Dock Dreams - 3 Florida Lakefront Locations Are Luring Second-Home Buyers Nationwide Aventura Digest Jul 18, 2025 There’s Something Timeless About The Allure Of A Lakefront Home In Summer. For Many People, It’s The Ultimate Escape - Where Mornings Start With Coffee On The Dock And Days End In Golden-Hour Swims. Lakefront Homes Have Long Ranked Among The Most Desirable Types Of Second Properties In North America - And The Numbers Back It Up - Waterfront Properties Can Command A 36% Price Premium On Average, According To Zillow. Calgary Homes, a real estate platform, carried out a survey of 3,007 Americans and Canadians to identify the most sought-after lakefront real estate in North America. The top 10 were as follows: #1. Big Bear Lake, California Perched in the San Bernardino Mountains and just a few hours from Los Angeles, Big Bear Lake is a four-season favorite. Neighborhoods like Boulder Bay offer classic A-frames and modern homes, many with easy access to trails, town, and lakefront views. The blend of walkability and alpine charm makes it a consistent pick for second-home buyers. #2. Lake Tahoe, California Lake Tahoe is a year-round dream with crystal-clear water and a mix of forest hideaways and luxury retreats. On the California side, places like Carnelian Bay and Rubicon Bay offer direct water access, with homes often passed down for generations. Whether it’s a sleek modern cabin or a grand lakefront lodge, property here is scarce and moves quickly — Tahoe isn’t just seasonal, it’s a lifestyle. #3. Shasta Lake, California As one of California’s largest reservoirs, Shasta Lake has a wilder, more remote feel. Properties here often sit above the shoreline with sweeping views of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Because of water level fluctuations, many homes are built with adaptable features like hillside paths and extended docks. It’s ideal for those who want space, solitude, and serious boating access. #4. Tracadie Bay, Prince Edward Island Though tidal, Tracadie Bay feels like a lake - calm, scenic, and low-traffic. Shoreline homes around Brackley and Blooming Point offer privacy, beach views, and quick access to Charlottetown. Most are custom-built with sunrooms and private water access. It’s especially popular among seasonal buyers who want natural beauty with city proximity. #5. Lake Weir, Florida In Marion County, Lake Weir stands out for its sandy beaches and low-key atmosphere. Many homes come with large lots, private docks, and backyard boat access. It’s a peaceful choice for full-time living, close enough to Ocala and The Villages without feeling overdeveloped or crowded. 2 more of the nations' most sought after lakefront real estate locations are in Florida: #17. Lake Santa Fe Spring-fed and known for its stable water levels, Lake Santa Fe has a reputation as one of north-central Florida’s hidden gems. It draws both seasonal and year-round residents, many of whom live in older homes shaded by oak trees with classic boathouses. The area’s focus is simple: boating, paddleboarding, and enjoying life outdoors - without the tourist traffic. #43. Lake Dora Lake Dora offers a walkable waterfront lifestyle in the heart of Mount Dora, a town known for its historic charm and marina access. Homes range from century-old estates to newer builds with boat slips, all tied together by a strong sense of community. It’s not a resort town - it’s a place where people put down roots and enjoy lake life year-round. “Lakefront homes have a unique way of combining investment potential with emotional appeal,” says a spokesperson from Calgary Homes. “What we’re seeing is that buyers aren’t just chasing scenery - they’re looking for places that support a slower, more connected lifestyle. Whether it’s for seasonal use or future retirement, these properties offer a blend of long-term value and personal meaning that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.” Previous Next

  • Pet Diarrhea: When to Head to The Vet

Pet Diarrhea: When to Head to The Vet June 8, 2021 Share If a pet has a sudden bout of diarrhea, there are some at-home measures that pet owners can take to help their loved ones. Diarrhea is a natural part of life, all pets (and pet owners) have had it, at some point. While diarrhea can be smelly, messy and potentially, embarrassing, Dr. Michael Hung, a small animal internal medicine resident at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, offers the run down on what causes it and when a pet owner should be worried. Diarrhea is defined as loose, watery, more frequent bowel movements and simply indicates, that something is irritating the GI tract, according to Hung. “It occurs when something either impairs the intestine’s ability to absorb water or causes the intestine to secrete more water,” he said. “This can be from a problem originating within the intestines—such as parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, a sudden change in diet or even, stress.” When diarrhea is caused by something obvious, such as a pet getting into the garbage or eating too many table scraps, intestinal worms or stress from a recent move, the episode passes quickly, it can be considered normal and self-resolving. “However, diarrhea can also reflect a more serious issue elsewhere in the body,” Hung warns. More sinister causes may include: infectious diseases, the ingestion of poisonous substances, a variety of illnesses, such as: Kidney Disease or even, Cancer. “While there are serious causes for diarrhea, the majority of diarrhea cases are uncomplicated and do not require hospitalization,” Hung said. If a pet has a sudden bout of diarrhea, there are some at-home measures that pet owners can take to help their loved ones. Hung says that pet owners can make sure that plenty of water is available to their pets, although, they should never force feed them with water. A bland and low-fat diet, can also be offered for a short period of time. Examples include: shredded, non-seasoned, fully cooked chicken breast or cottage cheese mixed with cooked, plain white rice. Since this diet is not balanced, however, it should not be offered for more than, a couple of days. Pet owners also can try to prevent diarrhea by making sure their pets are on appropriate, thoroughly cooked and balanced diets. “Treats (including human food) should be kept to a minimum,” Hung said. “Any changes to diets, should occur gradually over a couple of days. Pets should also be kept on a consistent parasite preventative regimen and a vaccine schedule.” Occasional diarrhea is unavoidable, a pet may be able to overcome minor bouts on their own or with the help of their owners. “Ultimately, the cure for diarrhea depends on its cause,” Hung said, adding that some pets may need to see a veterinarian for medical help. “Any diarrhea that is profuse and watery, mostly bloody or that lasts longer than seven to 14 days, should be addressed by a veterinarian,” Hung advises. “Because diarrhea can be a warning sign of a systemic disease, if not addressed in a timely manner, these systemic diseases can progress and become harder to treat.” Ongoing diarrhea can result in weight loss, nutrient deficiencies and dehydration. Signs of dehydration, including lethargy, inappetence and unwillingness to drink, also, indicate the need for veterinary attention. “That said, if your pet has diarrhea, but is eating and drinking and seems like themselves, don't panic! Although a pet with diarrhea in the house can certainly be stressful, it is not necessarily an emergency,” he said. “You can schedule an appointment with your family veterinarian and they can help you decide, what is needed for your pet.” < Previous News Next News >

  • Chrissy I-EECE Unveils “Frente A Frente” - A New Tropical Single Marking A New Chapter In Her Artistic Evolution | sun-times

Chrissy I-EECE Unveils “Frente A Frente” - A New Tropical Single Marking A New Chapter In Her Artistic Evolution South Florida Sun Times Jul 23, 2026 Media Force Global — Singer-Songwriter Chrissy I-EECE Announces The Release Of “Frente A Frente,” A New Tropical Single That Places Salsa At The Heart Of A Defining New Chapter In Her Career. Rooted In The Emotional Language Of Romantic Salsa And Shaped With A Contemporary Sensibility, The Track Marks A Return To Her Musical Foundations While Introducing A Fresh, Refined Sound For Today’s Latin Music Audience. Written by Chrissy Peña and produced by Adan Perez, “Frente a Frente” brings together a seasoned team of musicians and production professionals. The track was mixed and mastered by Eric Maldonado at Paris Studios, with background vocals by Madeline Benitez and Jancy Santiago. Percussion by Chino Ramos, brass arrangements by Charles Garcia, and trumpets by David Zabala give the single an elegant, fully realized tropical sound that honors the genre’s tradition while feeling distinctly current. Chrissy I-EECE first emerged in the late 1980s freestyle scene, building a catalog that established her as a distinctive voice within the Latin dance movement. She later expanded into salsa and tropical music, recording several productions that showcased her versatility. Her repertoire includes salsa interpretations of songs such as “Se Acabo,” made popular by La Lupe, as well as Latin reinterpretations of “Superstar,” “I Miss You,” and “Tonight I Celebrate My Love for You.” With “Frente a Frente,” Chrissy I-EECE enters a more introspective and artistically mature phase, guided by a deeper emotional connection with her audience. The song draws from love in its many dimensions: the joy of being in love, the ache of loss, and the longing to be loved. “I am always inspired by love in all its forms: being in love, losing love, or longing to be loved,” the artist said. “Frente a Frente comes from that profound feeling of loving and missing someone, from the desire to feel close to someone special again, even if only for a moment.” Over the course of her career, Chrissy I-EECE has collaborated with and shared stages alongside leading names in Latin music, including Marc Anthony and La India, as well as genre icons Tito Nieves, Tito Puente, and Tony Vega. She also recorded a bolero with American recording artist Christopher Williams, further underscoring the range and adaptability that have defined her musical path. Her professional connection with Marc Anthony dates back to the late 1980s, when both artists were represented by the same management company. During that period, they spent time in the studio and collaborated on various musical projects. In 1991, Anthony wrote and appeared on a track she recorded for Atlantic Records, which also featured background vocals by La India and George Lamond. The two later shared the stage in multiple performances and appeared in the film An East Side Story, alongside Danny Rivera and Iris Chacon. They would later become part of RMM Records, where in 1994 they were introduced as members of a new generation of salsa artists, a milestone moment in both of their careers. With the release of “Frente a Frente,” Chrissy I-EECE reaffirms her commitment to musical excellence and continues to position herself as a versatile artist whose work crosses genres and resonates with international audiences through authenticity, emotion, and craft. As part of this new chapter, she also completed a media tour in Puerto Rico, introducing the single across several media platforms and sharing the inspiration behind the project with key outlets and audiences on the island. About Chrissy I-EECE Chrissy I-EECE is a Latina singer and songwriter of Puerto Rican descent, born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, with a career spanning more than three decades. She began in freestyle in the late 1980s, earning recognition for her powerful voice and emotionally driven performances. Over time, she evolved into tropical music, particularly salsa, developing a signature style that bridges classic influences with a contemporary point of view. Throughout her career, she has worked with influential figures in Latin music and has been part of key moments in the genre’s evolution, including her time with RMM Records, one of the labels instrumental in expanding salsa’s international reach during the 1990s. Her artistry is defined by authenticity, versatility, and a strong emotional connection with listeners. Today, Chrissy I-EECE continues to reinvent herself through projects that honor her roots while exploring new musical territory, reaffirming her place as a relevant and enduring voice in Latin music. The witty dialogue and clever parodies of popular songs will have you laughing until your sides hurt. Menopause may be a challenging phase of life, but it's one that can be made more manageable with the healing power of laughter. As the ladies navigate memory lapses and the occasional mood swing, their infectious humor will keep you in stitches. One of the highlights of Menopause The Musical 2 is the soundtrack. Parodied hits from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s take center stage, with lyrics that cleverly relate to the Menopausal Experience. From "Stayin' Alive" to "My Guy" and "I Will Survive," these iconic songs are given a hilarious twist that perfectly captures the essence of 'The Change.' Prepare to tap your feet and sing along as you revel in the nostalgia of these timeless tunes. A Message Of Empowerment While Menopause The Musical 2 is undoubtedly a comedy, it also carries a meaningful message of empowerment. It reminds us that Menopause is not the end of the road but rather a new chapter in a woman's life. It's a time for self-discovery, for embracing the changes in our bodies, and for finding joy in the journey. These four women, with their quirks and idiosyncrasies, are a testament to the resilience and strength of women during this stage of life.
