CalaMillor – The Ambitious, 8,000-Square-Foot Bakery, Restaurant, Gourmet Market And Wine Bar Found On The Busy Corner Of 57th Avenue and Bird Road – Brings Three Generations Of Spanish Culinary Excellence To South Miami. Opened In 2023 By Alberto Garcia Perez, The 168-Seat Hybrid Is The Modernized Evolution Of His Family’s Bakery That Opened In Madrid In The 1970’s. Garcia’s Grandparents – Natalio And Concepcion – Named Their Bakery For The Seaside Town On The Island Of Mallorca Where Natalio Learned His Craft. Over Time, Natalio’s Son-In-Law, Jose Expanded The Business To Five Bakeries Located Throughout Madrid, Creating A Successful Bakery Dynasty, Renowned For Their Ensaimadas– A Brioche-Like Pastry With Its Origin Rooted In Mallorca. Fast Forward Fifty Years And Garcia, Who Had Grown Up Working In The Bakeries From The Age Of 12, Decided It Was Time To Take Calamillor Overseas.

With a feeling that the Magic City was ripe for an authentic Spanish food & drink experience – which he believed was missing from the restaurant landscape – Garcia tapped CalaMillor Madrid's head chef Javier Dominguez to work with him to develop a Miami restaurant that would expand the successful bakery into a full service authentic Spanish restaurant. With experience clocked at two Michelin-starred Madrid restaurants, Albora and A’Barra, Dominguez was the perfect choice to oversee CallaMillor’s Miami transformation into an authentic Spanish dining destination. In time, Dominguez assumed the title of corporate executive chef, ultimately becoming a partner in the business with an eye toward future expansion.

Alongside gleaming display cases filled with exquisite pastries would be a menu that offered authentic Spanish cuisine while reflecting the sensibilities of Miami’s diverse population.

Busy all day long with guests lingering over a European breakfast of strong coffee and delicious Spanish pastries, lunch that encourages diners to grab a quick bite or sit and savor, and dinner that can range from a tapas tasting to a family celebration, CalaMillor, offers not only a great place to dine all-day, but a communal gathering spot where regulars come for wine tastings, to purchase olive oils from Spain and to enjoy a night out with live music.

With a menu showcasing standout classic Spanish dishes, guests can share dishes such as gambones rojos al ajillo (red shrimp with garlic and olive oil); huevos rotos with Iberian ham (fried eggs with Iberico ham and crispy roasted potatoes); stuffed piquillo peppers and Galician-style octopus as well a variety of Iberico ham and Spanish cheese platters.

Heartier options include cachopo Asturiano con salsa de Cabrales – a traditional Asturian schnitzel served with a creamy blue cheese sauce; grilled salmon served with Spanish ratatouille, and paellas and fidueas studded with chicken, pork and/or seafood. Here, under Perez’s watchful eye, Dominguez stuns with authenticity and simplicity.

Offered Chef Dominguez, “Everything is made in-house with the highest quality ingredients. Naturally, we’ve tweaked a few things to acknowledge we are in Miami (there is a smash burger and guava and dulce de leche pastries) but we strive to honor our Spanish roots throughout the menu.”

Dessert options include a legendary Basque cheesecake; Santiago cake – a traditional almond cake from Galicia; a variety of Turron cakes and an irresistible Coffee Bean Cake, a silky coffee-chocolate mousse piped into a coffee bean-shaped chocolate shell. Breakfast is also served and is as simple as pointing at the beautiful pastry display case with options galore including the aforementioned ensaimadas (served plain, stuffed with whipped cream or creme brulee); croissants both sweet and savory; palmiers, brownies and cookies. Guests can also peruse the full breakfast menu with tortillas and an abundance of egg dishes and sandwiches. CalaMillor also supports a robust takeaway business, including pastries, whole cakes, sandwiches, tortillas, and much of the regular menu.

In addition to a wine list that is studded with intriguing vintages from Spain offered by the bottle and glass, there is also a cocktail menu with some interesting Spanish accents. There is sangria, a complete list of gin & tonics (or gin-tonics as they are known in Spain) which take the classic British version to the next level with herbs, florals and fruit components, a Spanish Old Fashioned, an 1888 Espresso Martini made with Brugal rum, and many more, both classic and with a twist.

The restaurant, bakery and market reflect Garcia’s lineage – a lifelong connection to food, pastries and top-quality products, but also to family. Offers Garcia, “By bringing a bit of Spain to Miami I wanted to not only offer a literal taste of Spain, but also a place for guests to feel welcomed and connected to that taste. CalaMillor represents the idea that we can transport our guests even for a few hours to a place rooted in family, food and the simple Spanish tradition of gathering around the table.”

As the restaurant gears up for the busy season ahead, there are weekly specials in place that attract loyal customers. Mondays bring a 50% discount on the amazing paellas, while Thursday evenings feature live music accompanying dinner. Every weekday happy hour takes place from 3PM to 6PM with special pricing on drinks and bites. For jamon lovers, what better way to kick off the upcoming holiday season with the exclusive Wine & Jamon Fest, which will be held at the restaurant on Thursday, November 12th, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This exclusive evening – priced at $95 per person++ -- includes tastings of six Spanish wines, passed tapas, a live carving of Iberian Cinco Jotas jamon and a personalized engraved wine glass.

Thanksgiving-to-go will be on offer for guests who want to enjoy the feast without the stress of cooking; the restaurant will be open for service and pick up during the day with full menus for catering and takeout online. Christmas will feature delectable products and gift baskets for purchase and a special holiday menu available for dine in and takeout. Furthermore, orders for Roscones de Reyes, the traditional Three Kings, will go live at the beginning of December.
