iconic Sips hosted by Andrew Zimmern is both a look back and a toast forward. The event celebrates the Festival’s history while embracing its future, pairing thoughtfully crafted food with expertly mixed cocktails. Preview Reception: In Connection Thursday, July 16th, 2026 | 6:00 p.m. Exhibition: Shape, Break, Build Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA) Friday, July 24th, 2026 – Saturday, September 19th, 2026 Curated by Luna Goldberg, Shape, Break, Build presents a decade-long exploration of material innovation by artist Luke Jenkins. The exhibition showcases Jenkins' ongoing experimentation with reclaimed wood, utilizing techniques that range from CNC carving and thermal modification to sandblasting, inventive joinery, and even the transformative effects of termites. Through works that move fluidly between sculpture, furniture, and conceptual art, Jenkins examines themes of decay, resilience, adaptation, and renewal. By embracing both craftsmanship and chance, Shape, Break, Build reveals the dynamic relationship between artist and material, inviting audiences to consider how transformation can emerge through both intention and natural processes. Opening Reception: Shape, Break, Build Friday, July 24th, 2026 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Exhibition: Carried Home West Gallery, Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA) Friday, July 24th, 2026 – Saturday, September 12th, 2026 In Carried Home, artist Luke Jenkins examines the remarkable journey of Cryptotermes brevis, a termite species native to Chile's Atacama Desert that traveled across oceans within the wooden ships of early European colonization before ultimately establishing itself in South Florida. Originating in the driest place on Earth, Cryptotermes brevis survives today within the kiln-dried wood used to build homes and structures throughout South Florida. Because it cannot survive in moist natural ecosystems, its existence here depends entirely on human-made environments, creating a fascinating story of adaptation, migration, and survival. Through reclaimed wood marked by termite activity, alongside carved wood, ceramics, and paper, Jenkins explores themes of movement, hidden histories, and interconnected environments. Drawing connections between ship structures, desert landscapes, termite colonies, and local communities, the exhibition transforms termite damage into a visual record of loss, resilience, and shared histories. By combining patterns created by hand, machine, and insect, Carried Home invites viewers to reconsider how seemingly invisible journeys continue to shape our environment and collective experience. Carried Home was made possible with support from the Broward County Cultural Division. Additional support has been provided by the Community Foundation of Broward through the Helen and Frank Stoykov Charitable Endowment Fund and the Mary and Alex Mackenzie Community Impact Fund. Opening Reception: Carried Home Friday, July 24th, 2026 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. West Gallery, Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA), Register All exhibitions are free and open to the public. • "Ozempic Makeovers" On The Rise - Dr. Meegan Gruber Addresses Post-Weight-Loss Skin Laxity With Awake Body Contouring | sun-times

"Ozempic Makeovers" On The Rise - Dr. Meegan Gruber Addresses Post-Weight-Loss Skin Laxity With Awake Body Contouring Newswire.com Aug 12, 2025 The Explosive Popularity Of Glp-1 Weight-Loss Medications Such As Ozempic®, Wegovy®, And Mounjaro® Has Transformed Obesity Care And Created An Unexpected Cosmetic Challenge. Rapid Fat Loss Can Leave Patients With Loose, Sagging Skin On The Face, Arms, Abdomen, And Thighs. In Response, Dr. Meegan Gruber, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon And Founder Of Gruber Plastic Surgery, Is Witnessing A Dramatic Uptick In Requests For What Social Media Now Calls The "Ozempic Makeover." A New Cosmetic Reality for GLP-1 Users Clinical data shows a 40 percent year-over-year increase in consultations for tummy tucks, arm lifts, and comprehensive liposuction among patients who have lost significant weight through semaglutide therapy. Nationally, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reports a 50 percent surge in fat-grafting procedures to combat "Ozempic face," underscoring the magnitude of the trend. "GLP-1 drugs help people shed pounds fast, but skin elasticity can't keep up," Dr. Gruber explained. "Patients feel healthier yet suddenly confront excess skin that diet and exercise can't fix. Our goal is to complete the transformation safely and restore confidence." Awake Plastic Surgery: Safety and Convenience Most post-weight-loss body-contouring operations at Gruber Plastic Surgery are performed with the clinic's trademark awake-surgery protocol, tumescent local anesthesia without IV sedation. "Because the patient remains conscious, we avoid airway manipulation and the risks of delayed-gastric emptying that accompany general anesthesia," Dr. Gruber said. "That means GLP-1 users usually do not need to stop their medication, whereas traditional surgery requires a six-week pause to protect against aspiration." Dr. Gruber emphasizes realistic expectations: topical creams and injectables offer modest improvement, but substantial skin redundancy typically requires surgical excision. During in-depth consultations, patients receive guidance on timing surgery, usually three to six months after weight stabilizes, and on maintaining high-protein nutrition and strength training to support healing. One recent patient, a 42-year-old mother who lost 85 pounds on semaglutide, described the emotional impact: "I was thrilled about my weight loss but discouraged by the extra skin on my arms and stomach. Dr. Gruber's awake tummy tuck and awake arm lift let me finish what the medication started. I feel like myself again." Looking Ahead Industry forecasts and clinical inquiries alike suggest that GLP-1 medications will continue driving demand for both surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic solutions. Dr. Gruber plans to expand regenerative offerings such as platelet-rich plasma and radio-frequency skin tightening to complement surgical care. About Gruber Plastic Surgery Gruber Plastic Surgery, located in Tampa, Florida, is led by Dr. Meegan Gruber, Ph.D., Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon renowned for her pioneering work in awake plastic surgery. Dr. Gruber, also the star of "Awake Surgery," which you can stream today on TLC GO, HBO MAX, Hulu, Discovery+, and other streaming platforms, integrates advanced techniques and cutting-edge technology to deliver safe, comfortable, and natural-looking results with minimized recovery time.
