It’s Time for the City of Hollywood Cardboard Boat Race - Join in the fun this Saturday for the City of Hollywood’s Annual Cardboard Boat Race and watch cardboard boat crews compete in their boats made of cardboard! The race sets sail on Hollywood’s North Lake on Saturday, October 5th at 10 a.m. at the Hollywood Marina at 700 Polk Street.

Join in the fun this Saturday for the City of Hollywood’s Annual Cardboard Boat Race and watch cardboard boat crews compete in their boats made entirely of cardboard! The race sets sail on Hollywood’s North Lake on Saturday, October 5th at 10 a.m. at the Hollywood Marina at 700 Polk Street.

Landlubbers will gather to cheer as the cardboard boat crews paddle in head-to-head competition for the coveted trophies in categories such as: “People’s Choice,” “Fastest Vessel,” “Most Creative Design” and “Most Spectacular Sinking.”

All boats must be built off-site and in advance. Check in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the races begin at 10:00 a.m. and continues until the last boat docks.

See the innovative designs and witness the sheer will to win all the racers share. Be amazed and amused as they speed across the water in their quest for the ultimate prize -- the coveted trophy. The fun begins at 10:00am sharp!

Holly-Go Free Community Shuttle
The free community shuttle service is underway! Four shuttle routes are now operating 7 days a week, except for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

Orange Line (BCT Route 766): Operating between City Hall/Central Library and Margaritaville Beach Resort, Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Estimated cycle time: 43 minutes.

Red Line (BCT Route 770): Operating between the Walmart SuperCenter on East Hallandale Boulevard and Hollywood North Beach Park on A1A, Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday - Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The schedule will shift the Off-Peak Season to Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Estimated cycle time: 24 minutes.

Blue Line (BCT Route 764): Operating between City Hall/Central Library, Young Circle and Pembroke Road daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Estimated cycle time: 39 minutes.

Green Line (BCT Route 765): Operating between Kay Gaither Community Center, Hollywood Plaza and Memorial Regional Hospitals North and South daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Estimated cycle time: 54 minutes.

The shuttles, provided by Broward County, will accommodate 34 passengers, feature bike racks and offer ADA Accessibility. Powered by propane gas, these shuttles provide an Eco-Friendly transportation option.
