  • Mold & Water Damage Experts: 1st Priority Restoration Will Work Directly With Your Insurance

Mold & Water Damage Experts: 1st Priority Restoration Will Work Directly With Your Insurance April 21, 2022 Share If your home has been damaged by water from a leaking pipe, intruding water from all the current rains or mold damage from moisture over time. How are you going to address these problems in your home? A Restoration Company such as 1st Priority Restoration is usually the first company to call following significant damage to a home from floods, water damage, sewage backup and other major water events. The job of a restoration company is to clean up the mess and to preserve the home, protect the home and its contents so that further damage will not occur. Flood damage can be found in any geographical area, regardless of elevation. The causes of flooding can range from natural disasters, burst pipes, leaking pipes, rain storms or sewer lines that are backing up. Even in a condo, you could have a water leak in your wall, under a toilet or behind a kitchen cabinet creating mold that can cause damage to your property and your health. 1st Priority Restoration can find the source of the leak, fix it, restore your property and work directly with your insurance. Regardless of the cause, restoration professionals are called upon to repair water damage, mold damage and restore flooded properties. The water damage restoration process is highly regulated in order to ensure that properties damaged by flood or sewer events, can be effectively restored to a safe space for a homeowner to remain safe during the cleanup. You need a company such as 1st Priority Restoration who you can trust to do the job correctly. The process is simple, when 1st Priority Restoration arrives, they will thoroughly walk through your home and discuss the areas that need to be cleaned & restored to their original condition. Your insurance company adjuster or claim representative may recommend what and how your home should be cleaned, but in the end, it is your decision to make. In the past year, we have all heard the word “Mitigation” more times than we can count, but with water damage, that is exactly what needs to be done. Water damage restoration does not stop at restoring your real estate back to proper functioning. The professionals at 1st Priority will inspect the underlying causes that have caused the water damage in the first place and make sure there won’t be a reoccurrence. They will repair all of the damaged structures and replace the materials to make your property safe, for years to come. If your property has been exposed to water damage, you may have to do water mitigation. Strict actions are required in water mitigation, such as: removal of damaged materials such as drywall and flooring. Molds and mildew that have accumulated in areas in your property will be disinfected and deodorized to restore a healthy environment. Further cleaning and deodorizing should be done to make sure that your real estate is back in tip-top shape. Water damage mitigation should happen immediately after flooding or water buildup. Take action immediately, because letting your property sit in water can cause further damages and expenses. Materials soaking in water collect microbes and spread water-borne diseases. Furniture, wood flooring and walls will crack, sag and collect fungi after prolonged exposure to moisture. If your property is particularly old, it may be time to replace materials such as pipes to prevent a reoccurrence of water damage. If pipes are behind walls, it may require more extensive repairs. The water mitigation process will depend on how long your property has been exposed to water. Air humidifiers and drying equipment must be turned on around the clock in areas with severe water damage. Mold spores are especially dangerous to health and thorough cleaning and disinfecting should be done as part of the water damage mitigation. It is advisable to get the temperature, humidity and moisture of your property tested to see if it has been restored to normal standards, 1st Priority professionals can handle the entire process. After 1st Priority Restoration evaluates the work and equipment needed to clean your home, they will provide you QUICKLY with an estimate or contract/services. LEAK DETECTION: One tiny water leak can create huge problems. An undetected water pipe leak will not only dramatically increase your utility bills, but it can also lead to even more expensive water damage and mold. If you’ve had higher than average water bills, constantly have to refill your pool or hear running water, it’s time to call the leak detection specialists at 1st Priority Restoration! Is water pipe leak detection possible if the pipes are behind a wall? Yes, using the newest state-of-the-art detection tools, highly trained technicians are able to locate water pipe leaks that are hidden behind walls. They can even provide water plumbing leak detection within concrete slab foundations. Will insurance cover the cost of plumbing leak detection services? That all depends on your home's insurance plan. In many situations, when there is a need for water damage restoration, many insurance companies will cover the related costs. 1st Prior-ity Restoration representatives can work directly with your homeowners insurance to verify the need for the plumbing leak detection service, cause of the problem and the repairs that will be required to fix the situation. NEVER FOOL AROUND WITH MOLD & MILDEW: When it comes to mold and mildew, we cannot take those potential hazards lightly. A mold problem can cause you to experience dizziness, anxiety, depression and even hallucinations. If you have been experiencing a diminished attention span or problems with your memory, it might be a good idea to have your home inspected for black mold by a mold remediation crew. For people sensitive to mold, inhaling or touching mold spores can cause allergic reactions, including sneezing, runny nose, red eyes and skin rashes. People with serious mold allergies may have more severe reactions, including shortness of breath. At 1st Priority Restora-tion, this is what they do 365 days a year, nobody knows how to prevent potential dangers like they do. By dialing: 1 (800) 617-1112 – you can save financially and your health as well! MOLD AND YOUR HOME: Mold is found both indoors and outdoors. Mold can enter your home through open doorways, windows, vents, heating and air conditioning systems. Mold in the outside air can also attach itself to clothing, shoes, bags and pets, which can be carried indoors. Mold will grow in places with a lot of moisture, such as around leaks in roofs, windows, pipes or where there has been flooding. Mold grows well on paper products, cardboard, ceiling tiles and wood products. Mold can also grow in dust, paints, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric and upholstery. With all of the rain and storms we have been having these past months, you can see a pattern of mold growth that will last. From leaks, flooding / driving rain, mold growth is a certainty in South Florida. If you are concerned that you might have a mold or mildew problem, it is best to call the professionals. Your health is your most important asset, so just like you go see a doctor for tests, your home needs tests too. VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: There are some important ways that we can prevent the spread of mold and what you can do to get rid of it. Keep an eye out for hidden leaks: Wet spots on your ceiling, the baseboards or on the floor are a telltale sign of a leaky pipe or roof. Your home's pipes are behind drywall, which can leave a small leak unnoticed. Mold can grow behind those walls and filter into the air through ducts or pipes. At 1st Priority, they can come in and assess the situation before it gets worse. Did you know that many air conditioner systems/ducts are susceptible to mold growth? They often trap moisture, creating a breeding ground for spores. Bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms create a lot of excess heat and humidity, especially here in south Florida – whether it is from a shower, stove or even a dryer, all of these areas should be well ventilated. Education is key to anything – when our health is at stake – knowing that mold spores can lay dormant for years after they are produced and could begin growing again at any time, it is extremely important to know. Because of this, regular cleanings and having 1st Priority Restoration to depend on, will certainly make our lives much easier. Ever wonder why you or your children wake up coughing and sneezing on a regular basis? The CDC may have the answer. According to the CDC, in 2004 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found that there was sufficient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, coughing, sneezing and wheezing in otherwise healthy people and in individuals susceptible with compromised immune conditions. Mold or mold spores may cause asthma attacks in people who have asthma and are allergic to mold. Even in some nonallergic individuals, mold can cause symptoms of irritation in the eyes, skin and airways. For example, the "black mold" Stachybotrys, a-long with some other types of mold, produce toxins known as mycotoxins that can cause irritation of the skin and airways in susceptible individuals. Some-times, people may develop sev-ere reactions to mold exposure, but cleaning and sanitizing by professionals you can trust. EXPERIENCE IS EVERYTHING: With decades in the business, 1st Priority Restoration is a reputable company with over 20 employees that are licensed and insured. They have been doing all types of cleaning, sanitizing, leak/mold detection and water damage restoration for more than a decade. • Israel Is Under Attack

Israel Is Under Attack By Hallandale Beach Mayor, Joy Cooper October 12, 2023 Share I, like many of our friends and neighbors, have been watching in disbelief over the horrific events taking place in Israel. Two years ago, this week, I had the great fortune to visit this beautiful resilient country with my husband and my dear friends. It was the second time I had been there. Many people who have not visited Israel do not realize how small this powerful State is. You can travel and see the whole country in days. Tuesday we held a meeting to approve a vigil for those killed, kidnapped and fighting against Hamas Terrorists. While we sat at home watching TV, I shared how close everyone lives to each other. How close towns are. The bombs we see are like standing on Golden Isles Drive and watching a bomb go off on A1A in Golden Beach. It is so heart wrenching, paralyzing as well as angering. We and the entire world should be rallying for Israel. We all need to stand up against hate. Those cheering and chanting for PLO and Hamas are just as barbaric. This to me is Hate Speech and does not represent our American values. Just as bad as Nazis. Israel has been occupied over and over again. They have fought to regain Jerusalem which had been taken from them 1000’s of years ago. It is their homeland. They have worked towards peace while sacrificing their security. This has just become very evident through this attack. What everyone must know is that Israel has been living in peace and restraint for over 50 years. Even though their enemies are at the gates they always have helped anyone that is injured. They live helping others and have lived side by side with Christians and Muslims alike over these years. Not all peaceful but with compassion and again with restraint Hamas wants to kill every Jew. Their Jihad came to America in 9/11 so the issue is when will they be coming after the rest of the Christians and Muslims that do not bow to their twisted beliefs? Israel is an amazing place. It thrives in the desert surrounded by many enemies. They have built a country through grit, determination and ingenuity. They have created many breakthroughs in many industries, technology, farming, health and engineering to name a few. What is truly eye opening is the surrounding countries have not invested in their countries and people. They have been ruled by oppressive government regimes. This I think further fuels the hatred. Combined with the corrupt manipulation of religion, Gaza has been even built with the help of Israel, yet Hamas continues to even use their own citizens as shields and now have unleashed war. Saudi Arabia and other surrounding countries are seeing they need to modernize. The days of being solely dependent on oil and the wealth it brings with the lack of investment to help their economy have begun to change. Changes in government education and other social issues for all their citizens, men and women alike, are starting to take place. It will continue to evolve. The Abraham Accords have taken root. Relations will never be perfect but have come a long way. Gaza and places like Iran and Afghanistan are breeding grounds for this kind of hate. We need to remember; this is not a religious war, it is Terrorism! Just like any gang fueled by leaders exploiting humans through illegal activities of guns, human trafficking and brutality. The goal is to gain mental and physical control over the countries for wealth and power. We are all heartbroken. We can all do our part. Speak out online against hate. Stand up against those supporting this barbarism. Tell Congress to do all they can to support Israel! Support Israel’s Relief Efforts! There are so many, Jewish Federation, ADL, Hadassah just to name a few. We do not know how or when this will unfold. I pray that they can rid the country of Hamas with swiftness and precision. I want to thank our City Manager, Dr. Jermey Earle, Chief Michel Michel, our entire City Staff and Vice Mayor Anabelle Lima-Taub, Commissioner Adams for making the meeting and Commissioners Lazarow and Butler who have shared their support to unite as a City and encourage all our residents to support Israel! As always, please feel free to contact me anytime with your questions, concerns and ideas to make our City a better place! I am available at: jcooper@cohb.org . Or: joycooper@aol.com . On my Office Number at: (954) 457-1318. Or my Cell/Text at: (954) 632-5700. You can always visit my Facebook and follow me at Mayor Joy Cooper! < Previous News Next News >

  • Arena And Barry Hoping For A Place To Call Home | sun-times

Arena And Barry Hoping For A Place To Call Home South Florida Sun Times Sep 3, 2026 At The Humane Society Of Broward County, Every Animal Has A Story Waiting To Be Finished. For Two Shelter Residents, Arena And Barry, That Story Could Have A Happy Ending If The Right Family Walks Through The Door. Arena, a beautiful fawn-colored dog, is hoping someone will look beyond the kennel and see the loving companion she could become. Just over a year old and weighing 57 pounds, Arena is Humane Society ID 721637. Although her background is largely a mystery, her striking appearance and gentle personality have already made her a favorite among shelter staff and volunteers. With a coat described as soft as velvet, Arena may be part Shepherd and possibly mixed with Labrador. Her exact breed, however, is unknown. What is more certain is the impression she has made on the people caring for her. Arena is described as friendly, calm and social. She takes treats gently and enjoys playing with toys, making playtime one of her favorite activities. Staff members say she has a mellow personality, although they caution that some of that calmness could be a result of the kennel environment. For Arena, patience may be the key to helping her feel comfortable in a new home. She does best when people take things slowly, and a quieter household could be the best match for her. Giving her time to settle in and learn that she is safe may allow more of her personality to emerge. There is one important consideration for prospective adopters: Arena is heartworm positive. While the diagnosis may sound frightening, heartworm disease is not contagious to people or other pets. It is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito and is a treatable condition. Because Arena requires treatment, she must be adopted locally. That arrangement allows the veterinary staff at the Humane Society of Broward County to provide her heartworm treatment at no additional cost to her adopter. Everyone who knows Arena is hoping her stay at the shelter will be a short one. After all, this young dog has plenty of life ahead of her and appears ready to become a devoted member of a family willing to give her the time and patience she needs. Then there is Barry, a handsome feline who has found himself competing for attention with the many kittens currently looking for homes. Barry, Humane Society ID 723615, is hoping potential adopters will remember that adult cats have plenty to offer. His personality makes it clear that he is not simply looking for a place to live — he is looking for a person or family to share life with. Barry lost his previous home after his human welcomed a baby and found that having a new child along with multiple pets was more than the household could manage. Through no fault of his own, Barry ended up at the shelter, where he is now waiting for another chance. And Barry appears to have plenty to say about it. Described as friendly and talkative, he is the kind of cat who may provide a running commentary throughout the day. If you enjoy a feline who likes to “tell stories,” Barry could be your ideal companion. He is also fond of playing with toys, although his interest can sometimes fade once the novelty wears off. Barry is particularly well suited to someone looking for a couch companion. He would likely be happy to settle in beside his favorite person for an evening of relaxing. Prospective adopters should also be prepared for the possibility that Barry may decide the bed is an excellent place to sleep — and that sharing the covers is simply part of the deal. Another important detail about Barry is that he does not enjoy being left alone. His ideal home may therefore be one where he can spend plenty of time with his people and receive the companionship he craves. He also gets along with well-mannered dogs, potentially making him a good choice for a household with a canine companion. Arena and Barry are very different animals, but they have one thing in common: both are waiting for someone to recognize what wonderful companions they could be. Arena needs a patient family willing to give her time to adjust, while Barry is looking for a home where he can be part of the action and share plenty of conversation, playtime and cuddles. Both deserve the opportunity to leave the shelter behind and become cherished family members. Anyone interested in meeting Arena or Barry should first complete the pre-adoption application through the Humane Society of Broward County at [ www.humanebroward.com ]( http://www.humanebroward.com ). Once the application is completed, prospective adopters can visit the shelter. The adoption kennels open daily at 11:00 a.m. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312. For additional information, call: (954) 989-3977. For Arena and Barry, the next chapter of their lives could begin with a simple visit from someone who believes every shelter pet deserves a second chance. Perhaps one of these two special animals is waiting to become your newest family member. To meet a pet at the Humane Society of Broward County, complete the pre-adoption application at: www.humanebroward.com and then stop by. Arena 721637 Barry 723615 Previous Next

Amazon Reviews 5 Stars - Another well written book by Sara Shaw "Life has many struggles but reading this book you know you are not alone. So many interesting stories of hardship and abuse but you realize you get through it and in the end you are a better person and with the help of God and friends you know you will be ok." 5 Stars - Life can be so hard but inside us all there is hope for better days ahead "Sara has a great sensitivity in her writing that captures life in a very real way. The stories about the people who endured such tremendous hardships brings to light the awareness that we truly never really know what crosses some people have to bear! Each story puts you inside the circle of very real people who have very difficult decisions to make. All of us can identify to some degree with the burden, shame, regret, and intense hurt that life changing choices can cause. Thank you to Sara for opening our eyes to the reality of what many people endure. You always show that by the grace of God, there is always hope for better days to come! Thank you, Sara and each of you who shared your stories, we are humbled to know how you did not give up!" 5 Stars - Inspirational "Sara Shaw’s Healing Your Life One Leaf at a Time offers an emotional and reflective journey through stories of personal tragedy and recovery. As a man reading this book, I found its universal message of healing and hope powerful, even though many of the stories are deeply personal and sometimes focus on issues like abuse, which might seem more directed toward female experiences. That being said, the insights and lessons are relatable to anyone dealing with life’s struggles, regardless of gender. The book is structured around a series of personal interviews with people who have faced significant hardships—addiction, trauma, and loss are recurring themes. Shaw presents these stories with care, providing not just the details of their darkest moments, but also how they found their way through and what they learned in the process. One of the strengths of the book is its wide range of perspectives, which makes it easy to connect with at least one story, no matter who you are. This inclusivity feels intentional, designed to ensure the book resonates with all readers." Amazon Book Link: https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Your-Life-Leaf-Time/dp/B0D53QFRNS About Sara Shaw As a child, Sara Shaw dreamed of becoming a writer someday. Later in her life, after the death of her mother, she connected with her mother’s sister’s children, whom she had been separated from all of her life. This uncovered shocking family secrets. Their experiences inspired her to recount their stories to help them heal and offer hope for others to heal from similar dark situations. Her first book, Two Sisters and the Four Leaf Clover (Trilogy Publishing/2021), is a true story of a family’s tragedies, desperation, and strong will to survive. By telling their stories, others came forward, which led to Sara’s second book, Healing Your Life One Leaf at a Time (Trilogy Publishing/July 2024), a compelling compilation of personal interviews of people from all walks of life who shared some of their darkest days, how they survived. Serving the Community Auto Tags of Hallandale Celebrating Over 30 Years of Service By Austin Torres June 2, 2022 Share Among the many businesses in South Florida, few can say that they have been open for over 30 years. Thanks to the committed and outstanding customer service of founder, Randy Giunto, Auto Tags of Hallandale is one of those few exceptional businesses that are able to celebrate that milestone. Through their unwavering dedication to delivering customer satisfaction and their “old school” approach to business, Auto Tags of Hallandale can proudly say they have been around since 1987 and are showing no signs of slowing down. Through the years, even though we were based in Hallandale, we started to pick up new customers from all over.” Randy’s experience assisting customers with a title, tag, renewal or the proper motor vehicle documents has helped establish Auto Tags of Hallandale as a premier business in South Florida. They offer a variety of services that include assistance in registering your vehicle, updating your decal, or replacing it if it has been lost or stolen. If you are a new resident to Florida and the City of Hallandale and need to register your vehicle, then Auto Tags of Hallandale can assist you in this process. Bring in your vehicle's title from the state from which you are moving, proof of Florida insurance and a valid driver's license or passport. For those of you who have lost your plate or decal, you can come in with your valid driver's license and your signature on the replacement form, which can be found via a link on their website: www.autotagsofhallandale.com and apply for a new one. Little has changed at Auto Tags of Hallandale since they opened their doors to customers back in 1987. You can still expect the same warm welcome and authenticity from Randy that has made him such a popular figure in the area. In October of 2021, Auto Tags of Hallandale celebrated their third year at their new location in the popular 7th Avenue Village Shops. “What a great location, our loyal customers will find us quickly, but we are also excited about the new business that will walk in daily.
