His work graced major advertising campaigns and appeared in leading publications such as Vogue, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar and Mademoiselle. Since the 1980s, Azoulay has devoted his artistry to documenting Miami’s ever-changing skyline, creating photographic collections that capture the city’s most significant structural transformations. His images serve as a visual guide to Miami – revealing the city from above as an intricate network of systems and from the ground as a series of everyday monuments. On Friday Night, Holiday In The Park by our Hallandale Beach Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. Participants enjoyed family friendly activities, holiday crafts, community performances, visits with Santa, holiday music, inflatables, amusements, food trucks and more. On Saturday, the Police Athletic League (PAL) of Hallandale Beach and our Hallandale Beach Police Department had their annual Shop with A Cop, it was a great success giving kids an experience of shopping for the holidays with our officers. Great job to everyone making the holidays a little brighter. Friends at Foster, hosted a Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Foster Park 609 Northwest 6th Avenue, Hallandale Beach, Florida 33009. Join us in wearing holiday colors and celebrating our Police staff. Please arrive@11:45 a.m., lunch will be served promptly at 12:00 p.m. They will continue with a fun 50/50 raffle, giveaways and much more. In the past, I have written to address residents’ concerns about the much-needed repairs to our Infrastructure. This maintenance and repair is what is currently taking place. This week, Water Service in Golden Isles Safe Neighborhood District / Layne Boulevard will briefly experience intermittent service interruption due to the installation of New Water Meter Boxes and Service Line connection to the New Water Main on Layne Boulevard. Work will be conducted from 12/09/2024 to 12/20/2024. No Precautionary Boil Water Notice will be in effect once the water service has been restored. Thank you for your patience as we completed this necessary Water Main Work. Our Staff in the Department of Public Works have been busy developing strategic plans to address our City’s Infrastructure. We have been focused on our lift stations replacing, repair and water main projects. Our city was founded 95 years ago and many of our underground pipes are over forty to fifty years old. The current preliminary plan projects an 8 – 10 year build out of the most critical priorities. Replacing and repairing pipes is just one part of the equation. This work also requires work above-ground. While we obviously must repair the road where work is done, we have a goal to complete our streets. This work includes sidewalks, ADA Compliant Crosswalks and Lighting. Unlike many newer planned developments in our city, when builders built housing and commercial developments, they were not required to perform this work. The Commission now requires improvements through Development Agreements and Impact Fees. Even with these requirements there are areas in our city that do not even have sidewalks and streetlights. Many areas have not even had repaving for years. Staff came back with a goal of evaluating and plan repaving. The Public Works team is working on our three-to-four-year plan for roadway improvements which will cover specific streets in every quadrant of the city. I instructed Staff to begin to address specific streets in the beginning of this year in February to March.” As Mayor, I do want residents to understand that this type of work does not happen overnight. We have heard and listened to our residents and as a resident myself, I would like to see it performed. In the coming years, we will continue our work on a Government Obligation Bond to fund above ground needs. Currently we are working within our budget and will work with other agencies for funding and grants. Hope For the Holidays is back! Picasso & Max: These Two Will Will Start Your Year Off With Love December 27, 2023 Share Can you say handsome boy? Max is just gorgeous and so unique! This polka dog fellow is a sporting dog, possibly part pointer, with lots of energy to go on adventures with you. He is super friendly with everybody and seems to adapt well to any environment. Some of his favorite hobbies are doing the zoomies, playing with toys, and learning commands for treats. Max is crate trained and he is just a puppy at one year of age. Max would do well with another dog friend of equal energy. Come and check out Max to see if you and he are a good fit. This one-year-old, black and white, emerald-green eyed beauty was transferred to the shelter from another facility, so his background is a mystery. He is only 8 1/2 pounds and loves getting lots of pets and snuggling in his bed. Adopting a pet is not a one person decision. Make sure other members of your household are aware you want to add a pet and should meet the pet before you decide to adopt. Also consider: • Does anyone have allergies? • Are other members of the household, including children, afraid of animals? • Are you expecting other members of the household to share in the care of the pet? Another factor to consider is cost. The initial and on-going costs of a new pet can add up. These costs include: Adoption fees, Food, Grooming, Obedience training, Pet supplies, and Licensing. Additional veterinary care such as diagnostic testing and preventative medication can add up in the future, so make sure to take this all under consideration prior to adopting. These costs can easily be $200-400 or more within the first few weeks of adoption. The Humane Society of Broward County recommends that you do not immediately expose your existing pets to a new pet. Facilitating positive pet-to-pet introductions will require some management on your part. Not all pets are instant friends and may require temporary or intermittent separation to ensure a smooth transition. Some pets are happy to share their home within a week or two, others may take a month or longer to adjust. Our adoption staff will be happy to review steps to properly introduce your new pet to your resident pets. All dogs and cats making the transition to a new home will need time to adjust to a new family and may require house training and behavior training to correct problem behavior. If you aren’t prepared to invest your time to teach your new pet appropriate behavior and help the animal adjust, you should not consider adopting a pet at this time. Positive reinforcement-based training is recommended for all newly adopted dogs and puppies. Please make a lifetime commitment to your pet. Remember that the animal you choose has already been abandoned or unwanted at least once in its life. Dogs and cats may live 12 to 15 years or more. Your thoughtful consideration, preparation and commitment will help ensure a lifelong placement.
