  • Keller’s Korner - 2025 Boca Raton Bowl | sun-times

Keller’s Korner - 2025 Boca Raton Bowl By Neil Keller Jan 28, 2026 Welcome To Keller’s Korner. Since 1986, I Have Been Collecting Memorabilia Of Famous Jewish People In Sports, Entertainment, Politics, And Other Areas. That Is Why It Was Especially Exciting To Cover The December 23rd, 2025 Boca Raton Bowl Between Louisville And Toledo — Because I Learned There Were Five Jewish Individuals On The Field Representing Those Two Teams. The game, played at Florida Atlantic University and shown on ESPN, was a thriller. Louisville edged Toledo 27–22 in one of the closest Boca Raton Bowls in recent memory. The atmosphere was electric, highlighted by Comedian Keegan-Michael Key firing up the crowd and Navy SEALs skydiving into the stadium. Louisville featured three Jewish players — including one from Davie, Florida — while Toledo had one Jewish player and a Jewish head coach. Louisville’s Jewish Players The Cardinals, representing the ACC, entered as favorites. Their starting quarterback, Miller Moss, has a Jewish father, Eric, whom he credits for inspiring his football journey. “My father was my first coach when I was just five or six years old,” Miller told me. A USC transfer, he added, “I hope to get in the NFL and I am excited for the draft.” His favorite NFL quarterback is Joe Burrow. Miller grew up in California and shared, “We celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas.” His mother Emily said, “I am so proud of him.” His father Eric added, “He is a hero in a time that needs heroes.” When I asked Miller about his parents, he said, “I am super grateful to them. I am super proud to be their son.” Another standout is Shai Kochav, who lives in Davie, Florida and attended TRU Prep Academy in Miami Gardens. A 5‑star long snapper recruited by LSU, Army, and other colleges, Shai possesses a rare skill set that should draw NFL attention. “I will continue to train and hopefully make an NFL team,” Shai told me. His girlfriend Hannah added, “He is the hardest worker I know. He takes his work very seriously and is a great person and player.” Shai’s parents, Mike and Pam Kochav, proudly wore their Kochav jerseys at the game. Pam also sported a button with her son’s photo and told me, “I am very proud of him.” Standing 6’3”, Shai is not someone you want to mess with — he’s a third‑degree black belt and a five‑time Taekwondo world champion. Louisville also has Jewish punter Carter Schwartz, though I was told he was not at the game. Toledo’s Jewish Representation Toledo, which plays in the Mid-American Conference, had one Jewish player and, notably, a Jewish head coach. Jason Candle served as head coach throughout the 2025 Season but accepted the UConn job shortly before the bowl game. As a result, Robert Weiner was elevated to head coach just three weeks before kickoff. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with Robert. Jewish college football coaches are rare — Jedd Fisch and Ryan Silverfield are among the few — but Robert is a rising star who had the Rockets prepared on short notice. “Football coaching has been my love since 1989,” he told me. “I started at my alma mater, Jesuit High School, as an assistant coach. From there I was the head coach at Plant High School for 16 years. We won four Florida State titles and 14 district titles.” Robert left Plant after the 2019 Season to join Toledo’s staff in 2020. Raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey before moving to Tampa, he joked, “I still have the cassette that had my Haftorah on it. I remember it was on December 10th.” At the post‑game press conference, the love his players have for him was obvious. Emotional at the table, he said, “There are no moral victories. It was the greatest privilege to be the head coach for the Boca Raton Bowl.” Robert will be coaching at another college in 2026. I did not get a chance to speak with Tanner Rubinstein, but he is also a Jewish player for the Rockets. Voices Around the Bowl Doug Mosley, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Bowl since its inception in 2014, is a walking encyclopedia of the event. He told me, “We had the game on December 23rd so more children could attend as school is out.” He also noted that December 23rd is the anniversary of the very first Boca Raton Bowl, when Marshall defeated Northern Illinois. Scott Singer, Mayor of Boca Raton since April 2018, said, “I have attended all 12 bowl games. This might be one of the best as it was a close game.” Fran Nachlas, the Deputy Mayor of Boca Raton, added, “I have attended the last three bowl games.” I love Fran’s enthusiasm, and she shared that she will be running for Boca Raton Mayor in 2026. I also enjoyed speaking with ESPN’s Evan Cohen, co-host of the early‑morning show “Unsportsmanlike with Evan, Canty and Michelle.” Like Mayor Singer, Evan said, “I have been to all the Boca Raton Bowl games and love them all.” I encourage everyone to attend the Boca Raton Bowl in 2026. • Meet Flat Fee Legal Service: Serving Victims of Property Damage at no Cost

Meet Flat Fee Legal Service: Serving Victims of Property Damage at no Cost By Austin Torres January 20, 2022 Share If you are the victim of property damage, whether it may be hurricane, flood, windstorm, water or fire-related, the associates at Flat Fee Legal Service will come to you, review your policy and your property damage to provide a free opinion on whether your property is covered and whether you have a valid insurance claim. During Hurricane season, it is especially important to know what your home insurance policy covers in the event that your home is damaged. Local property damage attorney, Jesse O’Hara and his stellar team of professionals at Flat Fee Legal Service are offering free insurance policy reviews and property inspections to ensure you and your family are protected this season. “We are offering free consultations with expert attorneys to review the insurance policies of clients and inform them of what type of coverage they have before the next storm hits us,” says O’Hara. O’Hara, who has handled thousands of property damage claims, has dedicated his legal career to taking on Florida’s insurance companies to ensure that property damage victims are paid what they are rightfully owed on their claims. In most cases, Flat Fee Legal Service provides legal services free of charge to homeowners - as opposed to most other law firms that charge their own clients. “We represent homeowners against their insurance companies in property damage disputes whenever their claims are denied or underpaid. We pay all the upfront costs and are only paid when the homeowner gets paid. The homeowner keeps their portion of the settlement proceeds and we are almost always compensated by the insurance companies, not the homeowner,” says O’Hara. If you are the victim of property damage, whether it may be hurricane, flood, windstorm, water or fire-related, the associates at Flat Fee Legal Service will come to you, review your policy and your property damage to provide a free opinion on whether your property is covered and whether you have a valid insurance claim. Quite often, when a homeowner is the victim of property damage such as a pipe leak, for example, they might hire a plumber and pay them an enormous fee to have it fixed and then submit the bill to their insurance company in hopes of being reimburs-ed. However, the professional team at Flat Fee Legal Service assists ho-meowners by working with companies that do not charge the homeowner. Instead, such companies do the work and negotiate directly with the insurance company for their payment. This is a way that we help homeowners fix their homes without going out of pocket or paying legal fees. These companies bill the insurance companies directly instead of taking up-front payment from homeowners. With a strong reputation in trial courts and long-standing relationships with insurance companies, O’Hara and his associates take great pride in assisting clients and ensuring they are paid fairly. Simply put, Flat Fee Legal Service keeps the roof over your head when insurance companies refuse to help. “It’s very rewarding when a court recognizes that your client is right and deserves to have their home fixed. The biggest satisfaction is when we settle their case and hand them their check - they are finally happy they can get their lives back on track. We get a thrill from winning substantial victories on behalf of our clients.” The team at Flat Fee Legal Service is highly engaged with their clients. They pride themselves in being easy to reach and communicate with throughout the entire claims process, which separates them from other larger, less personal firms. “What distinguishes us from a larger firm is that the clients have more one on one attention.” If you are a victim of property damage and are in need of assistance, you can rest assured knowing that the associates at Flat Fee Legal Service will go above and beyond to ensure you are properly compensated by assisting you from the very beginning of your claim all the way until your case is settled. Another aspect that underscores the uniqueness of the Flat Fee Legal Service team is their work culture and accommodating environment. Visitors of their office will note the modern art, highly relaxing, inviting and comforting layout of their office. The firm staff understand how stressful it is to battle your insurance company while your home is in a state of disrepair. By creating a different atmosphere that stands in stark contrast to typical law firms, they foster a welcoming space for visitors that is both brighter and more laid back. In doing this, Flat Fee Legal Service fosters an environment that is more welcoming than other law firms. This ensures that employees and clients alike can communicate and forge beneficial relationships in a healthy and happy space. O’Hara and his team of professionals understand that it is always possible to go above and beyond to assist their clients. Another way in which they hope to achieve this is by educating homeowners through the Florida Property Damage Podcast – a radio-style show that O’Hara hosts and is currently in development. With the goal of interviewing common players in the industry such as public adjusters, water mitigation companies, mold testing companies, attorneys and insurance adjusters, they hope to familiarize the general public with how the intricate insurance claims process really works. Licensed and recognized by Florida’s Supreme Court for his remarkable work in the community, O’Hara and his team hope to continue educating homeowners and helping them get paid money they are rightfully owed. Flat Fee Legal Service is located at 1700 East Las Olas Boulevard, Suite #102, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. • The AI Layoff Scapegoat: What's Really Driving The Job Loss Wave | sun-times

The AI Layoff Scapegoat: What's Really Driving The Job Loss Wave South Florida Sun Times Apr 30, 2026 Federal Reserve Data Shows Just 18% Of U.S. Firms Have Adopted AI. In The Latest Earnings Cycle, Only About One In Four S&P 500 Companies Reported Measurable AI Impact. Yet References To AI Driven Efficiency And Restructuring Are Accelerating. At the same time, hiring is slowing across white collar sectors, contract work is rising, and companies are quietly reducing full time roles despite strong headline jobs data. For businesses and professionals alike, this is the disconnect defining the current environment. Former Deutsche Bank Executive and Venture Capital Partner Chitra Nawbatt says AI is not driving most layoffs. It is being used to explain them. “AI is not replacing most jobs today. It is becoming the language companies use to justify decisions they were already planning to make.” Nawbatt says the impact extends beyond corporate strategy and is now reshaping how professionals experience the workforce. “People are being asked to deliver more with less, adapt faster, and compete at a higher level, even as opportunities become less predictable. That gap is where the real pressure is coming from.” Nawbatt can break down, in clear terms relevant to both business operators and the workforce: • Why AI driven layoffs are often narrative driven rather than technology driven • Why hiring is slowing even as economic headlines remain positive • How companies are increasing output expectations while reducing headcount • Why more professionals are being pushed into contract and project-based roles • How to tell whether a business or career move is based on real demand or market narrative • What both leaders and employees should focus on to stay competitive in a mixed signal economy Nawbatt, Author of The CodeBreaker Mindset, works with organizations from startups to Fortune 500 companies on AI, markets, and strategy. She advises both business leaders and professionals to focus on the incentives behind decisions, not the narratives surrounding them. She is available for immediate interviews and commentary to help audiences understand what is actually driving both business decisions and career outcomes right now. About the Expert Renowned Strategic Growth Advisor and Business Builder Chitra Nawbatt Chitra Nawbatt is a systems-level strategist and former global business journalist known for decoding how power, careers, and leadership actually work in the age of AI – concurrently revealing why traditional playbooks are quietly failing. • Navigating Hollywood: Understanding The City's Transportation Services | sun-times

Navigating Hollywood: Understanding The City's Transportation Services South Florida Sun Times Apr 17, 2025 Hollywood Residents And Visitors Have Access To Two Key Transit Options Designed To Improve Mobility: The Holly-Go Community Shuttle And The Sun Shuttle On-Demand Service. While Both Services Aim To Make Getting Around Easier, They Cater To Different Travel Needs. Understanding How They Operate And What Makes Each Unique Can Help People Choose The Best Option For Their Daily Commute Or Leisure Trips. The Holly-Go Community Shuttle, launched in October 2024, follows a fixed-route system. This service is entirely FREE and runs on a set schedule, offering a structured and predictable transportation experience. With five 18-passenger vans and four color-coded routes—Red, Orange, Blue and Green—the Holly-Go efficiently connects different parts of the City. It is particularly useful for those who prefer a reliable service with predetermined stops, ensuring they can plan their trips with confidence. Managed by the City and funded by the Broward County Surtax, Holly-Go is designed to support daily errands and other essential journeys within Hollywood. The Holly-Go vans are white with a Holly-Go logo located on each side. On the other hand, the Sun Shuttle offers a more flexible, on-demand transportation alternative. Unlike the Holly-Go Shuttle, which adheres to a fixed schedule, the Sun Shuttle allows riders to request rides via the "Ride Circuit" app, picking them up and dropping them off within designated operating locations. The service is not free, but remains affordable at just $2 per ride. The Sun Shuttle has two locations: Hollywood East, which has been operational for years and is funded by both the City and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and Hollywood West, a newer location launched in September 2023 that is solely funded by the City. This service is best suited for those who value flexibility and convenience, offering door-to-door transportation without the need to follow a strict schedule. The service uses an all-electric fleet of vehicles that are colorfully wrapped. Hollywood’s dual transit system, a combination of structured, free community shuttles and flexible, on-demand electric vehicles, has provided critical mobility for thousands of residents. As the City refines these services, improvements will focus on optimizing vehicle availability, reducing wait times, improved connectivity with other transit options such as Tri-Rail, Broward County Transit and enhancing the overall rider experience. With these adjustments, Hollywood aims to maintain a transit system that is not only efficient and affordable, but also responsive to the evolving needs of its residents.
