PAL Family Fun Day

April 6, 2023

The Hallandale Beach Police Athletic League hosted its Sixth Annual Family Fun Day at Peter Bluesten Park on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 where families gathered free of charge to play in the park, fly kites, purchase refreshments from the concession stand and have a photo taken with the Miami Marlins Mascot.

P.A.L. Program Director, Jonathan Carrillo is grateful to the City of Hallandale Beach and Fenstersheib Law Group for their continual support in enabling these programs.

Billy The Marlin was seen posing with venerable Hallandale Beach Mayor, Joy Cooper and several Police Athletic League Volunteers while all of the children received Marlin’s baseballs to take home. Families were also given complimentary kites to fly while some more sophisticated kites were available for sale.

Hallandale Beach Kiwanian Kenny Cohan has been an extraordinary volunteer and pointed out that several games were available to play including the popular cornhole toss. Cohan sorted t-shirts in various sizes that each child received compliments of the City.

The P.A.L Concession Stand was buzzing with activity selling hot dogs, soda, water and chips to the hungry guests.

What is PAL?
PAL is a national organization that police departments in different cities across the country implement to foster a greater connection between law enforcement, cities, and communities through recreational sports. PAL runs throughout the year, offering two to three sports children can choose from each month, such as baseball, basketball, boxing, cheerleading, football, soccer, and track and field. The teams travel throughout South Florida for games and are always accompanied by Hallandale Beach Police officers.

“Sports teach you everything about teamwork, winning and overcoming adversity,” he said. “We just feel it’s a big part of growing up, as well as becoming a productive citizen.” PAL Coordinator Jonathan Carrillo.

The Police Athletic League enables our youth to participate in a variety of organized sports. If you are looking to participate in a sport that requires skill, strength, strategic thinking and the desire to play as part of a team? Whichever level you play at, a sport can enhance your life, improving fitness, strength and coordination.

PAL of Hallandale Beach also offers programs such as our Leadership Academy and Sports Academy. Please visit: www.hallandalebeachpal.com for more information.
