Prominent Urogynecologist Peter Rosenblatt, MD Joins Holy Cross Medical Group South Florida Sun Times Jul 23, 2026 South Florida Urogynecologist Peter Rosenblatt, M.D. Has Joined Holy Cross Medical Group, A Multi-Specialty Physician-Employed Group Of More Than 180 Physicians Providing Services Throughout Broward County. He Brings 35 Years Of Subspecialty Experience In Treating Pelvic Floor Prolapse, Overactive Bladder And Incontinence Issues, Common Conditions That Are Often A Source Of Embarrassment And Cause Women To Suffer In Silence. Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the muscles and tissues that support the uterus, bladder and rectum weaken or loosen, and gravity causes the organs to drop. Women are frequently diagnosed as a result of vaginal childbirth; long-term pressure on the abdomen due to Obesity, chronic coughing or strenuous bowel movements; aging; and family history. Research has also indicated that the condition is especially prevalent among athletes. Although women of any age can experience pelvic organ prolapse, it is more common during peri or post-menopause than in younger women. “My goal is to make our patients feel comfortable sharing their concerns and become part of the decision-making process since there are often many different solutions to pelvic floor disorders,” Dr. Rosenblatt assured. “I am excited to work in the same community in which I now live and provide high-quality care for women in the area. I can already feel the commitment of the staff to providing care for patients of all denominations and for those who are underprivileged or disadvantaged.” Dr. Rosenblatt is an expert in performing laparoscopic reconstructive surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and minimally invasive surgery for urinary and fecal incontinence. He has also developed innovative surgeries for fecal incontinence using a mesh sling and pelvic organ prolapse without the need for hysterectomy. Additional conditions he treats are overactive bladder, genitourinary fistulas and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Rosenblatt has pioneered new technology and taught fellows, residents and medical students at prestigious institutions including Brown University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. “One of the last taboo subjects that women find it difficult to discuss with their health care providers is accidental bowel leakage, also known as fecal incontinence,” he explained. “This condition affects literally millions of women and there have been limited options for treating women until relatively recently. Although many women may be effectively managed conservatively, I developed a minimally invasive surgical procedure called TOPAS that has been shown to be very effective.” Dr. Rosenblatt graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biopsychology and earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Massachusetts Medical School, as well as a fellowship in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery at Brown University School of Medicine, Women & Infants’ Hospital. He was drawn to specialize in this field during his training because he discovered pelvic floor disorders are underreported by women and underrecognized by clinicians, and he wanted to provide the solution. “There’s a large demand for urogynecology services in our community. The addition of another skilled Urogynecologist ensures that women have access to the much-needed care they deserve. Dr. Rosenblatt’s surgical training and outcomes are outstanding. He conveys confidence yet is humble. His approach is calming and reassuring,” said Kimberley Graham, Service Line Director at Holy Cross Medical Group. “Urogynecologists combine the expertise of a urologist and gynecologist. The volume of women in our demographic area that need his services and expertise will organically grow and elevate the image and quality of our Women’s Service Line.” Dr. Rosenblatt previously worked at Mount Auburn Hospital, Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center, Newton-Wellesley Hospital and New England Medical Center in Massachusetts, as well as Catholic Medical Center in New Hampshire. An innovator and industry leader, Dr. Rosenblatt has written research papers and is a sought-after speaker regionally, nationally and internationally. He has served on the Board of Directors for both the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) and the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS) and was President of SGS from 2019 to 2020. Patients may visit Dr. Rosenblatt at the Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery office within the Holy Cross Medical Group – Women’s Center, located at 1000 Northeast 56th Street, Fort Lauderdale 33334. He will also be seeing patients at the new Holy Cross Health Center, located at 340 South Federal Highway, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33441. - Encouraging Creativity In The Age Of AI | sun-times
Encouraging Creativity In The Age Of AI By Feature Impact Jul 23, 2026 In An Era When Machines Can Generate Ideas In Seconds, Hands-On Learning And Creativity May Be More Important For Today's Children Than Ever. In Fact, Due To The Rise Of Artificial Intelligence (AI), 73% Of Parents Believe Creativity Is An Essential Trait For Their Children To Develop. This finding comes from a survey commissioned by Crayola and conducted by Talker Research of 2,000 U.S. parents of children ages 8-12, along with children in that same age range. The survey also revealed the impact of technological advances, such as AI, on how parents nurture their kids' creativity and how kids and parents view AI differently. While parents worry about what skills kids may lose due to AI usage, children themselves are more focused on what technology could unlock and seem to be far more optimistic about the impact of AI. According to the study, 35% of parents said they worry AI will reduce their child's ability to think creatively and 30% fear it will compete with them, limiting their opportunities in the workforce. In contrast, only 22% of kids share their parents' concerns about AI hurting their creative thinking abilities and only 21% fear job competition. Consider these additional trends identified in the survey. Kids Crave Hands-On Creativity Despite growing up in a digital-first world, the children surveyed expressed a strong desire to engage in hands-on creative experiences. When they make something by hand, they're more likely to preserve it (46%), display it at home (68%) or give it as a gift (48%), turning creativity into something tangible, lasting and meaningful. The children surveyed also said they want adults to ask for their creative ideas and listen to them (52%), provide supplies for creating (51%), encourage problem-solving (47%) and give them more time to create (46%). Feedback Provides Motivation Creativity flourishes when adults praise young artists for their effort, ideas and decision-making rather than judging how "good" the art looks, the survey found. While the least creatively motivating feedback parents can provide is to tell kids their art looks good (22%), creating with parents or other family members (65%), having their art displayed (45%) and being recognized for the work involved (46%) were some of the most motivating actions. "When we emphasize effort, process and thinking over outcomes, kids feel safer taking creative risks," said Cheri Sterman, Senior Director of Education at Crayola. "Research - and kids themselves - are pointing us toward a more supportive way to nurture creativity in the age of AI." Purposeful support from parents and teachers also helps to minimize speed bumps that may interfere with kids' creative growth. This belief is deeply personal with 8 in 10 parents polled admitting they wish the adults in their lives had done more to nurture their creativity when they were children. Creativity is Essential to Future Success In a world increasingly shaped by AI, parents recognize creativity as one of the few skills machines can't easily replicate with the majority of respondents (85%) agreeing that creativity equates to success for children in the future. In fact, creative individuals were viewed as stronger problem-solvers (49%), better communicators (35%) and more likely to succeed in their careers (34%) than non-creatives. "As AI continues to insert itself into our lives, this study suggests that creativity won't disappear, but warns that nurturing it must be intentional," Sterman said. "For parents and educators, the challenge isn't resisting technology, but ensuring imagination, experimentation and original thinking remain central to how children grow up alongside it." Everyday Moments of Creativity Adults can nurture creativity by weaving simple, creative moments into daily routines. That belief is at the heart of efforts like Crayola's Create More Creative Moments initiative, which has sparked conversations about why creativity matters and how it shapes children's future success. Consider these kid-tested creative experiences to boost imagination and creative confidence: • Sketch during an outdoor walk. • Draw a new book cover. • Make up a new ending to a story. • Write new song lyrics. • Plan meal theme nights and experiment with new recipes as a family. • Turn errands into small games. • Ask "what if...?" to help children imagine. - Solving Broward’s Trash Crisis - Solid Waste Authority Approves 40-Year Master Plan To Solve The Crisis In Broward County | sun-times
Solving Broward’s Trash Crisis - Solid Waste Authority Approves 40-Year Master Plan To Solve The Crisis In Broward County South Florida Sun Times May 14, 2026 On April 17, 2026, The Governing Board Of The Solid Waste Authority Of Broward County (SWA) Approved A 40-Year Solid Waste Management And Recycling Master Plan (Master Plan). The Approval Set In Motion A 120-Day Window For The SWA’s 28 Member Municipalities And Broward County To Vote “Yes” To Put The Master Plan Into Action. “This is a once-in-a-generation chance to solve Broward’s trash crisis,” said Mike Ryan, Chair of the SWA’s Executive Committee and Governing Board and Mayor of the City of Sunrise. “One city can’t solve this alone. Together, we can secure the lowest and best price to responsibly recycle and dispose of our trash and stop relying so heavily on landfilling and burning.” The stakes are high. In Broward County more than five million tons of trash is generated each year, about 20,000 pounds every minute, and the landfill and waste-to-energy facility are almost maxed out. Countywide, the recycling rate is low (38%) well below other counties and the state’s 75% goal. As the population increases, so will the amount of trash, and the current fragmented system will cost residents and businesses more in the future. The Master Plan charts a course to negotiate better pricing by combining trash tonnage, expanding and increasing recycling, recovering valuable items from the waste stream that could be reused locally and beneficially, and significantly decreasing dependence on landfilling and waste-to-energy through waste reduction, diversion, and reuse. The Master Plan also supports continuous public education and outreach to engage residents, businesses, and visitors to produce better economical outcomes. The SWA’s coordinated approach makes financial sense. By working together, municipalities will gain stronger bargaining power, “most favored nation” pricing, and long-term cost stability. “This is our chance to control our economic destiny,” said Ryan. “By sticking together, we can keep the cost to responsibly manage our trash as low as possible for our residents and businesses. We cannot afford to let this opportunity fail.” Following the Governing Board’s approval, attention now shifts to commission chambers across Broward. Enough of the 28 member municipalities and the County must vote “yes” prior to August 14th, 2026, to move the Master Plan forward. On April 23rd, 2026, the City of Coconut Creek, the Village of Sea Ranch Lakes, and the Town of Southwest Ranches were the first three SWA members to hold a vote and all three commissions voted unanimously to move the Master Plan forward. As members of the SWA, cities will still control their own waste and recycling collection services and each have a seat on the SWA’s Governing Board. “If this gets approved, the SWA remains active, we implement the Master Plan, and we abandon the failed fragmented system we have now,” explained Ryan. Residents can view the schedule to see when their City Commission will consider the item at: https://browardswa.org/master-plan-voting-schedule/ . Everyone can do something now to get involved and show their support. Sign the pledge to reduce waste and recycle right at: www.browardrecycles.org . About the Solid Waste Authority of Broward County The Solid Waste Authority of Broward County is a partnership between Broward County and 28 member cities working toward a sustainable, long-term waste management strategy. Committed to innovation and environmental stewardship, the SWA focuses on reducing waste, increasing recycling, and implementing smart solutions for a cleaner future. - Death By A Thousand Cuts: The Many Ways Our Rights Have Been Usurped Since 9/11
Death By A Thousand Cuts: The Many Ways Our Rights Have Been Usurped Since 9/11 By John & Nisha Whitehead September 21, 2023 Share Those who gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights believed that the government exists at the behest of its citizens. It is there to protect, defend and even enhance our freedoms, not violate them. Unfortunately, although the Bill of Rights was adopted as a means of protecting the people against government tyranny, in America today, the government does whatever it wants, freedom be damned. In the 22 years since the USA Patriot Act—a massive 342-page wishlist of expanded powers for the FBI and CIA—was rammed through Congress in the wake of the so-called 9/11 terror attacks, it has snowballed into the eradication of every vital safeguard against government overreach, corruption and abuse. The Patriot Act drove a stake through the heart of the Bill of Rights, violating at least six of the ten original amendments—the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Amendments—and possibly the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments, as well. In fact, since 9/11, we’ve been spied on by surveillance cameras, eavesdropped on by government agents, had our belongings searched, our phones tapped, our mail opened, our email monitored, our opinions questioned, our purchases scrutinized (under the USA Patriot Act, banks are required to analyze your transactions for any patterns that raise suspicion and to see if you are connected to any objectionable people), and our activities watched. The boogeyman's names and faces have changed over time (terrorism, the war on drugs, illegal immigration, a viral pandemic, and more to come), but the end result remains the same: in the so-called name of national security, the Constitution has been steadily chipped away at, undermined, eroded, whittled down, and generally discarded with the support of Congress, the White House, and the courts. Here is what it means to live under the Constitution, with the nation still suffering blowback from the permanent state of emergency brought about by 9/11 and COVID-19. The First Amendment is supposed to protect the freedom to speak your mind, assemble and protest nonviolently without being bridled by the government. It also protects the freedom of the media, as well as the right to worship and pray without interference. In other words, Americans should not be silenced by the government. To the founders, all of America was a free speech zone. Despite the clear protections found in the First Amendment, the freedoms described therein are under constant assault. The Second Amendment was intended to give the citizenry the means to resist tyrannical government. Yet while gun ownership has been recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court as an individual citizen right, Americans remain powerless to defend themselves against red flag gun laws, militarized police, SWAT team raids, and government agencies armed to the teeth with military weapons better suited to the battlefield. The Third Amendment reinforces the principle that civilian-elected officials are superior to the military by prohibiting the military from entering any citizen’s home without “the consent of the owner.” With the police increasingly training like the military, acting like the military, and posing as military forces—complete with heavily armed SWAT teams, military weapons, assault vehicles, etc.—it is clear that we now have what the founders feared most—a standing army on American soil. The Fourth Amendment ensures privacy and bodily integrity. Unfortunately, the Fourth Amendment has suffered the greatest damage in recent years and has been all but eviscerated by an unwarranted expansion of governmental police powers that include strip searches and even anal and vaginal searches of citizens, surveillance (corporate and otherwise), and intrusions justified in the name of fighting terrorism, as well as the outsourcing of otherwise illegal activities to private contractors. The Fifth Amendment and the Sixth Amendment work in tandem. These amendments supposedly ensure that you are innocent until proven guilty, and government authorities cannot deprive you of your life, your liberty or your property without the right to an attorney and a fair trial before a civilian judge. However, in the new suspect society in which we live, where surveillance is the norm, these fundamental principles have been upended. The Seventh Amendment guarantees citizens the right to a jury trial. Yet when the populace has no idea of what’s in the Constitution, that inevitably translates to an ignorant jury. However, the power of the jury to nullify the government’s actions—and thereby help balance the scales of justice—is not to be underestimated. The Eighth Amendment is supposed to protect the rights of the accused and forbid the use of cruel and unusual punishment. However, the Supreme Court’s determination that what constitutes “cruel and unusual” should be dependent on the “evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society” leaves us with little protection in the face of a society lacking in morals altogether. The Ninth Amendment provides that other rights not enumerated in the Constitution are nonetheless retained by the people. However, it has since been turned on its head by a centralized federal government that sees itself as supreme. As for the Tenth Amendment’s reminder that the people and the states retain every authority that is not otherwise mentioned in the Constitution, that assurance of a system of government in which power is divided among local, state and national entities has long since been rendered moot by the centralized Washington, DC, power elite—the president, Congress and the courts. Thus, if there is any sense to be made from this recitation of freedoms lost, it is simply this: our individual freedoms have been eviscerated so that the government’s powers could be expanded. It was no idle happenstance that the Constitution, which was adopted 236 years ago on September 17th, 1787, opens with these three powerful words: “We the people.” It’s our job to make the government play by the rules of the Constitution. Still, it’s hard to be a good citizen if you don’t know anything about your rights or how the government is supposed to operate. Here’s an idea to get educated and take a stand for freedom: anyone who signs up to become a member of The Rutherford Institute gets a wallet-sized Bill of Rights card and a Know Your Rights card. As I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, “we the people” have the power to make and break the government. Imagine what we could accomplish if we actually worked together, presented a united front, and spoke with one voice. Tyranny wouldn’t stand a chance. - Life Insurance Is On The To-Do List. Right Under Cleaning Out The Garage. | sun-times
Life Insurance Is On The To-Do List. Right Under Cleaning Out The Garage. By Sheeka Sanahori Sep 24, 2026 Being An Adult Comes With A Never-Ending List Of Responsibilities: Cook Dinner. Scrub The Bathroom. File Taxes. The Tasks Grow Even Longer When Sharing A Household With A Partner, Building A Family, Or Taking Care Of Others. No Matter How You Define "Adulting," Getting Life Insurance Tends To Be One Part Of The To-Do List That Keeps Getting Set On A Procrastination Loop. New survey data backs that up: there are plenty of other tasks adults would rather focus on first. The Adulting Task Americans Keep Avoiding According to the 2026 Life Happens Life Insurance Survey, a financial literacy NonProfit Organization, 39% of U.S. adults would rather clean out their email inbox than figure out their Life Insurance needs. Another 31% would rather clean out the garage or basement. One in five U.S. adults would be willing to sit on hold with customer service for three hours before Life Insurance planning. Even though many adults have it somewhere on their list, nearly half (46%) say they'll either deal with it later or not at all. They Know It Matters Nearly a third of adults have already figured out a life insurance plan, and they feel good about their decision. Others are feeling more conflicted: 14% have a policy, but they're not sure if they have enough. Another 12% say they either don't know where to start or they think it'll be too expensive. It's no wonder people are putting it off: Navigating a new-to-them form of financial planning can come with a lot of complicated emotions. Four in 10 feel either overwhelmed, anxious, or some combination of both. Sixteen percent of U.S. adults feel guilty for putting it off, but when the outcome is more procrastination, that feeling lingers. Why Later Keeps Winning If you've ever faced an important decision without having enough information to make an informed choice, you know how stressful it can be. While the generations have different takes on making major decisions with a gut feeling or "pure vibes," most of the time, people want to feel like they're making an informed choice. Forty-five percent of U.S. adults say cost concerns, confusion or procrastination are the main reasons they have delayed or would delay looking into Life Insurance. For more than one in five, the plan is to seriously look at it when they feel more financially stable. For 12%, they say they'll do it when they're older. Men tend to feel more confident about their Life Insurance decisions to date; 53% of men vs. 41% of women feel confident their family would be financially protected. The First Step Feels Bigger Than It Is Learning more about Life Insurance, how it's priced and how it works could help get many consumers out of their procrastination loop. A quarter of people say they'd make a decision if they learned it was easier to get than they previously thought. Thirty percent would make the purchase if they learned it was more affordable than they believed it to be. Others need an experienced professional to talk to or an online calculator tool to give them guidance. Methodology: Life Happens commissioned Atomik Research to conduct an online survey of 2,000 adults, including 700 Gen Z respondents, 700 millennials, and 600 Gen X respondents throughout the United States. The margin of error for the overall sample is +/- 2 percentage points and +/- 4 percentage points for each generational sample, with a confidence level of 95 percent. Fieldwork took place between July 14 and July 20, 2026. Atomik Research, part of 4media group, is a creative market research agency.
