  • Feeling Stressed About Your High Utility Bills? The City of Hollywood Has Partnered with Solar United Neighbors for Broward Solar Co-Op 2022

Feeling Stressed About Your High Utility Bills? The City of Hollywood Has Partnered with Solar United Neighbors for Broward Solar Co-Op 2022 August 11, 2022 Share With energy costs rising and coastal cities becoming more vulnerable to increasing climate risks, are you looking for ways to control your clean energy future? Have you ever thought about going solar but aren’t sure where to start? Well, you’re in luck! The Non-Profit Group Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is hosting the Broward Solar Co-Op 2022 to help bring more rooftop solar to South Florida communities. Since the Co-Op launched on Thursday, July 14th, 2022, the 136-Member Group is still growing! Solar United Neighbors is a national Non-Profit that has helped over 5,000 families go solar since 2007. What Is A Solar Co-Op? Together, Co-Op Members will learn about solar energy and leverage their numbers to purchase individual solar systems at a competitive price and top quality. “The Co-Op will enable Broward County homeowners and business owners to join the growing community of people saving money by harnessing solar power,” said Laura Tellez, South Florida Program Coordinator for Solar United Neighbors. “Together, we’re building a movement to transform our electricity system into one that is cleaner, fairer, and shares its benefits more broadly.” After a competitive bidding process facilitated by SUN, which remains vendor neutral, Co-Op members will select a single solar company to complete the installations. Joining the Co-Op does not obligate members to purchase solar. Instead, members will have the option to individually purchase panels and electric vehicle chargers based on the installer’s group rate. Why Join A Solar Co-Op? “I am a five-year solar supporter. I purchased our first 5 kWh array on my own and the research was exhausting and confusing,” said Jack Vesey, resident of Coconut Creek and member of the 2019 Broward Solar Co-Op. “Fast forward to our first SUN Broward Solar Co-Op in 2019 and I was able to make a clear and informed decision. The installer was great to work with. This is the way to go!" The Co-Op is free to join and open to homeowners and business owners in Broward County. Partnering on the Co-Op are: Broward County, Broward Climate Alliance, City of Hollywood, City of Pompano Beach, City of Sunrise, Climate Reality Project- Boca Raton, Dream in Green, League of Women Voters of Broward County, Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition, ReThink Energy Florida and Temple Solel. Learn More On Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., there will be a Florida Solar 101 webinar with more information about solar energy and the Co-Op: Find the link to the webinar, along with other webinars at: https://www.solarunitedneighbors.org/co-ops/florida/broward-2022-solar-co-op/#events Sign-up for the Co-Op at: https://www.solarunitedneighbors.org/co-ops/florida/broward-2022-solar-co-op/#coop the deadline to join is on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022.
