South Florida Rabbis Join 6,500 Colleagues For Conference In New York By Moshe New/Chabad.org Jan 7, 2025 6,500 Chabad Rabbis and Jewish leaders from around the globe gathered recently in Brooklyn, New York, for the Annual International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries, the largest rabbinic gathering in the world. While the yearly conference has a celebratory feel, welcoming rabbinic leaders from Alaska to Zambia, the past year was a difficult one for the Jewish people, seeing tragedy in Israel and other parts of the world. Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries, known as shluchim, are husband-and-wife teams who dedicate their lives to strengthening Jewish life in communities worldwide, often in remote locations without established Jewish Infrastructure. They aim to reach both affiliated and unaffiliated Jews, welcoming Jews from all walks of life. From the city streets of Los Angeles to the islands of Thailand, Chabad serves not only as a spiritual home, but a focal point of Jewish life. The conference, also known as the Kinus Hashluchim, united rabbis and lay leaders from all 50 U.S. states and more than 100 countries and territories around the world for four days of workshops, networking and spiritual uplift. The conference concluded with a gala banquet. The first day included a series of workshops on contemporary issues that ran over the course of the weekend. Topics covered included: disaster relief, combating hate, education, counseling and dealing with grief and much more. Conference participants who serve students on college campuses (where Chabad has become the heart of Jewish life) took part in a separate track discussing issues specifically relevant to campus communities. A visit to the Ohel, in Queens, New York (the resting place of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory), marked the pinnacle of the conference. The emissaries came to pray for their families, communities and humanity at large, carrying with them countless prayer requests from people around the world. With the onset of Shabbat on Friday evening, the emissaries spent the Jewish day of rest in prayer. The annual “class picture” was taken Sunday morning under the iconic gables of 770 Eastern Parkway, the headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. The capstone of the conference was the gala banquet. It was held at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center in Edison, New Jersey. It was a powerful moment of remembrance and resilience. Speakers honored Rabbi Zvi Kogan, the U.A.E.-based Chabad emissary murdered by terrorists in Dubai, with emotional tributes that emphasized the importance of continuing their global mission. The conference was linked by video with the home of Kogan’s parents in Jerusalem, where his family sat shiva. All 6,500 participants gathered and shared the traditional text of comfort with the family. Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch—Chabad’s educational arm—greeted the audience, sharing words of consolation with Kogan’s family and the emissaries, his “extended family,” and sent prayers for Israeli soldiers defending the Holy Land, as well as the hostages held in Gaza. A special video tribute was made for Rabbi Moshe Kotlarksy, the energetic Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, who passed away after a lengthy illness on June 4th. Among the most inspiring presentations of the evening was that of Rabbi Yehoshua Soudakoff, Director of Chabad for the Deaf Community in Israel, who spoke of his path to finding his Jewish self as a Deaf Jew. “The voice you hear is not mine, but the words definitely are,” he said through an interpreter. “It is hard for a deaf person to find a place within the community. Torah and Mitzvah while deaf is difficult. That is why I established Chabad for the Deaf Community. There are Deaf Jews and Jews with various disabilities throughout the world. For instance, a Wine with a Peppery character can remind one of the sharp bite of Black Pepper or the more subtle heat of White Pepper. ZOA Urges President Trump - Immediately Invoke Promise To Support Israel In Eradicating Hamas, Which Repeatedly Violates Ceasefire Jewish Connection News Nov 20, 2025 Zionist Organization Of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein Released The Following Statement: In a CNN interview on October 5, 2025, Jake Tapper asked President Trump, “What happens if Hamas insists on staying in power in Gaza?” President Trump responded: “Complete obliteration!” That’s the exact right response that Israel and the entire region needs to assure peace in the Middle East. And on October 16, 2025, President Trump posted on Truth Social: “If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them!” And on October 14, 2025, U.S. Ambassador to France Charles Kushner (President Trump’s mechuten) stated: “From the beginning, President Donald Trump made two principles unmistakably clear. First, Israel has an absolute right to defend itself — not a conditional one, not subject to foreign approval.” During the few short days since the ceasefire deal began, commencing on day one, Hamas has violated the ceasefire deal multiple times and insisted on staying in power. First, instead of disarming, Hamas immediately reconstituted itself. Hamas recalled and recruited 7,000 troops and replenished itself with terrorists released from Israeli jails. Second, Hamas immediately sent civilians and then terrorists to attempt to attack Israeli troops at the “yellow line” behind which Israel retreated. Third, Hamas has been publicly executing and slaughtering hundreds of rivals – using the pretext that they are Israeli collaborators. Fourth, Hamas has failed to return approximately 15 of the bodies of Israelis that it murdered and held in Gaza. Fifth, Hamas has commandeered Gazan schools and hospitals and is using them to interrogate opponents. Sixth, Hamas is summoning employees of aid agencies to obtain information to enable Hamas to retake control of humanitarian aid supplies. Seventh and worst of all for brave Israeli soldiers and their families who have already suffered so much to try to end Hamas’ brutal terrorism, on Sunday (October 19), in Rafah, Hamas terrorists emerged from tunnels and shot anti-tank missiles and sniper fire at Israelis, murdering two young Israeli soldiers – Yaniv Kula (age 21) and Itay Yavetz (age 26), and injuring three Israelis, including severely wounding an Israeli reservist. Eighth, yesterday (Monday, October 20), three Hamas terrorists, and later additional Hamas terrorists crossed the yellow line in the Shuja’iyya area, threatening Israeli troops and again violating the ceasefire. Every single day of delay prior to obliterating Hamas enables Hamas to further reorganize, further strengthen itself, solidify its control over Gaza, terrorize and murder more Palestinian opponents, and launch more deadly attacks against the Jewish State of Israel’s citizens. ZOA thus strongly urges the Administration not to delay supporting what has become inevitable and necessary, namely, Israel going in and obliterating Hamas. When Maria Bartiromo asked during an October 16, 2025 interview, “Is there a timeline to get Hamas to disarm, in your mind?” President Trump correctly explained that Hamas is replacing its fighters with young new terrorists, but responded: “. . . it’s not a hard timeline, but it’s a line in my own mind. And at a certain point, if they don’t do what they’re supposed to do, then we’ll have to do it for them.” ZOA urges the president to make that line now. When CNN asked, “What happens if Hamas refuses to disarm?” During an October 15, 2025 interview, President Trump responded: “Israel will return to those streets as soon as I say the word. If Israel could go in and knock the crap out of them, they’d do that. . . I had to hold them [the IDF] back. . . . .” We appreciate the administration understanding the need to return to demolishing the Hamas terrorists, but the administration should not adopt the Biden policy of holding Israel back from what Israel must do to assure its safety and peace. We are also concerned about the Axios report, that, in response to Hamas’ deadly attack on Israelis on Sunday, an unnamed U.S. official said the U.S. merely urged Israel to “respond proportionately but show restraint,” and “told Israel the focus should be on isolating Hamas for its violations and actions and moving fast towards creating an alternative for Hamas in Gaza, rather than resuming the war.” There is no way to isolate Hamas and end Hamas’ violations and violence without obliterating Hamas. U.S. Vice President JD Vance admitted last night (October 19, 2025), following the Hamas anti-tank missile and sniper attack that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded another three, that “There is no security Infrastructure currently that would ensure Hamas is disarmed.” The only way is to destroy Hamas, before Hamas becomes stronger and more entrenched. It is also vital to avoid any excuse that absolves Hamas of responsibility for its terror attacks. ZOA was concerned that, on Air Force One on Sunday, when speaking about Hamas’ deadly anti-tank missile and sniper attack on Israelis, the president commented: “As you know, they’ve [Hamas terrorists have] been quite rambunctious. They’ve been doing some shooting, and we think maybe the leadership isn’t involved in that.” ZOA also urges the president not to fall for attempts to disassociate some Hamas terrorists from their supposed leaders. They are all Hamas terrorists, armed and trained by Hamas, and carrying out the unchanging dictates of the Hamas charter to murder every Jew and destroy Israel. Concerningly, the president also indicated that he did not know whether Israeli counter-strikes were “justified.” Striking a terror organization that has murdered your soldiers is not only justified; it is vital to do so. History has taught us that ignoring evil with no real response will lead to disastrous outcomes. The world did not respond forcefully when Germany illegally invaded Czechoslovakia’s Sudetenland — a time when it could have stopped Hitler. This led to World War II and millions of deaths. The world and America did not respond forcefully when Iran took 66 American hostages — a time when Khomeini could have been stopped. The result was the establishment of an evil terrorist regime and thousands of deaths. The world and America, under President Biden, stopped Israel from responding forcefully in May 2021, when Hamas launched 4,500 missiles at Israel in a matter of days. As a result, Hamas continued to grow stronger and perpetrated the October 7 massacre. Israel and America did not respond to, and even whitewashed, the Palestinian Authority’s violations when Yasser Arafat violated every obligation the Palestinian Arabs had under the Oslo agreements. This resulted in the establishment of a Palestinian Arab terrorist regime that incited and gave financial rewards to Palestinian Arab terrorists to kill and maim thousands of Jews. Don’t Get Caught Up with the Crowd By Bryan Golden May 26, 2022 Share Many problems we have could be avoided or minimized if more people refused to follow the crowd. Group behavior often instills fear and panic as it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Regardless of reality, the crowd is led with false premises. They then behave as if what they are being told is true. As a result, their actions transform the alleged circumstances into reality. For example, there are reports that a specific bank might be having financial problems. In fact, there is no truth to the rumors. Nevertheless, its customers panic, causing a run on the bank. Now the bank does have monetary difficulties. Crowd mentality is a powerful force that sweeps up many as it builds momentum. However, crowd mentality is rarely grounded in logic or reasonable thinking. Group think assimilates individuals who, by themselves, normally aren't governed by fear. One major contributing factor to the crowd mentality is media hysteria. The media's choice of words when reporting on events has a huge impact. Subjective descriptions are used to evoke a specific reaction. When the headlines are dire, the crowd behaves accordingly. A negative group mindset is as contagious as an Epidemic. Individuals are subjected to peer pressure. They are chastised for any contrarian views. Mob psychology has impacted us throughout history. People caught up in a crowd mentality accept what they are told without questioning its validity. The result is a few controlling many. Just watch how a few sheepdogs can direct a herd of hundreds of sheep. People will behave as part of the crowd in ways they would never imagine were they acting independently. You want to guard against being pulled into the crowd. Although it’s tempting to go along with the flow, resistance is worth the effort. Giving up your individuality carries too high of a price. There are some simple steps you can take to avoid getting caught up with the crowd. You don’t have to participate in any mass hysteria. You are in control of your thoughts and actions. Think for yourself. Ask questions. What is the source of the information you are getting and what is the bias? Also, is there any hidden agenda? What works for others isn’t necessarily right for you. You need not follow along just because someone else is behaving in a particular fashion. Consider your own situation and beliefs. What makes sense for you is the essential issue. For example, let’s consider the economy. Historically, its fluctuations are cyclic. Perhaps there is a downturn and the crowd is yelling that the sky is falling. However, you have an income and are OK financially. Why should you change your behavior and go along with the crowd? What about a situation where the opposite exists? The crowd is gushing about a surging economy. Yet, you have lost your job and are struggling. In this case, you must tailor your actions to accommodate your situation. What others say or think about you doesn’t matter. Your life shouldn’t be structured to seek approval. You are responsible for your actions along with the results. You can’t blame anyone else for what you do. The excuse, “everyone else was doing it” doesn’t have any validity. When you follow the crowd, you abdicate your free will. The risk is doing things you may regret. Your behavior may then also exacerbate your own situation, making problems worse. Crowd behavior and attitude is often negative. By getting caught up in it, you get pulled down. Stay independent, remain positive and follow your own path. You will be happier and accomplish more!
