  • Recently Diagnosed? A Study Is Available For Adults Living With Someone With COVID-19

Recently Diagnosed? A Study Is Available For Adults Living With Someone With COVID-19 June 23, 2022 Share In the third year of the COVID-19 Pandemic, there continue to be surges in cases in parts of the United States. Many of these cases may occur when people catch the virus in their communities, and bring it home, where it can spread to other members of their household. Some doctors are currently enrolling individuals for a clinical study to determine whether an investigational oral medicine may be able to help prevent that household transmission. Clinical studies are research studies performed with volunteers that aim to evaluate if investigational treatments are safe and effective for people. "There is a continuing need to investigate new therapies to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19," said Dr. Fabian Sandoval, president & CEO of the Emerson Clinical Research Institute. "In particular, we need to focus on people living with SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals because they're at higher risk of becoming infected and continuing the spread due to their close proximity to these individuals for extended periods of time." Unvaccinated adults living with someone who is symptomatic and recently tested positive for COVID-19 may be able to enroll in a clinical study, called MOVe-AHEAD, which is evaluating an investigational oral antiviral medicine to help prevent COVID-19 infection within households. The MOVe-AHEAD clinical study is being conducted at over 50 sites across the U.S. To take part in the study, individuals must be 18 years or older and cannot have confirmed or suspected COVID-19. Individuals are not eligible to participate if they have received a COVID-19 vaccine or have previously had laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Additionally, potential study participants must live with an adult or child who: • Tested positive for COVID-19 in the last five days; and currently has at least one symptom of COVID-19, such as fever or difficulty breathing For a household to qualify for the study, there can be only one household member with symptoms of COVID-19 and a positive test. Once accepted, participants will be in the study for up to 35 days and have six visits to the clinic, with one of the visits being virtual by telephone. Those enrolled in the study will receive study-related care at no cost, and may receive reimbursement for study-related time and travel. "Through this clinical study, people have an opportunity to potentially help uncover new medicines that may help prevent COVID-19 transmission." • What Professional Locksmiths Say Homeowners Get Wrong About Security | sun-times

What Professional Locksmiths Say Homeowners Get Wrong About Security By Family Features Mar 26, 2026 You Have Locks On Your Doors And Windows, And You Make Sure They're Secure Before You Leave The House Or Head To Bed Each Night. You May Even Have A Security System With An Alarm Or Cameras To Protect Your Home. Some Locksmiths Say That May Not Be Enough. Bryan McCabe, Director of Locksmith Operations with KeyMe Locksmiths, the nation's leading provider of local locksmith services and No. 1 provider of key duplication kiosks, said homeowners should be mindful of common security vulnerabilities, many of which go unnoticed until it's too late. A thief who wants to gain access to your home may do so by any means possible, including breaking windows or kicking in doors. However, those methods are loud and may attract attention. Instead, thieves will look to find the easiest house to enter. Consider these small changes you can make to deter thieves from your home. Close the Garage Leaving your garage door open may seem harmless, but it can signal easy access to thieves. An open garage suggests relaxed security habits and can make burglars assume doors or windows might also be unlocked. Keeping it closed is a simple step that instantly makes your home more secure. Make Your Home Look Lived-In Burglars often target homes that appear empty. Dark houses - especially after nightfall - can stand out as easy opportunities. Leaving a light or two on helps create the impression someone is home. If you want to level up, use light timers or smart bulbs to automatically turn lights on and off, even when you're away. Keep Your Home Visible from the Street Thieves prefer to work unnoticed. Overgrown trees, tall bushes, or dense landscaping near entrances can provide cover for someone trying to break in. Trimming greenery and maintaining clear sightlines from the street makes your home less appealing and more exposed - exactly what burglars want to avoid. Upgrade Entry Points to Improve Security Some relatively minor updates can make a big impact toward protecting your home. Start by assessing all home entry points, including secondary points like sliding doors, garage entries and basement doors. In addition to checking door frames, homeowners should examine strike plates, hinge security and whether existing locks are outdated. Add Eyes to Your Front Door with a Doorbell Camera Doorbell cameras are an affordable way to boost your home's security. Visible cameras can stop many would-be thieves as they don't want to be seen or recorded. Beyond deterrence, doorbell cameras let you see who's at your door, receive alerts and check on your home anytime, whether you're home or away. Install Smart Locks for Control and Peace of Mind Smart locks are another smart investment in home safety. They allow you to track who enters your home and when by assigning unique access codes. You can even lock (or unlock) the door remotely from your phone. With the ability to monitor, control and limit access, smart locks offer convenience and security. A local locksmith can help you choose the right option and handle installation, making the upgrade simple and stress-free. Connecting customers with professional locksmiths in their area, KeyMe Locksmiths provides comprehensive home security and lockout services - from key replacement to lock installation or repair - with more than 7,500 kiosks nationwide. These self-service machines utilize advanced technology for fast, accurate and "one-stop-shop" key copying, including home and office keys, car keys and fobs, mailboxes, padlocks and RFID access cards. The War Continues By City Of Hallandale Beach Mayor, Joy Cooper Oct 8, 2025 This Past Tuesday October 7th Marked The 730th Day Since The Horrific Attack On The Nova Musical Festival And Israel. It Is Unimaginable 48 Hostages 26 Confirmed Dead, 20 Are Presumed Alive And Remain In The Hands Of Palestinians. 251 hostages were taken. Of those innocent victims, 148 were released through negotiations of whom 8 were dead. IDF forces recovered 51 dead hostages and rescued 8 during the war. This war was started by Gazans fueled by hate and Hamas terrorists. It was unprovoked and still continues. It is unimaginable that war could end with their release but the refusal to release the hostages has continued loss of lives. Since the terrorist organization Hamas launched its unprovoked attacks on Israeli 1,200 innocent Israelis died, 5,431 have been injured. 913 IDF soldiers have lost their lives and over 20,000 have been injured. Through the war to rescue the hostages by the Israeli armed forces against Hamas in Gaza. 61,158 Palestinians were killed, and 151,442 were injured. This does not include the second front on the West Bank fueled by both Hamas and Hezbollah. As noted, the Gaza numbers are UN Aid numbers which should be questioned. What many people are forgetting, and the news is not covering Israel has been attacked for years. Hammas, Hezbollah and other terrorists have attacked Israel with over 2,000 bombs and attacks. In all, over 3,800 thousand have died. One cannot avoid the point that this is a War and Israel has the right to protect themselves and fight for the hostages and peace. Just like any other country. I am so frustrated over the one-sided media that continues to fuel misinformation, ignorance, and antisemitism. No one person wants war and death, but it is the reality when one country attacks another. I have spoken to others about what is a one-sided hostage exchange. The goal was 500 so-called political prisoners. I considered this such a lie. They are criminals. They have killed, murdered, injured, manned and plotted against Israel for years. Imagine the United States returning the 1993 World Trade Center bomber who is serving a life sentence. Barghouti, 68, from the West Bank village of Kobar, has spent over 45 years in Israeli prison and was serving a life sentence. First arrested in 1978 for his role in an attack that killed an Israeli bus driver. Ghanem, 31, from east Jerusalem, was serving three life sentences and 60 years for a bus attack in 2015 that killed three Israelis. One of those killed was Richard Lakin, an American educator who marched for civil rights and coexistence between Muslims and Jews. Al-Ziben, 50, is from Nablus, in the West Bank. He was sentenced to 27 life terms for planning a bombing in a Jerusalem market in 1997 that killed 16 people, including a U.S. citizen. Abu Shakhdam was sentenced to the equivalent of 18 life sentences over his involvement in Hamas attacks that killed dozens of Israelis during the second intifada. They included a suicide bombing that blew up two buses in Beersheba in 2004, killing 16 Israelis, including a 4-year-old. These are just a few. We need to commend Israel for working with the U.S. Envoy, Steve Witkoff and allies in the Middle East to get hostages out through political prisoner trades. As a parent, yes, I would do absolutely everything to get my child out. Negotiating with Hamas one could say has been one sided. It has also torn many Israelis apart. Two years of pain, suffering, war, and family members fighting in combat have taken its toll. We all need it to end. We need to bring all the hostage’s home. Israel needs to continue what I call the World’s work fighting against terrorists and terrorism. The rhetoric and blatant attacks on Israel and their leaders over their rights to defend its people which include Jews, Christians and Muslims are a disgrace. The Americans fueling the hate and lies need to remember 911 and the terrorist attack on our soil. Many also need to do their homework before believing every headline. BRING THEM HOME!!
