His comedic credentials include skillfully guiding stand-up comics and storytellers through humorous explorations of life's lowlights on “The HoneyDew.” Sickler secured the number one spot on the Billboard and iTunes comedy charts with his album “Get a Hold of Yourself.” In 2023, he starred in, directed and produced the standup special “Lefty's Son.” This event contains adult language or content. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Emery Entertainment present Christmas with C.S. Lewis starring David Payne in the Amaturo Theater on Saturday, December 7th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The year is 1962, and C.S. Lewis, the famous British author who gave the world “The Chronicles of Narnia” and a Christian legacy that few can match, is hosting a group of American writers at his home just outside of Oxford during the twilight years of his life. They have come to hear him speak about significant events and people that shaped his life. As it is Christmas time, Lewis also reflects on how he views this festive season in a display of oratory and humor that made Lewis one of England's most famous public speakers. One of the world’s most spectacular Queen tribute bands comes to the Au-Rene Theater with One Vision of Queen featuring Marc Martel, part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series on Sunday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m. “We Will Rock You,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “We are the Champions” and the legendary “Bohemian Rhapsody” are songs that just scratch the surface of Queen’s legacy. The one and only Freddie Mercury’s unique vocals have made it nearly impossible to perform his music as he did. Finally, Marc Martel and One Vision of Queen perform Mercury’s music the way it is meant to be performed. Legendary Queen drummer Roger Taylor remarked to the Daily Record, “That voice. You listen, close your eyes and you think it’s Freddie. It’s really uncanny.” Martel performs vocals on the Oscar®-Winning Queen biopic film, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” With unique theatrical performance style and eye-popping production, One Vision of Queen gives audiences a front row seat to one of the greatest bands of all time. Generously underwritten by Richard Herter & Dennis Baney and by Rachel & Ron Antevy. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Live Nation present the Whiskey Myers Acoustic Tour 2024 with special guests Cody Canada and Wade Bowen on Tuesday, December 10th at 8:00 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater. Described by USA Today as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” genre-bending band Whiskey Myers has played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and Ryman Auditorium and performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece opened for The Rolling Stones’ 2019 Chicago stadium show. Their self-produced album “Tornillo,” available via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, features the number 17 most-played Americana song of 2022 “John Wayne,” and follows their fifth studio album, “Whiskey Myers,” which debuted at number one on the country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at number two on the rock chart and number six on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. Whiskey Myers has sold more than 1.65 million albums and amassed more than 2.25 billion streams while earning six RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band, praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal,” has also earned sync success with features and an on-screen appearance in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as the Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team.” As Rolling Stone noted of Whiskey Myers, “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy Rock & Roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.” The Broward Center for the Performing Arts, AEG Presents and Emporium Presents bring The Fab Four: U.S.A. Meets the Beatles to the Au-Rene Theater as part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series on Friday, December 13th at 7:30 p.m. Acknowledged as the ultimate tribute to The Beatles, The Fab Four delivers uncanny, note-for-note live renditions of Beatles classics such as "Can't Buy Me Love," "Yesterday," "A Day In The Life," "Twist And Shout," "Here Comes The Sun," and "Hey Jude." Their stage performance combined with three costume changes representing every era of The Beatles has amazed audiences in countries around the world including in Japan, Australia, France, Hong Kong, the UK, Germany, Mexico and Brazil. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Performance Project present “Narnia,” a musical adaptation of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” as part of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Imagination Series on Friday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 15th at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The first and most famous novel of acclaimed British author C.S. Lewis’s “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, the musical follows four English schoolchildren, brothers and sisters, sent away from London during World War II to stay in the manor house of their uncle. They stumble upon the magical kingdom of Narnia held in the power of the White Witch, whose evil spell has frozen the land so that it is “always winter – and never Christmas.” In this spellbound landscape, filled with creatures of myth and fable, the children learn deep lessons of courage, unselfishness and wisdom that help them grow in spirit and prepare them for life in our world. Featuring the Performance Project students and the professional actors who mentor them, the musical soars from the excitement of the opening number, "Doors and Windows," to the poetry of "Narnia (You Can't Imagine)" to the stirring "To Make the World Right Again." Also at the Broward Center in December: Men Who Dance from November 30th – December 1st, Florida Grand Opera: The Magic Flute on December 5th, Symphony of the Americas: Holiday POPS! on December 8th & December 10th and Gold Coast Jazz: Bobby Watson Quartet, Post Motown Bop on December 11th. • Family Matters: Why Genetic Cancer Testing Is Important | sun-times

Family Matters: Why Genetic Cancer Testing Is Important By BPT Oct 15, 2025 When Someone In Your Family Is Diagnosed With Cancer, It Can Raise Questions. Is It A Coincidence, Or Is There Something That Runs In The Family That Makes Others More Likely To Get It Too? For Jodi, Whose Mother Was Diagnosed With Cancer At The Age Of 51, And Whose Maternal Grandfather Was Diagnosed With The Same Disease At 55, Those Questions Were Top Of Mind From A Young Age. Her Family History Instilled A Fear Of The Unknown - Was She At Elevated Risk Too? For women like Jodi who have a family history of Cancer, the possibility of what genetic testing might reveal can be scary, yet having answers can be empowering. "You know, I had always been very afraid of Cancer because of my family history," Jodi shared. "And not just Breast Cancer. I've also wondered if I'm predisposed to developing other types, too." According to the latest Cancer Risk Survey by Myriad Genetics, 80% of women report being afraid to get screened for Cancer, primarily due to fear of the results. That said, 75% say they would actually find screenings like genetic testing reassuring if they were facing a potential health concern. Getting tested: Jodi's decision When Jodi's healthcare provider, Linda New, PA-C, learned about Jodi's extensive family Cancer history, which includes types of Cancer that raise red flags, she was surprised Jodi had not been offered hereditary Cancer testing before. She immediately let her know that she meets guideline criteria for genetic testing. Linda recommended the MyRisk® Hereditary Cancer Test with RiskScore® to determine if she had an inherited genetic mutation that increased her risk for hereditary cancers. Though Jodi was nervous about the results, she knew that if she carried an inherited gene mutation, the test would help ease her fear of the unknown, and her results would likely give her the power to act early. She moved forward, for herself and for her daughter. "It was a hard decision, but I did it knowing I've always been afraid of Cancer," said Jodi. "I decided to get tested with my daughter Kaila in mind because she could have the same genetic mutation." A simple test that gives you options The MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test with RiskScore evaluates a patient's risk of developing 11 different types of hereditary Cancer and provides a 5-year and remaining lifetime personalized risk for Breast Cancer. The testing process is straightforward - a quick blood draw at the clinician's office. If Jodi was found to be at high risk, she and her healthcare provider would have multiple options available, including changes in medical management, earlier screenings or increased screening frequency. For Jodi, the most difficult part of the process was the waiting, but in just a few weeks, the results confirmed what she suspected. She tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation that could increase her risk of developing Breast, Ovarian and other Cancers. Instead of letting this piece of information weigh her down, Jodi saw a path forward. Linda guided Jodi through a plan for early detection and prevention, which included breast MRIs, pelvic ultrasounds and a referral to a breast specialist - steps that ultimately led her to remove her ovaries and undergo a double mastectomy. These were big decisions, but they gave her a sense of control and the confidence that she was doing everything she could for her health and her future. Inspiring others, saving lives Jodi also encouraged her daughter Kaila to take the MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test with RiskScore. Knowing she had a 50/50 chance of sharing her mother's gene mutation, and with Jodi's encouragement, Kaila decided to get tested, too. The result: She was also positive for the BRCA2 mutation. Given her risk, Kaila immediately discussed risk-reducing measures with her healthcare provider, which included breast and uterine ultrasounds and potential ovary and breast removal down the line. "I'm 33 and haven't had kids yet," said Kaila. "I want to, and I want to be able to breastfeed. So, I'm trying to keep everything intact until that happens. But once I've had children, I'll be considering other preventative options." Know your risk and plan for the future. Knowing your family history (both maternal and paternal) as part of a comprehensive Cancer risk assessment can provide you and your provider with clear information to make informed decisions about managing Cancer risk. If you're on the fence about getting tested for BRCA1, BRCA2 or other hereditary Cancer mutations, consider if you have the following risk factors: • A family history of Cancer that is diagnosed at a young age (50 or younger), like Breast Cancer diagnosed at age 45 • Multiples of the same type of Cancers on the same side of the family, like three Colorectal Cancers on the paternal side • Rare Cancers like Ovarian or Pancreatic Cancer Jodi hopes her story will empower those who may be hesitant to get additional screenings if they qualify. "I would say just get tested. If you have a family history of Cancer and the slightest doubt that you could carry a gene mutation associated with Cancer, get this simple blood test. It's better to know whatever decision you make, you will have the tools and information you need to make it with confidence." Talk with your health care provider to see if you meet guidelines for a hereditary Cancer risk assessment, like the MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test with RiskScore. Understanding your results can empower you and your care team to create a personalized plan to manage your risk and take proactive steps for your health. To learn more, visit: www.GetMyRisk.com . • A Theatrical Extravaganza: Magic & Mayhem Live Will Leave You Spellbound and Gasping for Breath

A Theatrical Extravaganza: Magic & Mayhem Live Will Leave You Spellbound and Gasping for Breath November 10, 2023 Share Is it conceivable that laughter could be fatal? If it were, then Darren "Dizzy" Partridge might just be the most perilous man alive. Growing up in Coventry, England, Dizzy never imagined he would one day perform in cirque shows worldwide, making a living with magic. From the illustrious Apollo Theatre in London's West End to the iconic Sydney Opera House, Dizzy has been enthralling audiences globally for over a decade. A masterful comedy magician and versatile cirque performer, his acts regularly feature as headliners on prestigious luxury liners like Celebrity and Norwegian cruise lines. He gained recognition as The Trickster in The Illusionists, the largest touring magic show globally. Dizzy's exuberant blend of magic, physical comedy, and mischievous British charm mesmerizes his audiences, leaving them both spellbound and gasping for breath. With three unique shows to choose from, he guarantees an unforgettable and unbelievable experience. Reflecting on his journey, Dizzy shared, "I'm often asked if I always aspired to be a magician. Truthfully, the short answer is no. However, I always pursued my passions. I initially dabbled in martial arts, reveling in the physicality and athleticism it demanded. My favorite moves involved spinning, kicking, and jumping, which gradually transformed into a passion for breakdancing. I taught myself various power moves and, despite lacking rhythm, I relished performing acrobatic tricks. Surprisingly, those tricks led me to portray Sir Francis Drake in a stunt show in Majorca, Spain." During this phase, Dizzy spent seasons executing backflips, high falls, and engaging in sword fights with fellow swashbucklers. Following an altercation with Blackbeard (a story in itself), his tenure as a professional pirate concluded. However, fate led him to a cirque audition in London, where he astounded casting directors with his acquired skills. While others deliberated on their music preferences, he impulsively ran up a wall, executed a backflip, and instantly captured everyone's attention. As it turned out, in certain professions, bouncing off walls proved advantageous. He was hired and relocated to Myrtle Beach to perform for Le Grand Cirque, where he encountered various performers, including influential magicians who eventually became his mentors, cementing his path in the industry. One of those influential figures was Janna Roukhmanova, a globally acclaimed cirque performer from Moscow, Russia. She also happens to be his wife. Together, they are dedicated to delivering top-tier entertainment to as many people as possible. The Aventura Show "Magic & Mayhem Live" is a spectacle of magic and laughter, ensuring audiences are both mesmerized and roaring with delight. This unparalleled show combines mind-bending illusions with death-defying acrobatics, offering a rollercoaster of emotions that keep spectators on the edge of their seats. Darren "Dizzy" Partridge, with his mischievous British charm, serves as the heart and soul of the production. His seamless fusion of magic and physical comedy has earned him a reputation as one of the most entertaining magicians in the business. Witnessing Dizzy in action is like experiencing a whirlwind of laughter and astonishment. He possesses the uncanny ability to make the impossible seem possible and the possible hilariously absurd. "Magic & Mayhem Live" transcends a mere magic show; it's a theatrical journey through the realms of fantasy and wonder. Among its highlights is the mischievous duo of Dizzy and Janna Roukhmanova, whose on-stage chemistry is electric. Janna's background in cirque performance adds an extra dimension to the magic acts, gracefully captivating the audience with her aerial acrobatics. As the lights dim and the curtain rises, the audience is transported into a world of magic, mayhem, and mystery. The grand stage comes alive with dazzling lights, intricate sets, and pulse-pounding music, setting the tone for the forthcoming jaw-dropping performances. However, what sets this show apart isn't just the individual acts, but the seamless integration of each act into a cohesive and immersive experience. Smooth transitions between performances maintain the excitement, ensuring there's never a dull moment. One of the most thrilling segments invites audience participation in mind-reading acts and daring escapology tricks. Reactions range from nervous laughter to stunned silence as spectators witness the seemingly impossible happening before their eyes. "Magic & Mayhem Live" caters not only to magic enthusiasts but to anyone who appreciates the art of entertainment. It's a show suitable for audiences of all ages, making it an ideal outing for families, friends, or a captivating date night. For an evening of wonder, laughter, and indelible memories, seize the chance to witness "Magic & Mayhem Live." It's not just a magic show; it's a celebration of human spirit, the joy of imagination, and the thrill of being alive.
