    “The King Of Lovers Rock” Beres Hammond Returns To The Broward Center For Two Shows August 11, 2022 Share The Jamaican Reggae Superstar and undisputed King of Lovers Rock, Beres Hammond, brings his “Solid Love 2022” Tour to the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for two shows on Friday, September 2nd, 2022 and Saturday, September 3rd at 7:30 p.m. Famous for his soulful vibe and smokey-sweet, bourbon-on-the-rocks vocals, this GRAMMY® Award–Nominated Singer-Songwriter is known as the "Otis Redding of Reggae" with a hit list that includes "Tempted to Touch," "I Feel Good," "Putting Up Resistance," "Rockaway" and "No Disturb Sign." Born Hugh Beresford Hammond in Annotto Bay in the Jamaican Province of St. Mary, Hammond grew up listening to his father's collection of American R&B. The City of Hollywood Has Partnered with Solar United Neighbors for Broward Solar Co-Op 2022 August 11, 2022 Share With energy costs rising and coastal cities becoming more vulnerable to increasing climate risks, are you looking for ways to control your clean energy future? Have you ever thought about going solar but aren’t sure where to start? Well, you’re in luck! The Non-Profit Group Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is hosting the Broward Solar Co-Op 2022 to help bring more rooftop solar to South Florida communities. Since the Co-Op launched on Thursday, July 14th, 2022, the 136-Member Group is still growing! Solar United Neighbors is a national Non-Profit that has helped over 5,000 families go solar since 2007. What Is A Solar Co-Op? Together, Co-Op Members will learn about solar energy and leverage their numbers to purchase individual solar systems at a competitive price and top quality. “The Co-Op will enable Broward County homeowners and business owners to join the growing community of people saving money by harnessing solar power,” said Laura Tellez, South Florida Program Coordinator for Solar United Neighbors. “Together, we’re building a movement to transform our electricity system into one that is cleaner, fairer, and shares its benefits more broadly.” After a competitive bidding process facilitated by SUN, which remains vendor neutral, Co-Op members will select a single solar company to complete the installations. Joining the Co-Op does not obligate members to purchase solar. Instead, members will have the option to individually purchase panels and electric vehicle chargers based on the installer’s group rate. Why Join A Solar Co-Op? “I am a five-year solar supporter. I purchased our first 5 kWh array on my own and the research was exhausting and confusing,” said Jack Vesey, resident of Coconut Creek and member of the 2019 Broward Solar Co-Op. “Fast forward to our first SUN Broward Solar Co-Op in 2019 and I was able to make a clear and informed decision. The installer was great to work with. This is the way to go!" The Co-Op is free to join and open to homeowners and business owners in Broward County. Saturday, August 13th, 2022 - 7 to 11 a.m. Join volunteers to gather every second Saturday of the month to collect litter and cigarette butts from the sandy beach. Volunteers meet at Charnow Park on Garfield Street and the Broadwalk, at 7:00 a.m. Please complete the registration form available on the City’s website at: http://www.hollywoodfl.org/ Children ages 8 and older are welcome to participate when accompanied by an adult. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to all volunteers along with safety instructions. Please dress appropriately, wear sunscreen and bring the completed registration form. The School and the Curriculum Sports Leadership Arts Management, SLAM, is a Public Charter School in historic Little Havana which opened in 2013.     YMCA Of South Florida’s “Little Builders Fun Fest” - The Site Of The Future YMCA Family Center And Broward Health Emergency Room At Holiday Park South Florida Sun Times May 28, 2026 The YMCA Of South Florida Recently Hosted A Little Builders Fun Fest For Children And Families At The Site Of The Future Holiday Park YMCA Family Center And Broward Health Emergency Room In Fort Lauderdale. Kids had a unique opportunity to step onto the construction site where they shoveled and moved dirt, sat in the driver’s seat of construction equipment, built buildings and more. Kids received a hard hat, construction vest and a Little Builder Certificate. They also had a chance to sign and put their handprint on a steel beam that will be a part of the new YMCA. Little Builders Fun Fest was presented by Gulf – ANF Joint Venture and participating partners included City of Fort Lauderdale, Nicklaus Children’s Health System and Broward Health. The Holiday Park YMCA Family Center and Broward Health Emergency Room in Fort Lauderdale, is currently under construction. According to YMCA of South Florida CEO and President Sheryl Woods, “This event gave children a chance to explore, create and imagine while helping families connect with the incredible impact this new YMCA Family Center and Broward Health Emergency Room will have on the community.” Additional Information: Not only will Fort Lauderdale be the first city in South Florida to have two YMCA locations, but this is also the first YMCA in the country to include an Emergency Room as part of its footprint and is the first Free Standing Emergency Room in the City of Fort Lauderdale for Broward Health. The YMCA Family Center at Holiday Park will be the newest Y in South Florida and the second location in Fort Lauderdale. The 49,500-Square-Foot YMCA will offer a full-service health and wellness facility, including an aquatics center with a six-lane pool and teaching pool, indoor basketball court, State-Of-The-Art Fitness Center, youth sports, summer camps, after school programs, health and wellness programs and community rooms and will annually serve more than 15,000 children and families, including seniors and teens. The adjacent Broward Health 12,800-Square-Foot Free Standing Emergency Room will bring full emergency services closer to home for residents including on-site imaging, such as CT scans and X-rays, and lab work and exam treatment areas staffed by board-certified emergency physicians open 24 hours / 365 days. Broward Health will also occupy 2,000 Square Feet on the wellness floor of the new YMCA. Together, Broward Health and the YMCA will deliver community health education and programs designed to improve the quality of health and lives of residents.
