Enjoy the New Year - With Eclectic Shows at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center

Prepare to be impressed as The City of Aventura presents Tango Apasionado on Saturday, January 4 at 8 p.m. and a matinee performance on Sunday, January 5 at 2 p.m. This beautiful marriage of two styles of dance features the only tango and ballet fusion dance company in the world, PointeTango, performing with the superstar tango ensemble Payadora. These two amazing companies come together on this journey through the streets of Buenos Aires bringing drama, intensity and romance. Audiences will be surprised and engaged by Payadora's varied repertoire and wowed by PointeTango's artistry and athleticism. Critically acclaimed and award-winning PointeTango was created by Prima ballerina Erin Scott Kafadar and the incredible choreographer and director Alex Richardson.

The City of Aventura presents Robert Klein in a one-man variety showcase of his comedy, musical and theatrical talents as part of the Aventura Stand Up Comedy Series on Thursday, January 9 at 8 p.m. A pioneer in modern stand-up comedy who inspired heavyweights like Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, Klein received Best Comedy Album of the Year Grammy® Award nominations for his albums Child of the Fifties and Mind Over Matter, while his HBO specials have received two Emmy® Award nominations. In addition to making regular appearance on talk shows, including making more than 100 appearances on The Tonight Show and The Late Show, his performance on Broadway in They're Playing Our Song received a Tony® Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. Dean Lives presents The Dean Martin Story on Saturday, January 11th at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Las Vegas headliner Drew Anthony stars as Dean Martin as he delivers the story, the music and the memories. Destined for Broadway, the musical covers Martin's career including his beginnings with Jerry Lewis, the glory days of Las Vegas and the beloved Dean Martin Show. The show features all the hits and appearances from stars such as Johnny Carson, Marilyn Monroe and Peggy Lee.

Miami International Piano Festival presents Croatian pianist Kemal Gekic, on Sunday, January 12th at 5 p.m. Gekic made his U.S. debut in 1999 at the Miami International Piano Festival and was later appointed as the artist-in-residence at Florida International University. Renowned for his exceptional performances, extensive repertoire and influential mentorship, Gekic is regarded as one of the most significant piano virtuosos of our time. His performances consistently earn critical acclaim, showcasing a daunting technique paired with intelligence, poetic vision and artistic imagination resulting in some of the most thrilling interpretations of classical repertoire today. A strong advocate for diverse and eclectic music programs, Gekic believes that modern and future musicians must be well-rounded and informed professionals. Performing globally from a vast repertoire, he delivers captivating, uncompromising and ever-evolving interpretations that consistently generate frenzied audience enthusiasm.

The City of Aventura showcases one of the greatest voices of our times, Linda Eder on Friday, January 17th at 8 p.m. With a diverse repertoire that spans Broadway, standards, pop, country and jazz, she moves back and forth between genres with ease. The New York Times applauded, "What do we mean when we use the word perfection? The question arises every time I watch the pop singer Linda Eder…." Eder launched her recording career in 1991, quickly establishing herself as one of America's most popular and acclaimed interpreters of pop, standards and theatrical music. She starred as the tragic character Lucy in the original Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde, where her powerful rendition of signature songs like “Someone Like You” and “A New Life” captivated audiences at New York City’s Plymouth Theatre eight times a week. Her Broadway debut earned her a Drama Desk nomination and solidified her status as one of America’s most beloved singers and dynamic live performers. Cirque Journey Entertainment presents Magic & Mayhem – LIVE! Witness The Impossible! on Saturday, January 18th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dizzy the Trickster, the lead magician from The Illusionists - Live From Broadway, delivers an immersive, interactive and unbelievable night of wonder and laughter. Joined by Jana, the duo bend reality with mischievous charm, sleight of hand, mentalism and audacious audience interactions. This show of side-splitting comedy and mind-boggling mysticism is a family-friendly event perfect for the whole family.

It's a Rent reunion as the 2025 Broadway Concert Series presented by the City of Aventura begins with Tony Award® nominee Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp on Sunday, January 19th at 7 p.m. The duo is performing their new show while celebrating 30 years of friendship in an unforgettable and celebratory night of music, stories and fun. They will deliver songs from Rent and various projects throughout their careers as well as music that has influenced their lives. Since originating the role of Roger in Rent, Pascal has appeared in leading roles in the Broadway hits Aida, Memphis, Something Rotten! and Disaster! Rapp, who originated the role of Mark in Rent, just completed an acclaimed Off-Broadway run of his original show Without You and is known for starring in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and If/Then. Yitzhak Fried delivers another evening of Yiddish classics that takes audiences back to a world long gone and yet forever around. Witness Forever Yiddish 2 - More Songs from the Shtetl on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m. Born and raised in post-war Austria, Yitzhak internalized the Yiddish language and melodies that he grew up with in his parents' home. Fried leads audiences on an emotional voyage through songs and stories – sad and happy – and of course with a bissele humor. He offers more Yiddish classics that speak to the soul accompanied by acclaimed pianist Alan Mason, who has played on stages worldwide. Proceeds of this evening will go to support Leket Israel, the leading food rescue organization in Israel.

Don’t miss the opportunity see this hilarious spoof when The City of Aventura presents Spamilton: An American Parody, on Friday, January 24th at 8 p.m.; Saturday January 25th at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, January 26th at 2 p.m. Spamilton was regarded by The New York Times as, “smart, silly and convulsively funny!" Countless film and stage stars drop by to add to the fun and mayhem in this fictious story of a very famous writer-director-star trying to save Broadway from mediocrity and oblivion. Along the way, this sharp and loveable genius not only takes aim at Broadway's current mega-hit but manages to make hysterical mincemeat out of many classic and new Broadway shows. This musical romp offers a crash course in favorite Broadway blockbusters and features celebrity satires and pop culture zingers accompanied by hip-hop on the piano. Don’t miss the Tal Cohen Trio on Thursday, January 30th at 8 p.m. presented by Yi Love Jewish. Grammy award-winning jazz pianist, Tal Cohen, unique style infuses jazz with traditional Middle Eastern rhythms, has performed around the world with jazz greats such as Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby, Ignacio Berroa and Joe Lovano. Tal and his ensemble have played at numerous iconic jazz festivals such as Jazzbez Jazz Festival in Ukraine, The Detroit Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival, The Miami Beach Jazz Festival, The D.C. Jazz Festival, and NS Sopot Jazz Festival in Poland. A winner of the Barry Harris national piano competition at the Detroit Jazz Festival and the Freedom Jazz Fellowship in his native Australia, Tal’s recent album, ‘Gentle Giants,’ received rave reviews and 4-stars from DownBeat Magazine. His current collaboration with six-time Grammy Award-winner John Daversa is a duo project that explores breaking boundaries of what a duo can achieve.
