The City of Sunny Isles Beach is once again shining a beacon of opportunity for its high school seniors through the coveted College Scholarship Program. Each year, this initiative elevates the aspirations of diligent and ambitious students, offering them a gateway to higher education and a chance to shape their future. In 2024, the applications have swung open, inviting the young minds of Sunny Isles Beach to seize this golden opportunity.

For the young scholars yearning to pursue their dreams of higher education, the City of Sunny Isles Beach offers a series of scholarships that celebrate academic excellence, community service, artistic flair, and athletic prowess. These scholarships stand as a testament to the city’s commitment to nurturing talent across various domains.

The Opportunity
The prospect of acquiring financial assistance to pursue higher studies is a pivotal moment for any student. The City of Sunny Isles Beach recognizes this, and hence, has earmarked several scholarships to reward deserving candidates:

Service Scholarships: Reserved for two outstanding students, each awarded a $2,500 scholarship. These scholarships are dedicated to individuals who exhibit both academic brilliance and an unwavering dedication to serving their community.

Mayor Norman S. Edelcup College Scholarship for Excellence in the Arts: A $2,500 scholarship presented to a high school senior whose passion for the arts illuminates their journey. This scholarship seeks to celebrate artistic excellence and creativity.

Chief Fred A. Maas College Scholarship for Athletic Accomplishment: Awarded to a high school senior who embodies the spirit of athleticism, this scholarship honors dedication and accomplishment in the sporting arena.

The Application Process
Eligibility for these scholarships mandates a residency of at least one year in Sunny Isles Beach before January 1, 2024. Additionally, applicants must be graduating seniors enrolled in either public or accredited private schools. A minimum of 100 hours of community service, preferably within Sunny Isles Beach, is also a prerequisite.

The application deadline is Tuesday, February 20, 2024, by 5 PM. It's imperative that all submissions are completed and comprehensive, including a 200-300 word essay based on the designated topic. For those pursuing the Service Scholarships, a demonstration of community involvement is key, showcasing their commitment to making a difference.

All applications must be complete and submitted by Tuesday, February 20, 2024 by 5 pm. Scholarship winners will be personally notified in March 2024.
