68th Annual Candy Cane Parade On Hollywood Beach

City of Hollywood

December 5, 2024

The 68th Annual Candy Cane Parade is lighting up the iconic Hollywood Beach Broadwalk this Saturday, December 7th, starting at 7 p.m. This year’s theme, “Favorite Children’s Christmas Movie,” promises a nostalgic evening filled with holiday cheer.

What began as a creative initiative back in the mid-1950’s by a group of enterprising Hollywood merchants has blossomed into one of the longest-standing holiday parades in the nation. The inaugural parade was conceived as a clever strategy to entice patrons to peruse the local shops and businesses. Over the decades, this simple yet ingenious idea has grown into a beloved tradition, captivating audiences with its array of brilliantly illuminated floats and vehicles.

Today it features dozens of lighted floats and vehicles along the parade route entertaining the thousands of spectators who line the Broadwalk.

The parade kicks off at Missouri Street, traveling south along the Broadwalk, passing the parade emcee stationed at the Hollywood Beach Theatre on Johnson Street, and concluding at Harrison Street. Guests can enjoy prime viewing by bringing a lawn chair or securing a table at one of the many seaside restaurants lining the route. Marvel at the festive floats, energetic marching bands, and imaginative displays crafted by civic groups, non-profits, and children’s organizations.

To “Help Keep Hollywood Beautiful,” parade participants are encouraged to hand out candy instead of tossing it from floats, helping to reduce waste along the Broadwalk and beach. Parade-goers can also show their commitment to sustainability by bringing reusable water bottles and be #SeenBeingGreen.

Due to the high demand for parking on the barrier island, beginning at 5:00 p.m., parade goers are encouraged to park in one of the Downtown Parking Garages and take the free patron shuttle to the beach. The Downtown Parking Garages are located at 19th Avenue at Polk Street and 20th Avenue at Van Buren Street. Shuttles will circulate non-stop throughout the evening with the last shuttle leaving the beach at 10:00 p.m. Downtown Parking Rates apply.

Presented by the City of Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, this beloved holiday tradition is not to be missed! For more details, visit: www.hollywoodfl.org.
