The Bunker State: The Government Will Survive, But Will The Constitution? By John & Nisha Whitehead Sep 3, 2026 What Began Publicly As Donald Trump’s Lavish, Taxpayer-Funded Vision Of A Gilded White House Ballroom Is Now Being Justified By The Administration—In And Out Of Court—As A Matter Of National Security. To President Trump, it seems, a ballroom by any other name is a bunker. And what a bunker it is. Court documents indicate the massive subterranean military complex being constructed five stories beneath the White House grounds will include bomb shelters, a hospital, “top secret military structures and equipment, military-grade venting, a single integrated air conditioning and heating system, sniper nests and a drone port on top.” Stephen Miller, Trump’s White House Deputy Chief of Staff, has explicitly invoked “continuity-of-government interests“ in defending the ballroom/bunker project, arguing that the reinforced underground military installation is necessary to ensure uninterrupted presidential command during an attack or global crisis. It is telling that they are building it at breakneck speed. The message seems clear: get far enough along, fast enough, and it becomes that much harder for Congress, the courts or some future administration to undo what has already been built. There is a lesson in that, and it speaks to much more than a ballroom or a bunker. That is how the architecture of authoritarian government becomes permanent: Build the surveillance system. Build the detention centers. Expand the raids. Normalize executive rule by decree. Weaken the courts. Sideline Congress. Militarize the machinery of enforcement. Then hand it all to the next administration. The faces change. The powers remain. So much of what Trump is using today was inherited from presidents before him. So much of what he is building now will remain available to presidents after him. That is the deeper problem with the Bunker State. It is not merely about where government officials go when disaster strikes. It is about the mindset of a government that increasingly treats preservation of its own power as the highest form of national security. That is the bunker mentality in practice. And Continuity of Government gives it a blueprint to follow. Continuity of Government planning, or COG, was devised during the Cold War to ensure that the federal government could survive a Soviet nuclear attack. If Washington were destroyed, surviving officials would disperse to secure locations, maintain command and eventually reconstitute constitutional government. The goal, at least in theory, was survival long enough to restore constitutional order. But 9/11 changed the equation. Nearly twenty-five years later, we are still living with the consequences. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, did more than kill nearly 3,000 people. They gave Washington the crisis it needed to dramatically expand emergency powers, surveillance and the national-security state. COG was part of that transformation. The government has spent billions making certain that it can survive almost anything. But survival of the government is not the same as preservation of the republic. Presidents, agencies, military commands, intelligence operations and critical records can all be relocated so that the machinery of government can keep functioning underground. But what about the Constitution? That is the question all of this elaborate government survival planning never answers satisfactorily. Who guarantees that Congress remains meaningful, the courts independent, elections intact, emergency powers temporary and the rights of the people protected? Those questions matter because COG is no longer merely about bunkers. It is part of a much larger emergency state—a government that has learned to govern through crisis, fear and claims of necessity. The emergencies change. The response does not: government claims extraordinary powers, and the extraordinary gradually becomes ordinary. This is the real danger of a government accustomed to governing by emergency: the trigger does not have to be Armageddon. It can be terrorism, a cyberattack, a pandemic, civil disorder or some broadly defined threat to national security. It merely has to be a crisis serious enough for those in power to declare that ordinary rules can no longer apply. The most dangerous words in government are often some variation of: this is an emergency. That is when temporary measures become precedents, precedents become policies, and policies become permanent powers. Trump did not invent the Bunker State. He inherited it—and he is expanding it while further erasing the lines between presidential power, personal power and the national interest. The government beneath Trump was built over decades, with the complicity of presidents, Congresses and courts that repeatedly allowed extraordinary powers to become permanent. And behind it all sits another government—a shadow government—that elections rarely disturb. More than a decade ago, we warned that America effectively had two shadow governments: Continuity of Government, the emergency government waiting in the wings for catastrophe, and the Deep State, the permanent government that carries on regardless of who occupies the White House. Today, it’s hard to tell them apart. Under ordinary circumstances, these systems may appear to operate separately. Under emergency conditions, they can become one. That is how the permanent state becomes the emergency state. And that is when Continuity of Government becomes Continuity of Tyranny. A government that already possesses mass surveillance, militarized police, detention powers, biometric tracking, drones and facial recognition does not need to invent the machinery of authoritarian control during an emergency. It already has it. All an emergency does is change the rules governing how freely that machinery can be used. As we make clear in Battlefield America: The War on the American People and its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, when a constitutional republic adopts a bunker mindset, government survival becomes the priority, and constitutional survival becomes an afterthought. If constitutional government cannot survive above ground, in ordinary times, when the courts are open, Congress is sitting and elections are still being held, there is little reason to believe it will somehow be resurrected underground in the wake of a national catastrophe. What deserves continuity is not merely the federal bureaucracy. What deserves continuity is the Constitution. The separation of powers. The rule of law. Representative government. Due process. Habeas corpus. The rights of the people. That is what must survive. And if we cannot preserve those things now—before the sirens sound, before the government retreats underground, before some president invokes the next great emergency—then no bunker, however deep, however secure and however lavishly equipped, will save the republic. Because the Constitution cannot survive in a bunker underground if we have already allowed it to die above ground. A New Generation Of Chiropractic Health Care In Hallandale Beach: Grand opening of merger between North Florida-based Amazing Spine Care And 50-year-old Amunategui Chiropractic Center By Joyce R. Forchion October 10, 2024 Share Hallandale Beach is setting a precedent for delivering quality intergenerational healthcare innovations that cater to the varied needs, preferences, and budgets of its patients. Recognized for its sprawling Intracoastal Waterways, multicultural neighborhood dining haunts, mixed-use Infrastructure and prime real estate, the city is cultivating its reputation for offering access to excellence in chiropractic care after announcing an unprecedented merger between two of Florida’s most formidable chiropractic offices. On Thursday, September 12th, 2024, a ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official grand opening of Amazing Spine Care’s first South Florida location, signaling the launch of its seventh Florida-based office branching out from its established offices in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Orange Park. The event also signified the rebranding of Amunategui Chiropractic Care, the family-owned mainstay in Hallandale Beach known for demonstrating best practices in the preventive medical industry for over 50 years. The Amazing Spine Care team recently moved into Amunategui Chiropractic Care’s medical office located at 1025 East Hallandale Beach Boulevard, which has served as the headquarters for Dr. Joseph Amunategui II’s popular practice for the past 30 years. This new chapter for Dr. Amunategui, inarguably one of Hallandale Beach’s most respected community pillars, offers a wealth of developmental opportunities Amazing Spine Care and Dr. Alan Khiger, the practice’s President and Founder whom is still a full time Chiropractic Physician. The chiropractic care options offered at the facility focus on minimally invasive and therapeutic methods of prevention. Amazing Spine Care’s specialization in treating personal injury cases– such as auto accidents, slip-and-falls, and sports afflictions– differentiates its scope of services from comparable chiropractic medical centers in the region. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), nearly 25,000 men, women, and children suffered injuries from automobile accidents occurring in Broward County. Considering the frequency of such emergencies, Amazing Spine Care practitioners remain on standby to treat accident victims. If needed, Individuals who have been in a car accident and are without transportation should call Amazing Spine Care to arrange a complimentary ride to the facility for on-the-spot service. Meet the Chiropractic Physicians Dr. Joseph A. Amunategui II, has been a practicing Chiropractic Physician in the City of Hallandale Beach since December 1993. His historic merger with Dr. Khiger’s company, Amazing Spine Care, reflects his desire to incorporate time-tested, traditional methods of chiropractic care with contemporary methods of delivering client results through accessible treatments, and virtual appointments. While treating thousands of loyal patients throughout the duration of his career, Dr. Amunategui leads and participates in countless charitable endeavors and community service initiatives. Due to his relentless benevolence and volunteerism over the decades, the Hallandale Beach Mayor proclaimed January 19, 2008 as “Dr. Joseph Amunategui II Day.” A graduate of Life University’s Doctor of Chiropractic degree program, his extensive catalog of scholarly healthcare articles has established Dr. Amunategui as a respected thought leader in his profession. A former President and Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club Hallandale Beach, he holds leadership positions and board memberships with the Hallandale Beach Chamber of Commerce, City of Hallandale Beach Police Athletic League (PAL), YMCA of Hallandale Beach, and the Florida Sheriffs Association. He is also a lifetime member of the International Chiropractic Association (ICA) and Founding Member of the organization’s Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science. Relishing the opportunity to extend his family’s accomplished legacy, he is a father of four and second-generation Chiropractic Physician, who has practiced in the same location as his father since 1973. After expanding to open his new Hallandale Beach practice, Dr. Alan Khiger, D.C. is pleased to open the seventh location for Amazing Spine Care in the state of Florida. A fellow graduate of Life University’s Doctor of Chiropractic Degree program in Atlanta, Georgia, he specializes in the capacity of personal injury, workers compensation, and cash practice patients for the past several years. Certified by the American College of Addictionology in Auricular Therapy for patients struggling with substance abuse disorders, Dr. Khiger’s passion also lies in treating patients representing diverse generations, such as the elderly population, children, pregnant women, new mothers, and infants. He has held professional capacities as a specialist and general practitioner for chiropractic care, with a concentration in Neuro-Musculoskeletal Disorders, for over 15 years. Not only is he considered a gifted “healer,” but also well-versed in assisting his patients in finding physical alignment and adopting healthy habits. Forecasting the Future of Amazing Spine Care The future of the business looks bright for Amazing Spine Care as Drs. Khiger and Amunategui collaborate to elevate the profile of their joint venture in a crowded chiropractic care market. Accessibility, convenience, and innovation are driving the mission as both physicians believe in meeting patients wherever they are regarding budgetary restrictions and transportation needs. “Our philosophy is centered on never giving up without trying when it comes to patient care,” Garcia said. “We’re committed to delivering results and applying our collective experience to carry out our mission– maximizing our family-oriented business to change the lives of families everywhere. Our 97% success rate is attributed to taking on high-risk conditions and procedures that pay off in benefiting our patients. What others fail to do, we successfully get done!” Now that the Hallandale Beach branch of Amazing Spine Care is open and currently welcoming new patients to its facility, Drs. Khiger and Amunategui express the value of the community partnerships that have made their merger a seamless success. They enthusiastically look forward to embarking on this new chapter together and express high hopes for 2025. “We’re here to help as many people as possible and give our patients the appropriate care they deserve,” Garcia assured. “We’re focused on creating easy access to care for people of all ages and reserve a special place in our hearts for infant care. We encourage potential clients to reach out to us for a same-day appointment, with the assurance of knowing that their requests will be immediately addressed. A nurse practitioner is also on hand to facilitate telemedicine appointments for patients who are limited to virtual capabilities.” Amazing Spine Care appeals to multi-generational clients and guarantees exemplary patient satisfaction while administering the highest quality in chiropractic service with a smile. When selecting a chiropractor in the South Florida community, Garcia recommends giving their practice careful consideration. “We want to be known as the doctor’s office that serves families first. Beyond The Sticker Price: Identifying The Most Affordable New Vehicles To Insure By Feature Impact Sep 17, 2026 For Most Households, Buying A New Vehicle Is One Of The Largest Financial Decisions They'll Make. The Purchase Price Is Only The Beginning, However. Fuel, Maintenance, Depreciation And Insurance All Contribute To The Total Cost Of Ownership, Making Affordability A Consideration That Extends Well Beyond The Showroom. To help consumers make more informed purchasing decisions, Mercury Insurance recently released its annual rankings of the most affordable new 2026 model year vehicles to insure, identifying the top-performing SUV, truck, sedan and electric or hybrid vehicles in four of today's most popular categories. "Consumers naturally compare purchase price, fuel economy, safety ratings and technology features before buying a vehicle," said Chong Gao, Director of Research and Development for Mercury Insurance. "Insurance is one of the few ownership costs drivers can estimate before making a purchase. Factoring it into the decision gives consumers a more complete picture of what that vehicle is likely to cost over the years they own it." While every driver's premium is unique, this year's rankings also revealed a broader trend: Practical, mainstream vehicles continue to offer some of the strongest long-term insurance value. "Vehicles designed for everyday drivers often strike the best balance between safety, repairability and replacement costs," Gao said. "That's reflected in this year's rankings, where familiar models from manufacturers like Hyundai, Chevrolet, Honda, Kia and Volkswagen rose to the top. • What does Archaeology say about the Jewish Claim to Israel?

What does Archaeology say about the Jewish Claim to Israel? By Marc Yahrshevsky July 19, 2024 Share Archaeology is a remarkable tool for uncovering the layers of history buried beneath our feet. For the Jewish people, the ancient city of Jerusalem holds a profound and multifaceted significance, both religiously and culturally. Through meticulous excavation and study, archaeological findings have consistently supported and illuminated the deep historical connections between the Jewish people and Jerusalem, offering tangible proof of their long-standing presence in the land given to them by none other than G-d Himself. There will be a Two-Part series of a ZOOM Archaeological Seminar about excavations in Jerusalem and the City of David and it will even include audio-visuals of the excavations! The multimedia zoom presentation will take place on Thursday, July 25th and Thursday August 8th at 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Keep in mind that this is the single most contentious issue in the Middle East conflict between Jews and Arabs. “This presentation will uncover powerful and convincing case for the Biblical story for the Jewish claim to Israel – even for those who have a hard time believing,” says Rabbi Smith, Director of the Levi Yitzchok Retiree Academy. Rabbi Avrohom Stolik, the presenter, has received wide acclaim as a biblical archaeological scholar. In the presentation, he will share his extensive knowledge of Jewish history and secular Bible study, as well as his passion for biblical archaeology. He has created a unique presentation that includes imagery, diagrams, and videos that can benefit anyone, whether he or she has been to Israel before or has any background in history or archaeology. The Retiree Academy runs numerous programs and educational programs throughout the year including Talmud, Books of the Prophets, Code of Jewish Law, Chassidic Philosophy and Mysticism, and much more. They just started offering a Conversational Yiddish Seminar as well. Visit: www.JewishRetiree.com - Or call: (954) 458-6000 for more information about their programs.
