And with the answer often comes an urge to try to talk their partner into couples counseling, hoping for the ultimate fix. Not so fast, say relationship experts Stacey and Paul Martino, who warn that all-too often, couples counseling does more harm than good. “We have a completely contradictory approach to couples work, yet our results are unmatched,” Stacey Martino said. Now it’s your turn to finally get the missing piece.” The Missing Piece: A Proven Method to Single-Handedly Transform Your Relationship and Create Harmony in Your Home Available from: www.Amazon.com < Previous News Next News >

- JFR Joins Edmonds Family At White House Event Giving Medal Of Honor To Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds For Saving Jewish Servicemen | sun-times
JFR Joins Edmonds Family At White House Event Giving Medal Of Honor To Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds For Saving Jewish Servicemen Jewish Connection News Mar 17, 2026 The Jewish Foundation For The Righteous (JFR) Joins The Edmonds Family And The Survivors And Descendants Of Stalag Ixa In Celebrating Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds Posthumously Receiving The Medal Of Honor This Week At White House And Department Of War Programs. The JFR Was One Of The First Organizations To Recognize Edmonds’ World War II Heroism, Honoring Him Posthumously With The Foundation’s Yehi Or (Let There Be Light) Award In 2016. Master Sergeant Edmonds was captured by the Nazis during the Battle of the Bulge on December 19, 1944, and sent to Stalag IXA, a prisoner of war camp. As the highest-ranking American soldier in the camp, Edmonds was responsible for 1,292 American POWs, including approximately 200 Jewish American GIs. When the camp’s commandant ordered Edmonds to identify the Jewish soldiers for separation, Edmonds refused. Placing a pistol against his head, the commandant again demanded that the Jewish soldiers step forward. Edmonds responded, “We are all Jews here,” refusing to identify them and thereby saving their lives. Edmonds survived 100 days of captivity and returned home after the war, never speaking of his actions. He passed away in 1985, and it was only decades later that his son, Pastor Chris Edmonds, uncovered the full extent of his father’s heroism. In addition to presenting Edmonds with its Yehi Or Award, the JFR produced its award-winning documentary Footsteps of My Father, which recounts Edmonds’ courage through the lens of his son and several of the Jewish American POWs he saved. The film has screened globally and received numerous honors, helping to bring Edmonds’ story to audiences in the United States and abroad. His heroism has also been recognized by Yad Vashem, which named him Righteous Among the Nations, the only American soldier to receive that distinction. Master Sergeant Edmonds’ story is prominently featured in the JFR’s nationally recognized Holocaust education program on rescue and moral courage. Educators across the country study his actions as a powerful example of leadership, conscience and responsibility in the face of evil. Through teacher seminars, student curricula and public events including documentary screenings, the JFR highlights Master Sergeant Edmonds’ moral clarity and willingness to risk his life for others as a timeless model of heroism. His story continues to inspire students and educators alike, reinforcing the enduring lesson that one individual’s courage can save lives and shape history. “For years, the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous has worked to ensure that Master Sergeant Edmonds’ extraordinary courage and moral leadership would not be forgotten,” said JFR Executive Vice President Stanlee Stahl, who attended the ceremony in Washington. “The awarding of the Medal of Honor affirms what the survivors of Stalag IXA have long known, that his actions represent the highest standard of bravery, humanity and responsibility.” The JFR continues its work of providing monthly financial assistance to aged and needy Righteous Gentiles living in 10 countries. Since its founding, the JFR has provided more than $46 Million to aged and needy rescuers. Its Holocaust teacher education program has become a standard for teaching the history of the Holocaust and educating teachers and students about the significance of the Righteous as moral and ethical exemplars. - Turn To Whole Grains For A Nutritional Boost
Turn To Whole Grains For A Nutritional Boost By Family Features August 17, 2023 Share Nutritious eating, including smarter snacking, is an important way to protect your Heart and maintain Overall Health and Wellness. While many people understand the basics of healthy eating - avoiding too many sugary treats, for example - some are confused about important food categories that can impact Nutrition. According to a Survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of the American Heart Association, U.S. adults are least knowledgeable about Refined vs. Whole Grains compared to other food categories like Fruits, Vegetables and Proteins. Whole Grains are, in fact, a key feature of the Association's recommendations for a Heart-Healthy Diet. There are two types of Grain Products: Whole Grains, which contain the entire Grain and Refined Grains, which have been milled into a finer texture like Flour or Meal. Most adults, according to the Survey, are able to distinguish Whole vs. Refined Grains. However, there are a few misperceptions. Most incorrectly believe Multi-Grain Bread is a Whole Grain. Additionally, only 17% believe Sorghum is an example of a Whole Grain when it is, in fact, a Whole Grain option. Whole Grains like Sorghum, Oatmeal and Brown Rice are rich sources of Dietary Fiber, may improve Blood Cholesterol Levels and provide Nutrients that help the body form new Cells, regulate the Thyroid and maintain a healthy Immune System. These sweet, chewy Date Nut Granola Bars from the American Heart Association's Healthy for Good initiative, supported by the Sorghum Checkoff, are a perfect go-to snack for enjoying throughout the week. Popped Sorghum adds a surprise ingredient for crunchy texture while Dry-Roasted Oats and Nuts provide a delicious, toasted flavor. To discover more whole-grain recipes that can support a healthy heart, visit: www.Heart.org/healthyforgood Date Nut Granola Bars Recipe courtesy of the American Heart Association and Sorghum Checkoff Servings: 12 (1 Bar per serving) • Nonstick cooking spray • 1 1/2 Cups of Rolled Oats • 1/4 Cup of almond slices or whole almonds, coarsely chopped • 1/4 Cup of shelled pistachios, coarsely chopped • 1 Cup of pitted dates • 1/2 Cup of unsweetened dried cranberries • 1/4 Cup of uncooked whole-grain sorghum • 1/4 Cup of honey • 1/4 Cup of low-sodium peanut butter • 1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract • 1/8 Teaspoon of salt Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square baking pan with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray. On a large baking sheet, spread oats, almonds and pistachios in a single layer. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until lightly brown, stirring occasionally. Let cool slightly. In a food processor or blender, process dates and cranberries 1-1 1/2 minutes, or until chopped and clumpy. Transfer to a large bowl. Put 2 Tablespoons of Sorghum in a Silicone microwaveable bowl or clean, brown paper bag. If using a microwaveable bowl, cover with a lid. If using a paper bag, roll it shut and place it on a microwavable dinner plate with a fold facing down. Microwave it on high for 2 minutes, or until there are more than 10 seconds between pops. Repeat with the remaining Sorghum, microwaving it for 1 1/2 minutes, or until more than 10 seconds between the pops. Stir in the Popped Sorghum, the Oats, the Almonds and the Pistachios into a Date mixture. In a small saucepan over Low Heat, heat the Honey and the Peanut Butter for 5 minutes, or until the Peanut Butter is smooth and the mixture is warmed, stirring it occasionally. Remove it from the heat. Stir in the Vanilla and the Salt. Pour the Peanut Butter mixture over the Date mixture, stirring to break into small clumps. Transfer half to a baking pan. Using the bottom of the drinking glass or fingers lightly sprayed with Nonstick Cooking Spray, press down firmly to flatten and pack it tightly so the clumps adhere to each other. Repeat it with the remaining half. Freeze it covered for about 1 hour until it is firm. Place the cutting board over the pan. Turn the pan over. Discard the plastic wrap. Using a knife, cut into 12 bars. Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 week. < Previous News Next News >
- ZOA Praises Israel’s Brilliant/Precision Strike In Qatar On Arab/Islamist Hamas Leaders Responsible For October 7 And Other Massacres Of Jews | sun-times
ZOA Praises Israel’s Brilliant/Precision Strike In Qatar On Arab/Islamist Hamas Leaders Responsible For October 7 And Other Massacres Of Jews By ZOA.org Sep 18, 2025 Zionist Organization Of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein Released The Following Statement: ZOA strongly praised Israel’s precision strike in Doha, Qatar, on Arab/Islamist terror group Hamas’ leaders who were directly responsible for orchestrating, inciting, financing and facilitating Hamas’ numerous vicious atrocities and massacres against innocent Jews and other innocents – while these Arab Hamas leaders lived in luxury in Doha, Qatar with the approval of the Emir. Among many other horrors, the targeted terror leaders orchestrated, incited, financed and/or facilitated Arab/Islamist Hamas’ massive massacre, sexual atrocities and hostage-taking on October 7, 2023, and Hamas’ deadly terror attack yesterday in Jerusalem, in which Hamas terrorists murdered six innocent Jews, and wounded another six innocent Jews. Israel’s courageous action sends an important message that Arab/Islamist terrorists and their leaders responsible for murdering Jews will be brought to justice anywhere they are found, and that no nation should give sanctuary to these murderous terror leaders. ZOA President Morton Klein stated: The Zionist Organization of America is fully supportive and proud of Israel for showing its long arm of justice will reach wherever enemies of Jews reside, whether it’s Gaza, Lebanon, Iran or even Doha. The Doha attack against Arab Hamas terrorists reminds me of Israel searching all over the world and tracking down and killing the Arab terrorists who brutally tortured and murdered eleven innocent Jewish athletes at the Munich Olympics. The world should be applauding Israel for its brilliant and courageous actions protecting all of us from terrorists who are enemies of the Jews, Christians, America and the West. ZOA learned that President Trump reportedly gave the green light for Israel’s independent operation, and that on Sunday, the President posted a “last warning” to Arab Hamas to release all the hostages or face the consequences. ZOA has long demanded that Qatar must extradite the Hamas leaders living in luxury in Qatar while orchestrating attacks against innocent Jews, and send them to a jurisdiction where Hamas’ leaders could stand trial for their Nazi-like atrocities. ZOA has also urged that the U.S. must pressure and demand Qatar to extradite these terror leaders. See, e.g., “ZOA Demands and Now Urges Biden to Demand Qatar Deport & Extradite Hamas Officials to Proper Jurisdiction to Stand Trial,” October 12, 2023. In 2018, when ZOA National President Morton Klein met with the Qatari Emir and other Qatari leaders, Mr. Klein directly demanded that Qatar must expel Hamas leaders. ZOA’s accompanying report provided to the Qatari officials, demanded on page one: “Hamas: End Hamas sanctuary, housing and offices in Qatar. Expel all remaining Hamas leaders and operatives from Qatar, including but not limited to, prisoners released during the Shalit exchange who are now directing Hamas operations in Judea/Samaria/Gaza from Qatar.” (ZOA Report to Qatari Officials Demanding Changes) As of the time of this press release, there are conflicting reports as to which terror leaders died and which survived. The deaths of any of these monsters will make the world a safer place. The senior Hamas officials reportedly at the Hamas meeting in Doha targeted by Israel, included: Khaled Mashal (or Meshal): Hamas Politburo Chairman and “Diaspora director” Mashal was or is one of the six Hamas leaders that the U.S. Department of Justice indicted (in Mashal’s case, in absentia, while Hamas luxuriated in Qatar) for being “responsible for planning, supporting, and perpetrating Hamas’s October 7 terrorist attacks in Israel resulting in the brutal murders of more than a thousand innocent civilians, including over 40 American citizens.” Three days after Hamas’ October 7 atrocities, on Al-Mahriah Television, Mashal called on Muslims throughout the world to join the terror battle against Israel and to take to the streets and city squares throughout the world to perpetrate more terror on Friday, October 13, for “the Al-Aqsa Deluge Friday” (named after Hamas’ name for October 7 atrocities, the “Al-Aqsa Deluge” or “Al-Aqsa Flood”). (See MEMRI video and translation.) Unfortunately, Mashal may have survived the attack. Mashal reportedly has or had a personal net worth of $4 Billion. Khalil al-Hayya: Al-Hayya was appointed the leader of Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades in December 2024; and was a member of Hamas’ ruling five-man leadership. In the summer of 2023, al-Hayya met with IRGC Quds Force senior official Saeed Izadi, in Lebanon, and requested that Iran blow up sensitive sites in Israel at the start of Hamas’ October 7 attack, to make October 7 even more deadly for Israel. The press has been citing al-Hayya’s role as a supposed “negotiator” – while ignoring that he is a terrorist dedicated to Israel’s annihilation. Zaher Jabarin: Jabarin directed Hamas terror activities in Judea/Samaria, and was also a leader of Hamas’ financial operations. Mousa Abu Marzook: Marzook is or was a U.S.-Specially Designated National and Blocked Person. The U.S. Department of Justice indicted Marzook in absentia for coordinating and financing Hamas activities, and again indicted Marzook in absentia for a 15-year racketeering conspiracy in the United States and abroad to illegally finance terrorist activities, including providing money for weapons purchases. Marzook reportedly had or has a personal net worth of $3 Billion. Husam Badran: Infamous terror commander and head of Hamas’ terror activities in Samaria. Directed infamous terror attacks, including the deadly attacks on the Sbarro restaurant, Dolphinarium, Nahariya train station, Matza restaurant and a bus in Haifa, a bus near Emmanuel, the village of Hamra, and the Park Hotel Passover Seder filled with Holocaust survivors in Netanya, resulting in over 100 deaths and hundreds wounded. He was released by Israel in the Shalit deal, and fled to Qatar to direct Hamas activities from there. In 2015, the IDF exposed that Badran led the establishment of a sprawling Hamas terror cell and command center in Nablus and transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars to it with gold and jewelry smuggled through Jordan. Nizar Awadallah: Awadallah is a U.S.-Specially Designated Global Terrorist. He has been a member of Hamas’ Politburo since 2009, was a confidant of Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, and was previously Hamas’ leader in Gaza. Awadallah helped negotiate the 2011 deal in which Hamas released captured Israeli Gilad Shalit in exchange for 1,027 Palestinian terrorists, including Hamas terror leaders Yahya Sinwar, Zaher Jabarin, and Hussam Badran. Sunny Isles Beach Has New Temporary Sign Regulations By Mauricio Betancur, Sun Isles Beach City Clerk - www.sibfl.gov October 18, 2024 Share At its regular meeting in August, the City Commission of Sunny Isles Beach adopted an ordinance revising the regulations for all types of temporary signs, including on-premises and off-premises signs. These temporary signs are subject to specific rules. It is essential for property owners to understand that they are ultimately responsible for ensuring that any signs on their property adhere to these regulations. Below is a breakdown of the new rules governing off-premises temporary signs, which include, but are not limited to, political campaign signs. Property Owner Responsibility As a property owner, it is your responsibility to ensure compliance with these new regulations. Whether for personal, business, or political purposes, any off-premises temporary sign placed on your property must follow these rules. Failure to comply may result in the issuance of a civil violation. By understanding and following these guidelines, you help maintain the safety, aesthetics, and order of our community. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. By following these new sign regulations, you ensure that your property remains in compliance while supporting community standards for temporary signage. Key Regulations for Off-Premises Temporary Signs An off-premises sign advertises a business, product, service, or event that is not located on the same property as the sign. This is different from an on-premises sign, which advertises something that is directly related to the property, such as real estate, construction, or grand opening signs. Below are key regulations for off-premises signs: • No Permit Required. Property owners are not required to obtain a permit for off-premises temporary signs. • Number of Signs. Each property is allowed a maximum of 3 off-premises temporary signs at any given time. • Placement Restrictions. Off-premises temporary signs cannot be placed on public rights-of-way or on city-owned property. This includes utility poles, traffic signs, bus shelters, and similar City Infrastructure. If any signs are placed in violation of this rule, the city reserves the right to remove them without prior notice, which may also result in the issuance of a civil violation. • Non-Illumination Requirement. Temporary signs must remain static and cannot be illuminated in any way. This includes prohibitions on lighting that flashes, moves, rotates, blinks, or changes in intensity or color. • Consent from Property Owners. - Happy New Year And Reflections On Cuba Part 2
Happy New Year And Reflections On Cuba Part 2 By Hallandale Beach Mayor, Joy Cooper December 30, 2024 Share Many of you may be conducting your year in review, making New Year's Resolutions or simply taking part in annual New Year traditions, whatever they may be 2024 is coming to a close. Enjoy your New Year celebrations responsibly. My hope as your Mayor and neighbor is that you enter into the New Year with peace, love, hope and joy. Welcome 2025! As we reflect, I continue with my reflections of my trip to Cuba. Once we left the revolutionary square we went straight to Havana’s seaside and what is called the Malecon. This is a famous 5-mile seawall and roadway along the Havana Harbour area of Cuba. It was built in 1902. There is a mix of crumbled buildings with Spanish marble fronts left standing and shabby homes. Mixed between are inhabitable buildings that are unkempt. There are modern styled buildings built in the 1960’s with help from Russia. It was explained that the government owns everything. Many apartment buildings are unkempt as the many owners cannot afford to care for the outside or simply are not motivated since they are government controlled. There are some homes that still are family owned and continue upkeep with earned money or outside sources. Even these homes lack painting and maintenance. Eighty-five percent of the Cuban population lives in poverty. Ownership is controlled by proof of family deeds. They can be passed on, but the government can step in to take property over. When the revolution came many wealthy families kept their homes and commercial properties. While the U.S. placed sanctions on Cuba for over 50 years other countries continued trade. The most recent Trump sanctions are now impacting those ties. Properties that are collapsing, people leave or kicked out with no guarantee of a replacement. The building debris has been left in place. In one area on the Malecon a building was left and a plaza with a sculpture was put in its place. While it was beautiful to me it showed the contrast and the deep propaganda that suggests all is well. We are informed some people wait for up to ten years or more for a place to live. There are hotels mixed in along the Malecon. Tourism is one of their biggest industries. The Government is allowing the building of new hotels alongside new apartment buildings. We were told that the building has taken years and still is not complete. While United States citizens cannot freely go as tourists, other countries can and do. Still the communist government controls everything. So, what they give they can take away. We were all amazed by the Spanish architect that was still in place. It takes you back to a time when Cuba was a major gateway to the Americas. The Spanish influence on architecture is from years of Spanish control dating back from Columbus, from 1492 until 1868. 1868-1878 the people began to rise against Spain in revolt of taxation and slavery. The first led to a truce with Spain and the abolition of slavery but fell short of the promised reforms. The second was led and inspired by Jose Marti 1895 -98. Jose Marti, as I explained, is considered the father of the country that never supported Socialism or Communism. His ideology felt close to the Independence of America. The United States assisted and led the Spanish- American and in 1898 occupied the country until the Platt amendment in 1902. The country was free and developed its own constitution including the right to work and healthcare. Sadly, it was never stable. The first President Machado became a dictator. There were multiple revolts and coupes of presidents. Batista was the most infamous. Even though he lost his reelection bid he became one of the most notorious cruel Dictators using his military control and remained having profound influence until Castro led the next revolution. As they say, the rest is history. In this case, a dark history of Communism. The irony in it all was that our government supported Batista since he was opposed to Communism. They withdrew that support when the rebels led by Guevara took the upper hand in a decisive blow against Batista. Castro took over and set up a provisional government. Rather than elections he took full control over everything. He rounded up Batista to support many who were tried and executed. He created a Communist government with ties to the Soviet Union. Many Cubans fled the country. Some went to Spain. Other refugees went to South and Central America. Many fled to Miami and others to New Jersey. You read right. New Jersey’s Union City became Havana on the Hudson. Cubans always have and will remain to have ties to the United States. Many Cubans strive for a Cuba Libre. As we drove on our way to visit The National Hotel we passed the closed American Embassy. As I shared before the Embassy was reopened when Obama was in office. With the opening there was renewed hope in Havana and the country due to tourism. Directly across the courtyard of the Embassy of a propagandizing statue of Jose Marti holding Elian Gonzalez. Irony is that Elian’s mother, like many Cubans, died to bring him here. Jose Marti never supported communism. He is standing pointing a finger at the embassy and shielding Elian from the United States. The National Hotel is a magnificent building overlooking the Malecon. It resembles Hotels like Biltmore and Breakers. It also has just as much if not more history. It has been visited by many dignitaries, stars, and world-renowned musical talents, over the past one hundred years. It is a World Heritage site. It is owned by the government and sadly like many other buildings not maintained. The hotel is also well known from the movie Godfather where the famous scene was shot about the Italian Mob. - Aventura Resident Graduates From Clark University
Aventura Resident Graduates From Clark University September 19, 2024 Share Hannah Z. Ross of Aventura has received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Clark University during the University's 120th Commencement exercises recently. The University awarded 1,376 Degrees (503 Bachelor's, 847 Master's, 26 Doctoral Degrees) to the Class of 2024 and conferred four Honorary Degrees during the ceremony, which was held at the DCU Center in downtown Worcester, Massachusetts. The graduates included 653 international students representing 39 countries. Geography Professor Rinku Roy Chowdhury read a commencement address from Dr. Robert D. Bullard, "the father of environmental justice" and the Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy at Texas Southern University, who was unable to attend in person due to an illness. "Every successful progressive social movement in the United States has had strong, fearless, and dedicated young people and students leading the way, pushing hard at the front and pressing for justice now, rather than justice delayed," Bullard wrote. Bullard grew up a child of the Jim Crow South, attending all-Black elementary, middle, and high schools and undergraduate college. In a speech that cited a number of environmental justice milestones over the years, Bullard wrote that he was "happy to be able to pass the baton to the up-and-coming generations of environmental justice advocates who will continue with the same resilience that so many involved in the journey have already shown." In addition to Bullard, Honorary Degrees were conferred to Sean B. Carroll, Distinguished University Professor and Balo-Simon Chair of Biology at the University of Maryland, who has been called "the greatest science storyteller of our time;" Akiko Iwasaki, Sterling Professor of Immunobiology at the Yale University School of Medicine, who researches the mechanisms of immune defense against viruses at mucosal surfaces; and Michel Nischan, a four-time James Beard Award-Winning Chef and champion of the farm-to-table concept. Two members of the Class of 2024 also spoke during the ceremony. Laila El-Samra addressed her fellow undergraduates and said that during the COVID years, "Clark's unique spirit prevailed, fostering resilience and solidarity." Graduate student speaker Gabe Spindel lauded Clark for providing a diverse learning environment. "We encompass every corner of the earth," he said. "Celebrating Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, and the Chinese New Year has enriched me in a way no classroom ever could." In closing, Clark President David B. Fithian told the graduates, "My greatest hope for you is that you truly relish the never finished business of the project that is you, that you embrace the joy of discovery still ahead, and that you seize the opportunities to learn even more about the world, yourself, and what fulfills you." Founded in 1887, Clark University is a Liberal Arts-Based Research University that prepares its students to meet tomorrow's most daunting challenges and embrace its greatest opportunities. Through more than 45 undergraduate majors and major tracks, more than 30 advanced degree programs, a growing number of professional certificate programs and nationally recognized community partnerships, Clark fuses rigorous scholarship with authentic world and workplace experiences that empower our students to pursue lives and careers of meaning and consequence. < Previous News Next News >
