- Water Damage Leak Detection Mold Testing
Water Damage Leak Detection Mold Testing May 27, 2021 Share 1st Priority Restoration - Protecting Your Home & Your health If your home has been damaged by water from a leaking pipe, intruding water from all the current rains or mold damage from moisture over time. How are you going to address these problems in your home? A Restoration Company such as 1st Priority Restoration is usually the first company to call following significant damage to a home from floods, water damage, sewage backup and other major water events. The job of a restoration company is to clean up the mess and to preserve the home, protect the home and its contents so that further damage will not occur. Flood damage can be found in any geographical area, regardless of elevation. The causes of flooding can range from natural disasters, burst pipes, leaking pipes, rain storms or sewer lines that are backing up. Even in a condo, you could have a water leak in your wall, under a toilet or behind a kitchen cabinet creating mold that can cause damage to your property and your health. 1st Priority Restoration can find the source of the leak, fix it, restore your property and work directly with your insurance. Regardless of the cause, restoration professionals are called upon to repair water damage, mold damage and restore flooded properties. The water damage restoration process is highly regulated in order to ensure that properties damaged by flood or sewer events, can be effectively restored to a safe space for a homeowner to remain safe during the cleanup. You need a company such as 1st Priority Restoration who you can trust to do the job correctly. The process is simple, when 1st Priority Restoration arrives, they will thoroughly walk through your home and discuss the areas that need to be cleaned & restored to their original condition. Your insurance company adjuster or claim representative may recommend what and how your home should be cleaned, but in the end, it is your decision to make. In the past year, we have all heard the word “Mitigation” more times than we can count, but with water damage, that is exactly what needs to be done. Water damage restoration does not stop at restoring your real estate back to proper functioning. The professionals at 1st Priority will inspect the underlying causes that have caused the water damage in the first place and make sure there won’t be a reoccurrence. They will repair all of the damaged structures and replace the materials to make your property safe, for years to come. If your property has been exposed to water damage, you may have to do water mitigation. Strict actions are required in water mitigation, such as: removal of damaged materials such as drywall and flooring. Molds and mildew that have accumulated in areas in your property will be disinfected and deodorized to restore a healthy environment. Further cleaning and deodorizing should be done to make sure that your real estate is back in tip-top shape. Water damage mitigation should happen immediately after flooding or water buildup. Take action immediately, because letting your property sit in water can cause further damages and expenses. Materials soaking in water collect microbes and spread water-borne diseases. Furniture, wood flooring and walls will crack, sag and collect fungi after prolonged exposure to moisture. If your property is particularly old, it may be time to replace materials such as pipes to prevent a reoccurrence of water damage. If pipes are behind walls, it may require more extensive repairs. The water mitigation process will depend on how long your property has been exposed to water. Air humidifiers and drying equipment must be turned on around the clock in areas with severe water damage. Mold spores are especially dangerous to health and thorough cleaning and disinfecting should be done as part of the water damage mitigation. It is advisable to get the temperature, humidity and moisture of your property tested to see if it has been restored to normal standards, 1st Priority professionals can handle the entire process. After 1st Priority Restoration evaluates the work and equipment needed to clean your home, they will provide you with an estimate or contract for their services. LEAK DETECTION: One tiny water leak can create huge problems in a home or business. An undetected water pipe leak will not only dramatically increase your utility bills, but it can also lead to even more expensive water damage and mold. If you’ve had higher than average water bills, constantly have to refill your pool or hear running water, it’s time to call the leak detection specialists at 1st Priority Restoration! Is water pipe leak detection possible if the pipes are behind a wall? Yes, using the newest state-of-the-art detection tools, highly trained technicians are able to locate water pipe leaks that are hidden behind walls. They can even provide water plumbing leak detection within concrete slab foundations. Will insurance cover the cost of plumbing leak detection services? That all depends on your home's insurance plan. In many situations, when there is a need for water damage restoration, many insurance companies will cover the related costs. 1st Priority Restoration representatives can work directly with your home insurance company to verify the need for the plumbing leak detection service, cause of the problem and the repairs that will be required to remedy the situation. MOLD AND YOUR HOME: Mold is found both indoors and outdoors. Mold can enter your home through open doorways, windows, vents, heating and air conditioning systems. Mold in the outside air can also attach itself to clothing, shoes, bags and pets, which can be carried indoors. Mold will grow in places with a lot of moisture, such as around leaks in roofs, windows, pipes or where there has been flooding. Mold grows well on paper products, cardboard, ceiling tiles and wood products. Mold can also grow in dust, paints, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric and upholstery. With all of the rain and storms we have been having these past months, you can see a pattern of mold growth that will last. From leaks, flooding and driving rain, mold growth is a certainty in South Florida. If you are concerned that you might have a mold or mildew problem, it is best to call the professionals for a complete evaluation of your home. Your health is your most important asset, so just like you go see a doctor for a test, your home needs testing as well. NEVER FOOL AROUND WITH MOLD & MILDEW: When it comes to mold and mildew, we cannot take those potential hazards lightly. A mold problem can cause you to experience dizziness, anxiety, depression and even hallucinations. If you have been experiencing a diminished attention span or problems with your memory, it might be a good idea to have your home inspected for black mold by a mold remediation crew. For people sensitive to mold, inhaling or touching mold spores can cause allergic reactions, including sneezing, runny nose, red eyes and skin rashes. People with serious mold allergies may have more severe reactions, including shortness of breath. At 1st Priority Restora-tion, this is what they do 365 days a year, nobody knows how to prevent potential dangers like they do. By dialing: 1 (800) 617-1112 – you can save financially and your health as well! VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: There are some important ways that we can prevent the spread of mold and what you can do to get rid of it. Keep an eye out for hidden leaks: Wet spots on your ceiling, the baseboards or on the floor are a telltale sign of a leaky pipe or roof. Your home's pipes are behind drywall, which can leave a small leak unnoticed. Mold can grow behind those walls and filter into the air through ducts or pipes. At 1st Priority, they can come in and assess the situation before it gets worse. Did you know that many air conditioner systems/ducts are susceptible to mold growth? They often trap moisture, creating a breeding ground for spores. Bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms create a lot of excess heat and humidity, especially here in south Florida – whether it is from a shower, stove or even a dryer, all of these areas should be well ventilated. Education is key to anything – when our health is at stake – knowing that mold spores can lay dormant for years after they are produced and could begin growing again at any time, it is extremely important to know. Because of this, regular cleanings and having 1st Priority Restoration to depend on, will certainly make our lives much easier. Ever wonder why you or your children wake up coughing and sneezing on a regular basis? The CDC may have the answer. According to the CDC, in 2004 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found that there was sufficient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, coughing, sneezing and wheezing in otherwise healthy people and in individuals susceptible with compromised immune conditions. Mold or mold spores may cause asthma attacks in people who have asthma and are allergic to mold. Even in some nonallergic individuals, mold can cause symptoms of irritation in the eyes, skin and airways. For example, the "black mold" Stachybotrys, along with some other types of mold, produce toxins known as mycotoxins that can cause irritation of the skin and airways in susceptible individuals. Sometimes, people may develop severe reactions to mold exposure, but cleaning and sanitizing by professionals can help mitigate the health issues. EXPERIENCE IS EVERYTHING: With decades in the business, 1st Priority Restoration is a reputable company with over 20 employees that are licensed and insured. They have been doing all types of cleaning, sanitizing, leak/mold detection and water damage restoration for more than a decade. "We use the most efficient cleaning and water removal equipment to make sure that our customers are satisfied with the job we do for them. We try to use nontoxic (Green) safe chemicals for all mildew treatments. It doesn’t have to be a tropical system to cause flooding and everything that goes along with it, a leak or burst pipe can happen at any time of year, 1st Priority Restoration is available to help get your home back to a healthy environment for you and your family. What continues to separate them from anyone else is that they can take care of all of your water damage problems - as well as conducting leak and mold detections, working with your insurance company and your adjuster. - The Beloved Musical Comes To South Florida
The Beloved Musical Comes To South Florida April 4, 2024 Share Hello Dolly! one of the most beloved musicals in Broadway history, will close out the 2024 Broadway at LPAC Season. The production, which will star three-time Carbonell Award-Winning Actress Angie Radosh as the irrepressible Dolly Gallagher Levi, will run from April 4th through April 21st at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. “I am absolutely thrilled and humbled at the idea of doing this role…it has been on my bucket list for a long time,” Radosh says. “Every actor has their bucket list and as the years go by, the list gets shorter and roles pass us by. When I first read The Matchmaker so many years ago, I fell in love with the character of Dolly Levi and then, seeing Carol Channing in Hello Dolly! …well, that really made me appreciate the character even more….and here I am getting ready to finally bring this wonderful woman to life!!” Hello, Dolly! is based on Thornton Wilder’s 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1954. The musical, with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman, and book by Michael Stewart, follows the romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher Levi, turn-of-the century matchmaker and ‘woman who arranges things’, as she travels to Yonkers, New York to find a match for the ‘well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire’ Horace Vandergelder. Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway on January 16th, 1964, at the St. James Theatre. Opening with Carol Channing in the title role, the show ultimately ran for 2,844 performances, making it – at the time – the longest-running Broadway musical in history. Among its many awards, Dolly garnered 10 1964 Tonys (including Best Musical, Author, and Composer/Lyricist) and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. Michael Ursua will do double duty as the show’s Director and Music Director, and Alex Jorth will serve as the production’s choreographer. Hello Dolly! is produced by Kevin Barrett and Arts Center Management. “Hello Dolly! happens to be one of my all-time favorite musicals and its composer and lyricist, Jerry Herman, remains my favorite composer,” Ursua says. It is an absolute classic in musical theater. The characters are loveable, and the audience can identify with their desire for romance and adventure. They bravely choose to step out of their comfort zones for love and yes, for money (which is really just a way to live generously of course). And Dolly helps each of them find their way and find each other. In the end it is the community that is the prize. I am encouraged by these characters … encouraged to be brave, to love more, to be more generous and to dance whenever, however, with whomever I can.” Ursua has assembled a stellar cast to populate Dolly’s 1898 New York setting – along with Radosh, Christopher Dreeson will star as Horace Vandergelder, with Sam Joseph as Cornelius Hackl, Ally Rosenblum (Star of LPAC’s 2023 production of Always…Patsy Cline) as Irene Molloy, Kristi Rose Mills as Minnie Fay, Joel Hunt as Barnaby Tucker, Erica Kaylee as Ermengarde, Dru Loman as Ambrose Kemper, Britte Steele as Ernestina, and Lovell Rose as Rudolph. Ensemble members are Bryce Bayer, Nia Bourne, Kalista Curbelo, Eytan Deray, Alexandra Dow, Desir Dumerjuste, Stephen Eisenwasser, Eli Flynn, Santiago Garza, Amanda Lopez, Michael Materdomini, Izaiah Scott, Caroline Slagle, Larry Toyter, Alexandra Van Hasselt, and Herbert Welch. Tickets for Hello Dolly! are on sale now and can be purchased online at: https://www.lpacfl.com . Or by calling the LPAC box office at: (954) 777-2055. Tickets range in price from $45 to $65. The Lauderhill Performing Arts Center is located at 3800 Northwest 11th Place, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311, in the Central Broward Regional Park on the Northeast corner of Sunrise Boulevard and State Road 7. - Patriots Support Hallandale Sanitation Dept. but Oppose Parking Machines on Residential Streets
Patriots Support Hallandale Sanitation Dept. but Oppose Parking Machines on Residential Streets By Beverly Carawan June 15, 2021 Share The Patriots are adamant about stopping the proposal by the Hallandale Beach City Commission to place digital parking machines along residential streets including Golden Isles Drive, Three Islands Blvd., NE 14th Avenue, Diana Drive and by all parking including YMCA and HB Johnson. While the Hallandale & the Beaches Patriots Club had a very busy May including a great Memorial Day salute to Vets and families of the fallen, they are also focusing on local issues and members. Local Politics Committee, lead by Tara Weatherall monitors City & County Commissions. The Club strongly supports reversing the proposal to outsource the Sanitation Department managed by the City. Unaware that this had passed 4-1 (Joy Cooper lone vote against) based on multi-unit buildings but is being expanded to the entire City. The most obvious reason against outsourcing is maintaining accountability. Hollywood and other cities learned bitter lessons why outsourcing is not in the best interests of residents when storm debris littered streets for months after severe storms. The city has no control, no recourse. Outside companies can also raise rates leaving residents at their mercy as confirmed by member, Miguel Castillo, who lives in West Hollywood. Rates are up 3 times City direct rates. Employees who have devoted themselves to serving the City of Hallandale Beach should also be a compelling reason to rethink outsourcing. Most residents know the employees who greet them and make sure their bins are placed safely and not damaged. This is not the case with outside companies whose workers can be careless damaging bins even leaving them in the street, again, residents have no recourse. The Patriots are adamant about stopping the proposal by the Hallandale Beach City Com-mission to place digital parking machines along residential streets including Golden Isles Drive, Three Islands Blvd., NE 14th Avenue, Diana Drive and by all parking including YMCA and HB Johnson. (See map). Their zone permit idea would leave people who park in several zones, personal care aides or relatives who care for elderly paying full price for each zone. A compromise multizone discount might be considered if the plan proceeds. Verifying the actual upfront purchase cost of installation versus estimated income for each area should be published for public review. Watch for announcements or July Community meeting to protest followed by two public Commission votes in August. The commission may not be aware that residents of these areas are already facing extremely limited parking options decreased previously by plantings and entry clearances. The idea that besides being faced with parking a long distance from their buildings now, they will also be paying $2.50 up to $4.00 per hour or estimated $300.00 for a yearly permit which still does not guarantee a parking space. This fee is a burden to fixed income Seniors and workers who are already income challenged. Families may have to pay to park to watch their children's games in parks that do not have large enough free lots. The freedom and joy of taking your family to the park will be diminished by parking fees to do so. Patrons shopping for bargains on Fashion Row will be required to pay the meter possibly diminishing businesses that are already struggling. The club members plan to campaign actively to see that every affected resident calls and or emails City Commission members. Go online to sign free petition by cutting and pasting this link into your browser on a cellphone or PC. change.org/stopthehallandaleparkingmeters Voice Your Opinion By Making A Survey (Use The Wording Below) The undersigned residents of Hallandale Beach are opposed to the city wide parking scheme to include all areas on map shown. We call on the Commission to reverse any plan for this city wide installation of digital parking machines. A compromise allowing ALL tourist area & Beach parking to be metered, should be considered. Other ways to target cars supposedly "stored" on the street should be a requirement to move cars every 5 days or be fined and towed. This will eliminate Residents/Seniors with two cars or no parking space who mostly walk, but do live year round, in the areas targeted. Surly enforcement is less costly, than upfront costs for meter machines and installation. • Name • Address • Email • Phone Send the completed survey to the club, Hallandaleandbeachespatriots@gmail.com . Commissioners who all live in homes in non-targeted areas may not be aware or understand that those buying units may know they have one space, but not understand how difficult finding that second space is or that this scheme could be passed. Why should there be prejudice against those needing homes and buying in our fine city? A MEMORIAL DAY Remembrance Event was held Saturday, May 29th at Haitian United Methodist Church, Hallandale Beach. Veterans, Forever Vets Wives, Red Shirts, several other S. Florida Vets groups attended, Residents including Police & Firefighters were invited as Vets were honored. DJ AL, Raffles, food and beverages, games, contests and prizes assured a good time. Candidates Carla Spalding, Rubin Young, Lin Su turned out to speak to the crowd. Jose Cuevas, Treasurer made introductions. Overall, the event was a successful forerunner of future patriotic holidays. Contact the club at: Hallandaleandbeachespatriots@gmail.com Meetings are every 3rd Tuesday of the month at Upper Deck Grille & Sportsbar from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the next meeting is on July 15th. < Previous News Next News >

Avi Hoffman In Celebrating 'Yosl': Remembering Joe Papp - A Live And Streaming Concert Event Featuring Celebrity Video Testimonials Presented By Love Jewish South Florida Sun Times Jun 19, 2025 Theater Icon Joseph Papp, Aka Yosl Papirofsky, Creator Of The New York Shakespeare Festival & Public Theater, To Be Remembered And Honored In A Live And Streaming Concert Celebrating His 104th Birthday At The Triad Theatre On Sunday, June 22nd, 2025, At 1:00 pm (EST). “The single most creative and controversial figure in American theater” – Newsweek Joseph Papp (1921-1991), born ‘Yosl Papirofsky’, revolutionized modern theater as we know it. This theatrical icon – winner of 28 Tony Awards - will be the subject of a memorial concert on what would have been his 104th birthday on Sunday, June 22nd at 1:00 pm. This tribute will be presented by Love Jewish (a division of Yiddishkayt Initiative) at the Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd Street, New York, New York 10023. The concert event will also feature pre-recorded celebrity testimonials from Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, F. Murray Abraham, Blythe Danner, John Lithgow, Estelle Parsons, and many others. Joe Papp’s vision led him in 1957 to establish the “Shakespeare in the Park” free theatrical productions. Ten years later, he founded The Public Theater in the building that had formerly housed the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), a haven for newly arrived refugees fleeing persecution. The building was saved from demolition through Mr. Papp’s efforts after a long negotiation with the City of New York. It became the permanent home of the New York Shakespeare Festival/Joseph Papp Public Theatre (The Public) and is currently designated as a New York City Historical Landmark. Hair, A Chorus Line, and Runaways, are among the most famous shows to evolve from his ‘workshops’, along with over 700 other shows Papp nurtured and/or produced. Modern blockbusters like Hamilton were also developed at The Public. He championed the cause of multi-ethnic casting and socially relevant topics and was a social activist who also helped develop other off-Broadway experimental theaters. He worked to preserve the historic Broadway Theatre District and was considered one of the most philanthropic providers of inner-city access to the arts, believing that “if public libraries were free, public theatre should be free as well.” Celebrating Yosl is a tribute that features YI Founder and CEO, Drama Desk Award nominee (Death of a Salesman) and world-renowned actor and Jewish Cultural Activist Avi Hoffman, who Joe Papp mentored in the 1980’s with the creation of the Joseph Papp Yiddish Theatre. Avi Hoffman was recently awarded Congressional recognition, invited to the Vatican to meet the late Pope Francis, and was inducted into the Bronx Jewish Hall of Fame for his lifetime dedication to advancing Jewish culture, Yiddishkayt, and Holocaust Awareness. He is best known for his Too Jewish Trilogy: Award-winning, one-man shows Too Jewish, Too Jewish, Too! (PBS, Performer of the Year '95 - NY Press Magazine; L.A. OVATION award - Best Actor In a Musical 2001; NY Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award nominations) and Still Jewish After All These Years. On TV, he was featured as Sid Raskin in the Starz TV series Magic City, as well as on Netflix’s Bloodline, A&E’s The Glades, and on the NBC series Law and Order. He has recently starred in several indie films: You Will Not Play Wagner and the International Award-winning short Yiddish Films: Shehita (Best Thriller - HollyShorts Festival), Boxed, and the motion picture – The Imported Bridegroom. Avi has performed all over the world, has numerous acting and directing credits, and has received many awards and nominations.
