Don Soffer High School presents West Side Story, the timeless musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th and Thursday, April 11th. The Jets and Sharks, rival gangs of American and Puerto Rican descent, ignite a tale of love and tragedy set amidst the gritty streets of New York City. The production explores societal tensions, cultural clashes and the power of love in the face of adversity through an iconic score featuring classics like "Maria" and "Tonight" created by composer Leonard Bernstein and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. With its groundbreaking dance sequences and poignant storytelling, West Side Story remains a powerful and influential masterpiece in the world of musical theater.

Showcasing a repertoire that only the highest caliber of dancers can execute flawlessly, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida's Spring Ballet Gala closes its season on Saturday, April 13th at 7:30 p.m. This grand finale features a captivating production of Petrouchka featuring Stravinsky's mesmerizing music, stunning costumes, breathtaking scenery, and choreography by acclaimed Artistic Director Vladimir Issaev. Set in the midst of a fair, this one-act ballet unravels the tale of three puppets: the lovestruck clown Petrouchka, the infatuated Ballerina and the alluring Moor who are brought to life by the manipulative Charlatan. The program will also feature the timeless and classical ballet Le Spectre de La Rose. This short ballet follows a young girl who dreams of dancing with the spirit of a souvenir rose from her first ball. With music by Webber and choreography by Fokine, this piece captures the essence of youthful enchantment.

For over 20 years, Brigham Young University-Idaho Sound Alliance and Vocal Union have combined to create upbeat instrumental and vocal concerts that entertain and inspire audiences of all ages. They present Night at the Swing Club, an evening of Big Band Jazz, on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m. An 18-Piece Big Band with typical instrumentation of Rhythm Section, Trumpets, Trombones and Saxophones, the Sound Alliance’s repertoire spans the history of the Jazz tradition from early dance bands to modern Jazz orchestras. Leaving audiences spellbound with their precision harmonies and vocal energy, Vocal Union is an ensemble of 14 singers that performs some of the very best in popular, Big Band and Classic Jazz tunes.

South Florida Legends presents Bee Gees NOW! the Tribute on Saturday, April 27th at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. This masterful, musical journey through the Bee Gees songbook features beautiful love ballads and dance fever hits that made them a musical sensation. Having thrilled audiences around the globe, Bee Gees NOW! The Tribute is a dynamic, interactive and thoroughly entertaining celebration of the Multi-Platinum kings of Disco.

Miami International Piano Festival presents Albert Cano Smit from Spain on Sunday, April 28th at 5 p.m. He performs a captivating program of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Schubert’s Piano Sonata in A minor, Debussy’s La Plus Que Lente and two compositions by Faure and Granados. Noted for his captivating performances, storytelling quality and nuanced musicality, the First Prize winner of the 2019 Young Concert Artists International Auditions has appeared as a soloist with the San Diego, Montreal, Las Vegas, Manchester and Barcelona symphony orchestras, among others. He also won First Prize at the 2017 Walter W. Naumburg Piano Competition, which presented him in a recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Most recently, Albert was awarded the 2020 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Prize from The Juilliard School. The San Francisco Classical Voice reported “The audience witnessed a genius at work.” Not suggested for children under 12 years of age.
