1,700 Young Jews From Around The World Gather In Tel Aviv For Birthright Israel Summer Event Jewish Connection News Aug 27, 2026 Approximately 1,700 Young Jewish Adults From Around The World Attended Birthright Israel’s Main Summer Event Tuesday Night At The Tel Aviv Amphitheater, Attended By Dr. Miriam Adelson, Birthright Israel International CEO Gidi Mark, And Meir Shamir, Chairman Of The Organization’s Israeli Board Of Directors. The Event Marked The Peak Of Birthright Israel’s Summer Season, During Which Approximately 15,000 Young Jews From 34 Countries Are Visiting Israel For Educational Trips, Volunteer Opportunities And Fellowship Programs. Against the backdrop of escalating security threats in recent weeks and a sharp decline in tourism to Israel, thousands of participants chose to travel to Israel with Birthright Israel, experience the country firsthand and see the reality beyond the headlines. The festive evening brought together young Jewish adults from around the world for an immersive Israeli cultural experience, culminating in performances by Itay Galo, Netta Barzilai and Eden Golan. An All-Time Low By John & Nisha Whitehead October 3, 2024 Share Don’t Trust The Government With Your Privacy, Property Or Your Freedoms - Public trust in the government to “do what is right” understandably remains at an all-time low. After all, how do you trust a government that continuously sidesteps the Constitution and undermines our rights? You can’t. Public trust in the government to “do what is right” understandably remains at an all-time low. After all, how do you trust a government that continuously sidesteps the Constitution and undermines our rights? You can’t. When you consider all the ways “we the people” are being bullied, beaten, bamboozled, targeted, tracked, repressed, robbed, impoverished, imprisoned and killed by the government, one can only conclude that you shouldn’t trust the government with your privacy, your property, your life, or your freedoms. Consider for yourself. Don’t trust the government with your privacy, digital or otherwise. In the more than two decades since 9/11, the military-security industrial complex has operated under a permanent state of emergency that, in turn, has given rise to a digital prison that grows more confining and inescapable by the day. Wall-to-wall surveillance, monitored by AI software and fed to a growing network of fusion centers, render the twin concepts of privacy and anonymity almost void. Don’t trust the government with your property. If government agents can invade your home, break down your doors, kill your dog, damage your furnishings and terrorize your family, your property is no longer private and secure—it belongs to the government. Hard-working Americans are having their bank accounts, homes, cars, electronics and cash seized by police under the assumption that they have allegedly been associated with some criminal scheme. Don’t trust the government with your finances. The U.S. Government—and that includes the current administration—is spending money it doesn’t have on programs it can’t afford and “we the taxpayers” are being forced to foot the bill for the government’s fiscal insanity. The national debt is $35 Trillion and growing, yet there seems to be no end in sight when it comes to the government’s fiscal insanity. According to Forbes, Congress has raised, extended or revised the definition of the debt limit 78 times since 1960 in order to allow the government to essentially fund its existence with a credit card. Don’t trust the government with your health. For all intents and purposes, “we the people” have become lab rats in the government’s secret experiments, which include MKULTRA and the U.S. military’s secret race-based testing of mustard gas on more than 60,000 enlisted men. Indeed, you don’t have to dig very deep or go very back in the nation’s history to uncover numerous cases in which the government deliberately conducted secret experiments on an unsuspecting populace—citizens and non-citizens alike—making healthy people sick by spraying them with chemicals, injecting them with infectious diseases and exposing them to airborne toxins. Unfortunately, the public has become so easily distracted by the political spectacle out of Washington, DC, that they are altogether oblivious to the grisly experiments, barbaric behavior and inhumane conditions that have become synonymous with the U.S. government, which has meted out untold horrors against humans and animals alike. Don’t trust the government with your life: At a time when growing numbers of unarmed people have been shot and killed for just standing a certain way, or moving a certain way, or holding something—anything—that police could misinterpret to be a gun, or igniting some trigger-centric fear in a police officer’s mind that has nothing to do with an actual threat to their safety, even the most benign encounters with police can have fatal consequences. The number of Americans killed by police continues to grow, with the majority of those killed as a result of police encounters having been suspected of a non-violent offense or no crime at all, or during a traffic violation. According to a report by Mapping Police Violence, police killed more people in 2022 than any other year within the past decade. In 98% of those killings, police were not charged with a crime. Don’t trust the government with your freedoms. For years now, the government has been playing a cat-and-mouse game with the American people, letting us enjoy just enough freedom to think we are free but not enough to actually allow us to live as a free people. On paper, we may be technically free, but in reality, we are only as free as a government official may allow. Whatever else it may be—a danger, a menace, a threat—the U.S. government is certainly not looking out for our best interests, nor is it in any way a friend to freedom. Remember the purpose of a good government is to protect the lives and liberties of its people. Unfortunately, what we have been saddled with is, in almost every regard, the exact opposite of an institution dedicated to protecting the lives and liberties of its people. “We the people” should have learned early on that a government that repeatedly lies, cheats, steals, spies, kills, maims, enslaves, breaks the laws, overreaches its authority, and abuses its power at almost every turn can’t be trusted. So what’s the answer? For starters, get back to basics. Get to know your neighbors, your community, and your local officials. Second, understand your rights. Know how your local government is structured. Who serves on your city council and school boards? Who runs your local jail: has it been co opted by private contractors? What recourse does the community have to voice concerns about local problems or disagree with decisions by government officials? Third, know the people you’re entrusting with your local government. Are your police chiefs being promoted from within your community? Are your locally elected officials accessible and equally important, are they open to what you have to say? Who runs your local media? Does your newspaper report on local events? Who are your judges? Are their judgments fair and impartial? How are prisoners being treated in your local jails? Finally, don’t get so trusting and comfortable that you stop doing the hard work of holding your government accountable. As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, there is still a lot Americans can do to topple the police state tyrants, but any revolution that has any hope of succeeding needs to be prepared to reform the system from the bottom up. And that will mean re-learning step by painful step, what it actually means to be a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Reserve the 1/4 Cup of Onion for garnish; add the remaining Onion to the pot and season with it the Salt. Sauté until translucent for about 5 minutes. Increase the heat to medium-high; add the Pork Chorizo and break it apart with a spoon. Cook the Chorizo undisturbed until it is deeply browned and cooked through for 3-5 minutes. Add the Smoked Paprika and the Oregano and cook it for 30 seconds, or until it is fragrant. Pour in the Salsa and scrape up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring it to a simmer for 1-2 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly then add the Stock and bring it to a simmer. Stir in the Diced Chicken and the Hominy. Decrease the heat to medium and cook it for 8-10 minutes until the Chicken is cooked through. Taste and season it with more Salt, if necessary then remove it from the heat. Serve the bowls of the Pozole with the reserved Onion, the Lime Wedges, the Crumbled Queso Fresco and the Chopped Cilantro. Mexican Loaded Mashed Potatoes Prep time: 35 minutes Cook time: 40 minutes Servings: 10 • 3 Pounds of Russet Potatoes (about 9 medium potatoes), peeled and cubed • Water • 6 Strips of Bacon, chopped • 1 Package of Cacique Pork Chorizo • 12 Ounces of Cacique Crema Mexicana • 1/2 Cup of Butter, cubed • 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Onion Powder • 1 Teaspoon of Salt • 1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder • 1/2 Teaspoon of Pepper • 1 Cup of Cacique Oaxaca or Queso Quesadilla, shredded • 1/2 Cup of Cacique Crema Mexicana Agria, for topping (optional) • 3 Green Onions, chopped In a Dutch oven, add the Potatoes and cover them with the Water. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat; cook it uncovered for 10-15 minutes or until it is tender. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Bacon until it is crisp. Drain it on the paper towels, chop it into small pieces and set them aside. Remove the Bacon Grease from the skillet and cook the Chorizo over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes. Drain the Potatoes and add them to the pan. Mash the Potatoes, gradually adding the Crema Mexicana, the Butter, the Onion Powder, the Salt, the Garlic Powder and the Pepper. Transfer them to a greased 13-by-9-inch baking dish; sprinkle them with the Cheese, the Chorizo and the Bacon. Refrigerate, covered for up to 1 day. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Remove the Potatoes from the refrigerator and let them stand while the oven heats. Bake them covered for about 30 minutes. Uncover it; bake them for 10 minutes, or until they are heated through. Rule By a Few: Real Americans and the American Oligarchy By Marilyn M. Singleton, M.D., J.D. March 31, 2022 Share ol·i·gar·chy: a small group of people having control of a country, organization or institution. Driving across our country makes one appreciate this glorious and (dare I say) exceptional country. The diverse landscapes are a feast for the eyes. Food for the soul is the affirmation that most Americans love their families, treasure America and enjoy their fellow Americans whether they be white, black or somewhere in between. Daily, the media dutifully informs us that coastal and urban residents about gender fluidity, diversity training and decarbonizing energy systems to avert the coming environmental Armageddon. When the media could not flog us with a juicy COVID-19 tragedy, they resurrected a tired but effective angst-inducing headlines about the imminent big earthquake. Why would the media-government complex want to demoralize its citizens and have them live in fear and anxiety even when a “crisis” has been resolved? To make them rely on the government, rather than themselves for their day to day needs. To steer them from respecting the Democratic Republic formed by our Constitution to accepting Government Control of their lives. Fear lays the groundwork for unquestioning compliance. Federal and State Governments have used the COVID-19 Pandemic as a justification to cross the line from public safety measures into tyranny. Despite the decreasing COVID-19 Cases, the National COVID-19 Emergency Declaration was extended beyond March 1st, 2022. The National Emergency Designation gives the President more than 100 special powers that can bypass legal procedures ranging from banking to public health and anything else the Government wants to control. Despite a long tradition of differing opinions regarding medical disease processes and treatments, the Government has discouraged such discussions regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic. First, the Surgeon General simply asked us to help stop “misinformation” because it “pollutes our information environment.” A few short months later, the Feds are demanding that Social Networks, Search Engines, Crowdsourced Platforms, E-Commerce Platforms and Instant Messaging Systems send Data and Analysis on the prevalence of COVID-19 misinformation on their sites. Translation: divergent opinions will be censored once the Government discovers how to do so. What happened to our respect for the marketplace of ideas? If tracking our computer use doesn’t work, we have the National Patient ID, a single number issued by the Federal Government containing all of the details of a person's Medical Records from cradle to grave. The concept has been around for more than 25 years as part of HIPAA. However, Congress banned itself from funding such an undertaking. In 2019, Congress lifted the funding ban despite the very real possibility that a National Patient ID could allow for large-scale tracking of Americans through their Healthcare Records. What happened to the Confidential Patient-Physician Relationship based on trust and privacy? Such Government Overreach and Intrusion are becoming commonplace. We are perilously close to losing “The Government Of The People, By The People And For The People.” Our Government is increasingly populated with close-minded lifelong Bureaucrats like Dr. Anthony Fauci and the influential career Politicians who are hardly the working man’s heroes like Nancy “let them eat ice cream” Pelosi. Universities—grooming our future leaders—have become politically imbalanced and intolerant of open discourse. We hear about how the evil Russian and Ukrainian Oligarchs who profited from Political Unrest are pulling the strings of their Governments. We are trending toward our own Classic Oligarchy, the rule by a few. We have our own wealthy ideologies who have transitioned from mere annoying elitists into toxic powerbrokers promoting their own agendas. Notables include: Mark Zuckerberg (Meta/Facebook), Jeff Bezos (Amazon, Washington Post), Bill Gates (Microsoft), George Soros (Open Society Foundation). Meanwhile, runaway inflation is making it harder for Americans to afford basic necessities. Filling one’s automobile with gas is now an exercise in emotional and financial misery. The reaction of Secretary of Transportation Buttigieg and Vice President Harris are indicative of their disdain for the average American. Can't afford gas? Buy a $45,000 electric car. This dismissive rhetoric does not comport with reality. In 2020, there were 286.9 million cars in the US with 1 million electric vehicles. Moreover, the electric grid absolutely could not support a sudden influx of electric vehicles, given the brown-outs across the country in winter and summer. This political and powerful class of people want to change the way we live and think—whether we like it or not. We will never have as much money to buy Political influence as do the American Oligarchs. But we do have our voices. Parents are speaking up about their Schools’ Curricula and toxic overtly Racist Policies that perversely Segregate Students by skin color and Laws that bypass parental input into their children’s medical decisions. Physician office practices are changing to meet the needs of patients, not Insurance and Pharmaceutical Companies. Physicians who have fought for open medical discussions about Vaccine Safety and Efficacy are leaving their mark. CDC Director Walensky finally publicly admitted that the COVID-19 Vaccines do not stop transmission of the Virus. Many physicians have gone from looking at their unvaccinated patients in horror to “I respect your choice.” The Oligarchs do not represent the real America. It’s up to us to carry on the legacy of American heroes who thought for themselves and bucked the system. The Shvesters are finally bringing their music to the stage in Aventura, supported by pianist Moshe Elmakias, with a performance that is sure to transport the audience to another world. Miami International Piano Festival presents Ilya Itin, known for his extraordinary range, power, quality of sound and command of the piano, on Sunday, March 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. Since capturing the Gold Medal, BBC Audience Award and Contemporary Music Prize at the 1996 Leeds International Piano Competition, Itin has performed throughout the world bringing his powerful musical imagination and mastery to wide ranging repertoire. Itin’s “Russian Marathon” concerts at the Miami International Piano Festival captured his historic recording of all 24 Preludes of Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev’s 7th and 8th Sonatas performed in one day. He released his newest recording of the complete Debussy Preludes on vinyl and high-definition audio in 2016 and his Princeton recital in July 2015 that featured beloved works by Rachmaninov and Scriabin will also be released as a state-of-the-art high-definition recording of the live performance. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of non-biodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products. Who must comply with the ban and when does it take affect? Beginning October 1, 2018, according to Chapter 97.05 of the City of Hollywood Code of Ordinances, any establishment located east of the Intracoastal Waterway selling food intended for consumption by customers off the premises of their business, is included in the ban. Additionally, on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, the City Commission approved a ban on single-use plastics and polystyrene on City-owned properties and by City vendors. City-owned properties include the beach, parks, playgrounds, community centers, Hollywood City Hall and other City building and facilities. What types of food packaging are banned? Bottles, bags, cups, lids, straws, plates, bowls, utensils, sandwich containers, or other packaging, which are made of plastic, polystyrene plastic, or of any non-biodegradable material are banned. What is polystyrene and why did the City of Hollywood ban it? Polystyrene, best known as “styrofoam,” is a non-biodegradable plastic material made from petroleum. It is commonly used in takeout containers, disposable coffee cups, single-use utensils and dinnerware. The material breaks apart easily, and is often found littered throughout waterways and can harm wildlife if ingested. How do you identify polystyrene packaging? Polystyrene material can be identified with this symbol marked on the packaging: My business is using the banned food packaging products. What do we do now? If you’ve verified that your business is using these products, you should contact your sales representative or wholesaler to assist you in transitioning to non-polystyrene food packaging. What types of food packaging can be used? Businesses may use any compostable materials or paper. Businesses may also access the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), which is an online catalog of key individuals and groups from government, industry and academia, which promotes the use and recycling of biodegradable polymeric materials (via composting). Ban on the Intentional Release of Balloons Effective Wednesday, October 21, 2020, the City Commission approved a ban on the intentional release of balloons in the City of Hollywood. What will happen if my business does not comply with the ban? Businesses found using these products after October 1, 2018 will be issued a Code Violation and could face fines for failing to comply.
