The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Special Performances

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida launches its 2026–2027 Season with Classical & Neoclassical Ballets at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Sunday, October 4th, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. This inspiring program brings together internationally acclaimed choreography, beloved classical masterpieces and contemporary works that showcase the extraordinary versatility of the company's artists. The evening opens with Venezuelan choreographer Vicente Nebrada's Pentimento, an evocative abstract ballet inspired by the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Audiences will also enjoy the exhilarating Spring Waters, Asaf Messerer's virtuosic masterpiece set to Sergei Rachmaninoff's passionate score. Another highlight of the evening is the United States premiere of Maestro Vladimir Issaev's Four Seasons, an exquisite collection of four pas de deux choreographed to music from Giuseppe Verdi's Les Vepres Siciliennes. The program also welcomes the return of Corpus, choreographed by Venezuelan Choreographer Lusian Hernandez to Frederic Chopin's Rondo a la Krakowiak. Concluding the evening is Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida's first presentation of the magnificent Raymonda Grand Pas. Set to Alexander Glazunov's radiant score, Marius Petipa's celebrated masterpiece is one of the great jewels of the classical ballet repertoire. From poetic contemporary expression to the splendor of 19th-century classical ballet, Program 1 – Classical and Neo-Classical Ballets offers an unforgettable evening that celebrates the enduring artistry, innovation and excellence that have become the hallmark of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. A free 30-minute pre-show discussion takes place at 4:30 p.m. inside the theater. A valid ticket for the corresponding performance is required to attend the pre-show discussion.

The City of Aventura opens its 2026 - 2027 Season in a partnership with FUNDarte and Miami-Dade County Auditorium with El Perro del Hortelano (The Dog in the Manger) at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Friday October 9th, 2026, Saturday, October 10th, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 11th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Written by Lope de Vega, the play is a comedy of desire, jealousy and power. Countess Diana of Belflor prides herself on her independence and rejects all noble suitors until she discovers her secretary, Teodoro, is in love with Marcela, one of her ladies-in-waiting. Caught between pride and passion, Diana sets off a clever and dangerous game of manipulation, in which words become weapons and love becomes a contest of control. Witty, seductive and sharply observed, this Spanish Golden Age classic explores the line between desire and refusal, revealing how love, ambition and social class collide onstage and off. The production is presented in Spanish with English subtitles and is not appropriate for children age 4 and under.

Migguel Anggelo’s acclaimed ICONS series returns to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center with a dynamic new concert celebrating the music that has shaped Latine culture worldwide. Led by Anggelo’s unmistakable voice, humor and theatrical flair, ICONS: Latin Rhythms is a joyful celebration of songs loved across generations. The performance is 8:00 p.m. on both Friday, October 16th, 2026 and Saturday, October 17th, 2026 and features music by artists including Ruben Blades and Oscar D’Leon, alongside Anggelo’s original work. The show blends classic sounds with modern style through fresh arrangements, unexpected mashups and playful surprises. Directed by Adrian Alea, with musical direction by Jaime Lozano and an all-star lineup of musicians and special guests, this vibrant concert is a celebration of rhythm, connection and culture.

The City of Aventura partners with FUNDarte to present La Velada: An Alchemy of Past and Present as part of the FL.Flamencos series, co-presented with the Miami-Dade County Auditorium Away From Home series, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Saturday, October 24th, 2026 at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 25th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The performance explores the meeting point between traditional Flamenco and the present moment. Inspired by the legacy of Flamenco and those who came before her, Marta Galvez transforms inherited movement and memory into a personal, contemporary expression rooted in history yet distinctly modern. Born in Spain, Galvez began her Flamenco training at age three and earned a degree in Spanish dance before continuing her studies at the Andalusian Dance Center. She has performed with leading companies and artists, including David Coria, Maria Pages, Ursula Lopez, Jose Porcel and Juan Carlos Avecilla. Her honors include the Outstanding Dancer Prize (2015) and the Young Flamenco Artists Award from the Provincial Council of Cordoba (2023).
