Just Days Before Passover Began Deb El Food Products And The Gibber Family, Partnered With Met Council In The Organization’s Largest Passover Food Distribution In History, Provided More Than 3.5 Million Pounds Of Kosher-For-Passover Food That Helped Families Across New York City And Long Island Celebrate The Holiday With Dignity, Despite Rising Food Costs.

As part of the Great American Egg Drive, Deb El Food Products and the Gibber Family donated 2,100,000 eggs to the Met Council’s distribution efforts, ensuring families receive this essential holiday staple. The distribution reached more than 350,000 people through 250 distribution points, conducted in partnership with 230 community organizations and local food pantries, and supported by over 800 volunteers, including government officials and community members.

Supporting local communities is a cause close to the heart of America’s egg farmers, who donate eggs to food banks and hunger relief organizations year-round. This spring, the American Egg Board expanded those efforts through the Great American Egg Drive, delivering eggs directly from farms to food banks nationwide so that wholesome, nutritious protein reaches families who need it most.

In the weeks leading up to Passover, the Met Council surged over $6 Million worth of food to its pantries, partners, and special distribution sites. In addition to the eggs, other staples included 61,000 pounds of matzah, over 51,000 gallons of grape juice, Kosher-for-Passover chicken, gefilte fish, tuna, apple sauce, borscht, cake mix, chopped walnuts, cocoa powder, jam, lemon juice, macaroons, matzah meal, potato starch, sugar, tomato sauce, vinegar, fresh fruits and vegetables.

“We are deeply honored to give back to the communities we serve,” said Deb El Food Products Vice President Michael Gibber. “This year, we are proud to contribute over 2.1 million eggs to help more than 350,000 people celebrate Passover with dignity. Giving back is at the core of who we are, and supporting the Jewish community during this important holiday is one of the most meaningful ways we can make a difference. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.”

“Giving back to our communities is a fundamental value that has been passed down through generations,” said Deb El Food Products President and CEO Elliot Gibber. “We are committed to finding opportunities to support those we serve, and our partnership with the American Egg Board allows us to share the nutritional value of eggs with families in need. It is rewarding to see how our contributions help bring comfort and joy to so many during the holiday season.”

“The generosity of Deb El Food Products and the Gibber Family in donating 2.1 million eggs was truly remarkable,” said Met Council CEO David G. Greenfield. “Thanks to their support and our partnership with the Great American Egg Drive, families across New York City and Long Island have access to this essential Passover staple. This collaboration helped make the holiday brighter for food-insecure families and underscores the power of community working together to fight hunger.”

This year’s distribution reflected a significant expansion in both scale and impact. Powered by hundreds of volunteers and a network of community partners, Met Council is reaching deeper into neighborhoods and serving more families than ever before. The organization’s efforts ensure that Jewish families across the region could celebrate Passover with dignity, regardless of economic circumstances.

As inflation and economic uncertainty continue to affect families year-round, the Met Council remains committed to fighting food insecurity and expanding its efforts beyond Passover, leveraging partnerships with government agencies, corporate sponsors, and community organizations to provide emergency food assistance to Jewish families in need.
