  • Not In Our City!

Not In Our City! By Joy Cooper Hallandale Beach Mayor January 5, 2022 Share Hallandale Beach Uses Technology To Fight Crime In my last article I started to address the changes being implemented in our Police Department. Ironically the ShotSpotter technology was triggered on December 28th, 2021 and December 29th, 2021. On December 28th, 2021 the ShotSpotter alarmed patrol to shots being fired on Northeast 1st Avenue and along Northeast 5th Street. Patrols arrived at the scene and found multiple bullet casings. Two minutes later a car crash was witnessed at Pembroke Road and 1st Avenue. Witnesses reported a gray Charger at high speed and hit another car. The car fled and Hollywood Police pursued the car into Miami-Dade County. The car was stopped and was riddled with bullets. There were two suspects who were arrested and linked to the shooting. Hollywood Police were the arresting agencies and took over the investigation. On December 29th, 2021, the alarm sent patrols to the underpass at I-95 and West Hallandale Beach Boulevard. While on route it was reported a white male was laying on the road. At the scene, the victim told officers that an unknown person shot into his vehicle hitting both of his arms. Since the underpass is the BSO's jurisdiction, the BSO took over the investigation. While the last thing we needed was more shootings, now we know that this technology provides real time information when shots are being fired. It helps to fight crime and gets criminals off the street. Technology to fight crime is not new to our city, we have implemented body worn cameras on all officers after a trial period. These cameras assist in so many ways. They obviously document interactions between the public and the officers. The recordings help to provide evidence when an arrest is made. The films also become a training tool. In November they even captured our officers’ saving men from a burning vehicle. In addition to these technologies years ago we implemented cameras in many of our parks and municipal facilities. The ultimate goal was to have cameras throughout our City and have them linked to a main monitored hub at our new Fire Station. Regretfully with the changes in management, many new technologies and upgrades were delayed. We are now truly focused on fully implementing. In 2021, the City Of Hallandale Beach Police Department had installed Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras at eleven of the largest traffic arteries in and out of the City to include: I-95 and West Pembroke Road (East), North Dixie Highway and Pembroke Road (South), Northeast 1st Avenue and Pembroke Road(North), North Federal Highway and Pembroke Road(South), Atlantic Shores Boulevard and Northeast 14th Avenue(North and South), 2500 East Hallandale Beach Boulevard (West), Ocean Drive/A1A (North), South Federal Highway and Countyline Road (North and South), Southeast 1st Avenue and Countyline(North) South Dixie Highway and Countyline Road (South) and I-95 and West Hallandale Beach Boulevard (East and West). These readers help us to target stolen vehicles and report tags that have been in crimes. In 2022, the Hallandale Beach Police Department will expand the ALPR system and the Public Safety Camera (CCTV) system to an additional four ALPRs locations and an additional forty-nine replacement CCTVs at twelve new locations. The cameras will be strategically installed at the following locations along Foster Road and Federal Highway. Residents need to know that their taxpayer dollars and a partnership with the CRA have been helping to ensure we have a State-of-the-art Police Department. We need to continue to equip our officers to fight crime within our City. Tolls and training go hand in hand. There have been many focus groups around that country on modern day policing. I have been following this issue for awhile and I must say I cannot buy into all the rhetoric. We as a society need to realize that there is serious crime in our communities. We need to fight crime and not sugar coat it. Police are here to protect and serve. The super majority are great public servants. I have fielded so many calls about continued crime and the need for more presence and getting tougher not reducing or changing the way we police. With the proper tools, training and leadership in the department we can send the message “Not in our city!“ As residents we too need to be proactive. Please call and report crime. You may think it does not help but it truly does. The more reports and documentation we have provides much needed information to monitor and track criminal activity so that we can address the problems head on. As always feel free to contact me anytime with your questions, concerns and ideas to make our City a great place to live, work and play! I am available by phone or text at: (954) 632-5700. • Giving Thanks & Thanksgiving

Giving Thanks & Thanksgiving By Rabbi Moishe Kievman - Chabad Chayil November 17, 2023 Share We Americans are thankful people. On Veteran’s Day we thank the brave men and women of our country that served in the military. On Memorial Day, we show our gratitude to those courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our liberties and democratic lifestyle. On Labor Day, we express our appreciation to the industrious American workforce, the people who keep the wheels of our economy turning. On other days, we pause to thank different historic individuals who have made valuable contributions to our nation. And then there is Thanksgiving. The day when we thank G‑d for enabling all the above—and for everything else: He so kindly does for us. There is no doubt that this great country’s historically unprecedented success and prosperity is due to the fact that its Founding Fathers recognized that there is a Supreme Being who provides and cares for every creature. They understood that since G‑d sustains and gives life to every being, it follows that every being has certain “unalienable rights” upon which no government can impinge. These strong morals upon which our republic was founded express themselves to this day in American life. Looking at the dollar bill and seeing “In G-d We Trust” is a reassurance that, as a people, we still recognize and acknowledge the Source of all our achievements. As Jewish citizens of this land, we always look to the Torah for a deeper perspective and additional insight. What light does the Torah shed on the wonderful trait of thankfulness? Actually, there is one particular mitzvah which is completely devoted to expressing gratitude—the Mitzvah of Bikkurim (Deuteronomy 26:1–12). During the Temple era, every farmer was commanded to bring to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem the first fruits which ripened in his orchard. There he would recite a passage thanking G‑d for the Land and its bountiful harvest, and the fruits were given to the Kohanim (priests). The Midrash extols the great virtue of this Mitzvah, going so far as to say that the Land of Israel was given to the Jews as a reward for the Mitzvah of Bikkurim they would observe after entering the Land! While the importance of expressing deserved gratitude is self-understood, it is difficult to comprehend the special significance of Bikkurim. Isn’t the Jewish day jam-packed with “thank you”s? The first words we utter when waking in the morning, Modeh Ani, expresses our thanks to G‑d for returning our souls to our bodies. Thrice daily during the course of prayer, we thank G‑d for everything imaginable. Before and after eating, we thank G‑d for the food. There is even a blessing recited upon exiting the restroom, thanking G‑d for normal bodily function! With all the thanking which occurs on a daily basis, why the need for a specific Mitzvah commandment to emphasize the point? And why the great reward for this particular form of expressing thanks? The Rebbe points out one obvious difference between Bikkurim and all the other ways we thank G‑d: Bikkurim involves more than just words—it requires a commitment; the gratitude must express itself in deeds. Bikkurim implies that our thankfulness to G‑d cannot remain in the realm of emotions, thoughts, or even speech, but must also move us to action. While the Mitzvah of Bikkurim in its plainest sense is not practicable today, its lessons are timeless. Our gratitude to G‑d must express itself in the actions of our daily life. Giving back the “first of our fruit,” the choicest share of the crop, is the only appropriate way to thank G‑d for giving us all our fruit. So this Thanksgiving, in addition to saying thanks, let’s give thanks, with a bit more than just words. Let’s show G-d our appreciation by being more kind and generous, giving to the people and good causes around us! Happy Thanksgiving! About The Author Rabbi Kievman together with his wife are the ambassadors of The Rebbe to Highland Lakes, FL. • Listing Your Property For Sale? Florida's Best-Kept Real Estate Secret

Listing Your Property For Sale? Florida's Best-Kept Real Estate Secret By Christopher Carter - Real Estate Broker Associate August 24, 2023 Share Every year, thousands of Florida property owners agree to have local real estate agents list and offer their houses and condos for sale to the public. While reviewing their Listing Agreements, just about all of them notice that the relationship between seller and Broker has been designated as “Transaction,” which is the default brokerage relationship in Florida unless another is agreed to in writing. Listing agents explain to sellers that in residential sales, the Transaction Broker relationship is a limited form of representation in which a real estate agent can assist the seller, the buyer, or both by having all parties give up their rights to that agent’s undivided loyalty. An agent working under a Transaction Broker relationship does not represent either a seller or a buyer in a fiduciary capacity or as a single agent. Florida’s Transaction Broker relationship is described in Florida Statutes Chapter 475, Section 278. It is interesting to note that unless another form of representation (Single Agent or No Brokerage) is specified by separate written disclosure, a Transaction Broker relationship is established between a seller and a listing agent's Broker when the Listing Agreement is signed, long before the property is even offered to potential buyers. In Florida, all relationship agreements for residential real estate services are between a principal (seller or buyer) and the office's Broker, NOT with the individual real estate agent who will be dealing directly with the seller or buyer. Any form of brokerage relationship (Transaction, Single Agent, or No Brokerage) applies to all agents whose licenses are attached to that Broker and office. Keep in mind that the sales commission received by a buyer's Florida real estate agent is paid by the seller. In the Listing Agreement the seller agrees to pay a negotiated total commission to the listing office at closing, which is then shared with the buyer's real estate agent's office. This is called a cooperative commission. The Transaction Broker relationship does not require a separate written disclosure to principals in order to apply. All relationships between Brokers and sellers/buyers in Florida are automatically Transaction unless and until a separate written disclosure changes it. (That's the "best-kept secret" part.) This is how the Florida Statutes (see the above link) describe Transaction Brokerage: " (b) Presumption of transaction brokerage. — It shall be presumed that all licensees are operating as transaction brokers unless a single agent or no brokerage relationship is established, in writing, with a customer. 2) TRANSACTION BROKER RELATIONSHIP. — A transaction broker provides a limited form of representation to a buyer, a seller, or both in a real estate transaction but does not represent either in a fiduciary capacity or as a single agent. The duties of the real estate licensee in this limited form of representation include the following: (a) Dealing honestly and fairly; (b) Accounting for all funds; (c) Using skill, care, and diligence in the transaction; (d) Disclosing all facts that materially affect the value of residential real property and are not readily observable to the buyer; (e) Presenting all offers and counter-offers in a timely manner, unless a party has previously directed the licensee otherwise in writing; (f) Limited confidentiality, unless waived in writing by a party. This limited confidentiality will prevent disclosure that the seller will accept a price less than the asking or listed price, that the buyer will pay a price greater than the price submitted in a written offer, of the motivation of any party for selling or buying property, that a seller or buyer will agree to financing terms other than those offered, or any other information requested by a party to remain confidential; (g) Any additional duties that are entered into by this or by separate written agreement." A Single Agent relationship includes the fiduciary duties of Loyalty, Obedience, and Confidentiality, while a Transaction Broker relationship does not. Transaction brokerage is non-fiduciary and involves "Limited Confidentiality" as mentioned above, which is a confusing concept to many sellers, buyers, and even real estate agents. Listing Agreements indicating (or defaulting to) Transaction Brokerage establish the relationship with sellers. However, if buyers have not signed a Single Agent or No Brokerage agreement with their real estate agent's Broker, Transaction Brokerage status automatically extends to their representation relationship. Local real estate Boards refer to Transaction Broker limited representation as “facilitating” the transaction and “assisting” both seller and buyer, which includes filling in some paperwork, arranging access for viewings and inspections, and referring both sides to attorneys or title companies for closing. Under a Transaction Broker relationship, buyers and sellers are referred to as "customers," not clients. Licensed Brokers who manage offices and Sales Associates often call this a "non-agency" relationship. Transaction agents are expected to provide marketing services and property/market information in order for sellers and buyers to make an informed decision on their own. Providing negotiation suggestions and/or advice may be interpreted as overstepping the limitations of a Transaction Broker relationship. Transaction agents can be viewed as neutral third parties helping both the buyer and the seller navigate a Florida real estate deal. Real estate attorneys tell us that handling sales under Transaction Broker relationships reduces potential liability on Brokers, offices, and companies for agent errors and omissions. The majority of real estate agents in Florida operate as non-employee independent contractors to the companies where their licenses are attached. One of the reasons Florida real estate agents like to operate within a Transaction Broker relationship is because it opens the door to handling both sides of the deal and receiving both seller-side and buyer-side commissions. To many of them, the "holy grail" jackpot is receiving commissions from both the seller side and the buyer side in the same transaction. Unless established in writing through a separate Single Agent disclosure, Florida real estate agents do not work for individual sellers or buyers, they work to help complete the transaction for both parties. When Transaction agents give sellers or buyers advice or opinions about whether an offered price is too low, whether or not to counter with different terms or price, or which side should pay for certain negotiable items, they may be overstepping the limits of their Transaction Brokerage relationships. This could be interpreted as implied agency and is the basis for many misunderstandings (and sometimes lawsuits) between buyers, sellers, and their agents/Brokers. Speak with a Florida-licensed real estate attorney for details on agency relationships and implied agency. Even when one Transaction agent handles the seller side, and a different one handles the buyer side, both agents are there as neutral parties to facilitate the transaction and assist (not advise) both the buyer and the seller. Either one may be creating implied agency by not adhering to the limitations of Florida's Transaction Brokerage relationship. Being the default real estate brokerage relationship in Florida, Transaction Brokerage is valid, accepted, and works adequately when properly adhered to, then competently and ethically applied in actual practice. Issues and misunderstandings arise when one side (seller or buyer) feels that their interests have not been looked after or protected as well as they assumed or expected. When interviewing real estate agents to handle your side of an upcoming deal, be sure to have each one discuss Florida's Transaction Broker, Single Agent, and No Broker relationships with you. Depending on how you would like your interests addressed, you should know the differences and have the opportunity to ask basic questions. When you have legal questions, speak with a Florida-licensed attorney before making any decision that involves buying or selling real estate. Editor's Note: Christopher Carter is NOT an attorney. He does not give legal advice. For interpretation and application to specific circumstances of anything you read in this article, you must speak with a Florida-Licensed attorney. • New Year, New Pet: The Joys And Challenges Of Puppy Ownership

New Year, New Pet: The Joys And Challenges Of Puppy Ownership January 8, 2025 Share Over the holidays, many people may have chosen to welcome a new puppy into their families. While those big eyes and wiggly tails may be irresistible, these families may quickly discover that their new addition can bring as much chaos as it does cuteness. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or regretful after welcoming a puppy, you’re not alone — and there are plenty of ways to navigate this stage with optimism and success. Dr. Lori Teller, a clinical professor at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, shares her expert advice on how to thrive through the ups and downs of puppyhood. From Bliss To Chaos: The First Few Weeks Puppyhood isn’t all tail wags and playtime. A new puppy can disrupt your routine, test your patience, and turn your furniture into their personal chew toys — all before breakfast. “Puppies are adorable, fun, and entertaining, but they will also suck up your free time, urinate on your best rug, and chew up your most expensive shoes,” Teller said. “In other words, expect to feel the full spectrum of emotions and to live in chaos temporarily.” Preparation is key to setting yourself up for success. Before bringing your new furry friend home, ensure your house is puppy-proofed and stocked with essentials like a crate, chew toys, and a leash. “Find a veterinarian before finding a puppy and talk about realistic expectations,” Teller said. “Understanding your puppy’s breed — or breed mix — can go a long way in preparing for its behavior and energy levels.” Smaller breeds often finish teething earlier, while larger breeds may become house-trained faster. Knowing these breed-specific tendencies can help you anticipate what to expect and adjust accordingly. In addition, establishing a predictable schedule can also make a significant difference. Puppies thrive on routine, and regular meals and potty breaks can help them settle into their new environment more smoothly. Once your puppy arrives home, be ready to dedicate significant time to meeting its needs — and soaking up all the adorable moments in between. “If you need to leave the house or get some things done and can’t watch your puppy, make sure to put the pet in a crate or a safe, enclosed space,” Teller said. “It’s important for puppies to learn that it is OK to be alone and to entertain themselves.” Coping With The Puppy Blues On the other hand, sleepless nights, chewed-up furniture, and seemingly endless accidents can leave even the most prepared puppy owner feeling overwhelmed. This phase, often referred to as the “puppy blues,” is a common challenge, particularly for first-time owners. Though puppies’ rapid development — transitioning from chaotic toddlers to mischievous teenagers in just a few months — can be exhausting, there is light at the end of the tunnel. This stage is temporary, and with patience and proper guidance, these early trials lead to a well-adjusted, loving companion, according to Teller. If the stress feels unmanageable or begins to impact your mental health, don’t hesitate to seek help from a trusted medical professional; likewise, your veterinarian can be an invaluable resource as you navigate the ups and downs of puppyhood. “They can help you tackle the more challenging aspects of puppyhood, such as housetraining, teething, and getting your puppy to sleep through the night,” Teller said. “Veterinarians can also offer guidance on managing the overwhelming moments that come with this stage.” Teller also suggests working with a reliable trainer and attending puppy socialization or obedience classes. “These classes are a great way for your puppy to learn good manners and for you to realize you’re not alone in your frustrations,” Teller said. “Your classmates will be experiencing the same highs and lows, and your puppy will make new friends — and come home exhausted.” If classes or training aren’t feasible, there are other ways to help you through this stage. “Consider hiring a dog walker or asking a neighborhood teen for help if you just need a break,” Teller said. “Even short reprieves can make a big difference, recharging your energy and perspective.” The Reward of Perseverance Despite the trials of puppyhood, the reward is undeniable – a loyal, loving companion who is thrilled to see you every single day. “Take the time early on to invest in training and establish a routine,” Teller said. “One day, you’ll look back and laugh at your dog’s antics during puppyhood.” As your once-chaotic puppy grows into a cherished member of your family, you may even, perhaps, feel inspired to do it all over again. Whether your new puppy feels like a bundle of joy or a tiny tornado, remember that patience, preparation, and a little humor will carry you through. And when the dust and shredded shoe remnants finally settle, you’ll have a best friend for life. Keith Smith, M.D. October 7, 2021 Share It turns out that the federal government has a habit of exempting the “select few” from many of the rules and mandates imposed on its “citizens.” As more individuals move to freer, less locked-down states (like Oklahoma and Texas, for instance), the number of people saying “y’all” should greatly increase. The federal government, as in the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Twitter post on “horse dewormer” (“You are not a horse…. Seriously, y’all. Stop it,”) is signaling its attitude toward such people, our health and safety. The current bureaucrats have unintentionally provided a glimpse into what socialized medicine will look like. Medicare for All (we’re going to call this Medicare for Y’all here on out), the political version of medical care, will appear no different than denying sufficient monoclonal antibody infusions to individuals in “uncooperative” states. In addition, those in charge will exempt themselves from the political medicine system they would impose on the rest of us, just as they’ve exempted themselves (White House staff, Congress, Postal Union and probably others) from their recent punitive vaccine mandate. As we try to uncloak Uncle Sam’s medical scheme, let’s review some history, some examples of laws lawmakers don’t have to follow. It turns out that the federal government has a habit of exempting the “select few” from many of the rules and mandates imposed on its “citizens.” Social Security/Medicare Exemption: Until about 1983, civilian federal employees were exempt from Social Security taxes. While their exemption was eventually ended, there was no hesitation in providing the exemption in the early days, and this represented a powerful employment recruitment tool for the federal government. While members of Congress pay Medicare taxes, they are not required once they reach age 65 to designate Medicare as their primary insurance. They’ve carved out a special exemption, unavailable to the rest of us, that places Medicare (increasingly shunned by physicians and hospitals) on the back bench. Obamacare Exemption for Congress: While severe monetary penalties for failure to buy insurance were consequences for the populace at large, Congress members exempted themselves from these same Obamacare penalties. The penalties have been removed for all of us (for now), but clearly the lawmakers had no intention of complying with what the rest of us had to endure when the Unaffordable Care Act was passed. Vaccine Mandate Exemption: The most recent and blatant example of “yes for thee, not for me,” is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-enforced vaccine mandate decreed by the current occupant of the Oval Office. The mandate does not apply to the White House staff or members of Congress and their staff. When the postal workers’ union bowed up, they received an exemption. This would be laughable if the consequences of non-compliance were trivial, but no tyrant worth his salt would threaten his subjects with a feather. The $14,000-per-violation penalty has the attention of employers nationwide, many of whom are hoping the legal resources of their state governments can derail this federal invasion, an invasion from which the ruling class is exempted. Public Health Rules: Disturbing as federal intrusions into all aspects of our lives might be, even more galling are the exemptions these bureaucrats grant themselves to the rules inflicted on the rest of us. Exemptions that predate and encompass the pandemic timeline portend more to come. Increasingly we see the “us” and “them” display, where rules are conspicuously violated by those who make the rules. A governor dining at the French Laundry during the height of the California lockdown; the husband of a governor on a boating excursion when all boating activities were banned for anyone else who lived in Michigan; a confiscatory tax plan supported by a president who may very well owe $500,000 in back taxes. While the mask-less display at the Emmy awards was hypocritical, the exemptions lawmakers routinely provide for themselves are tyrannical. Indeed, government commits crimes (robbery by taxation and inflation, murder by drone, counterfeiting by Federal Reserve) every day, the committing of which would land any individual in jail, but the explicit exemption of the shafters from the laws the shaftees must obey defies any concept of the rule of law. When my father asked the late Walter Williams years ago whether state actors were stupid or evil, he responded, “both.” However, state actors can’t effectively hide behind stupid or the “law of unintended consequences” when they explicitly shield themselves from the same consequences they inflict on the rest of us. I have no doubt that the past and current conduct of federal officials portends future legislative meddling in our medical affairs, the non-compliance with which will hold no consequences for those who run the predator state. “Medicare for All” is what they will call it. I say we call it “Medicare for Y’all,” as it is meant for us, not for them. About The Author: Dr. G. Keith Smith has been a board certified anesthesiologist in private practice since 1990. • Reach Your Fitness Goals: The Aventura Zumba Community Can Help

Reach Your Fitness Goals: The Aventura Zumba Community Can Help August 22, 2024 Share The City of Aventura started offering Complimentary Zumba® Classes to Aventura residents of all ages. Participants must register prior to attending the class, and be ready to provide valid proof of Aventura residency to access the park on the day of class. Participants will spend their morning being in a positive mood, having fun, and enjoying aerobic movement and Latin dance with the help of a certified instructor. During a Zumba® Class, you'll follow choreography with footwork that works your leg muscles, arm movements that tone your arm muscles and squats that can tighten your glute and core muscles. Whether you're new to the dance fitness world or have been taking different types of dance exercise classes for a while, you'll experience the post-workout feel from a Zumba® Class the next day, throughout your entire body. No matter your fitness goals, whether they're losing weight, toning muscles or maintaining a healthy lifestyle, a full-body workout can contribute to all of these goals and more. These workouts are versatile, and you can easily adapt them to your preferences and workout style. Zumba® Classes are a popular full-body workout because of the atmosphere of the class, and participants don't need any equipment to enjoy it — all you need is yourself and enough space to dance. According to: http://Zumba.com these are the ten main benefits of Zumba®: 1. Complete a Full-Body Workout Many exercise classes or types of workouts focus on certain parts of your body. Some workouts target your legs, back, arms, core and other areas of your body, but others provide a full-body workout that can help engage multiple muscles in your body. Zumba® is one of the exercise programs that can provide a full-body workout and a dance class. 2. Improve Your Coordination Dancing requires some level of coordination to follow choreography and piece together the moves. Zumba® will help those looking to improve their coordination and give them a safe space to practice their dancing abilities. Similar to how you can train your Lungs to work harder and your muscles to become stronger, you can train your body to become more coordinated through repetition. Zumba® is one of the best classes to work on improving your coordination. Including regular exercise into your routine, like Zumba® Classes, can help you maintain your physical abilities and coordination as you get older and prevent injuries from falls. 3. Enjoy Aerobic Exercise Benefits Zumba® is an upbeat and lively dance fitness class that will make you sweat with a smile on your face — you'll be having so much fun that you'll almost forget you're accomplishing an intense cardio-style workout. Implementing aerobic exercise in your workout schedule is an essential part of improving your overall health. This type of exercise describes any high or low-intensity cardio workout. It'll increase your heart rate and the amount of oxygen your body is using during your workout, helping you exercise your heart and lungs, which positively impacts your cardiovascular system. Specifically, aerobic exercise can improve your heart health by lowering your Blood Pressure, lowering your resting heart rate and reducing your chances of Heart Disease. Completing an aerobic workout is also beneficial for your Lungs. It trains your lungs to work more efficiently as you breathe hard and absorb more oxygen. Even parts of the body like the skin can benefit from Zumba® and other forms of aerobic exercise. When you raise your Heart Rate and enhance Blood Circulation, your body can deliver Oxygen and other nutrients to your skin, which helps make it healthier. 4. Assist Your Metabolism Zumba® Classes, and any other type of cardio workout, may help give your metabolism a boost. If you're someone looking to lose weight or improve your overall health, you may be curious about finding ways to improve your body's metabolic rate. A person's metabolism will vary depending on various factors and may change as they age. Keep in mind that you can't really "increase" your metabolism — and trying to do so won't help you lose weight. However, you can assist your metabolism by burning more calories than you take in, and Zumba® is a wonderful way to do just that. All levels of Zumba® can impact your metabolism. 5. Torch Calories A top benefit that encourages many people to work out is the number of calories they burn. Zumba® Classes are a great workout if you have a weight loss goal and want to burn a lot of calories. Zumba®, like other aerobic workouts, requires plenty of energy to keep up with all the choreography and upbeat rhythms. Zumba® is all about movement. During a class, you'll shake your hips, move your feet, sway your arms and complete other types of dance moves that will keep your body moving. The tempo changes and intensity variation throughout the class make Zumba® one of the best workout choices to maximize fat burning and torch calories. 6. Boost Your Mood Whether it's been a rough day, you're stressed or you just need a morning pick-me-up, Zumba® is the perfect mood booster. Zumba® can benefit many aspects of Mental Health. The combination of exercise and dance causes your brain to release Endorphins like Serotonin, making you happier. In general, exercise can also help alleviate any built-up Stress, anger or Anxiety that needs an outlet to escape. 7. Meet Other Zumba® Lovers Zumba® offers plenty of social benefits that can enhance your overall health. Having friends who like the same things you do is a big part of friendship. A fun aspect of participating in local Zumba® Classes is socializing with other people and creating new friendships. Zumba® is a social group fitness class, especially if you take classes regularly at your local fitness center, dance studio or other location. Zumba® Classes are a great way to make new friends if you spend a lot of time at work, are busy with kids or have other obligations in your life that hinder your time to socialize with others. 8. Exercise at Home While some people love to work out at the gym, others like to exercise from the comfort of their homes. A major perk of Zumba® Classes is you can participate almost anywhere — virtual Zumba® Classes are a wonderful option for people who want to stay home and work out or don't have time to make it to the gym. Zumba® Workouts are possible at home or at any location as long as you have enough space to move around and an internet connection. 10. Feel Like You're Part of a Community One of the best parts about Zumba® is its inclusivity to all levels of fitness. Zumba® Classes are open and available to those of nearly all abilities. No matter your age or skill level, you can find a class that works perfectly for your health goals. Zumba® Classes are a safe space for all fitness levels, and the instructors are ready to welcome you into their motivating and supportive community. Classes are held on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Veterans Park: 18375 Northeast 31st Avenue, Aventura, Florida 33180. Please plan to be in class for approximately one hour. Students must bring their own refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. While they don’t have to go home together, if you adopted the duo, you would have constant entertainment. This two-year-old lovebug is social, likes to play in the baby pool and enjoys meeting new people. She would love to be your sweetie for this Valentine’s day and many more. Five-year-old Rosie (ID 664166) was given up after having a home her entire life because someone was allergic to her. Now Rosie is very nervous at the shelter, but we know if the right cat lover takes her home and gives her the TLC she needs, she will be fine. Her previous family said her nickname is "Nosy Rosie," and she will check on everyone. She is a talker and if you've been away for a bit, she may tell you stories. Rosie will meow to tell you she is hungry or ready for you to wake up. Make sure you have a carpet scratcher for her, and she will use it. While she has not lived with other pets, she is good with older kids. To meet Harlow, Rosie or any other pet, complete the pre-adoption application at: https://humanebroward.com/ The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312 and the adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. If you have questions, call: (954) 989-3977 Extension#: 6 and if you can’t adopt, please share.
