
Memorial Day In South Florida: Community Events Paying Tribute To Our Veterans

Memorial Day Is Returning And Soon Many People Will Honor War Veterans. For Decades, Many Servicemen And Women Hurt Themselves Or Died After They Fought On Battlefields. Today, Thanks To Them, Americans Can Enjoy Freedom. On Monday, May 25th, 2026 Many Of South Florida’s Residents, Visitors, Veterans, And Active Duty Personnel Will Reflect And Respect The Sacrifices Numerous Brave Soldiers Made For Our Country.
Below is a list of cities and Veteran Organizations in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties that will salute these fallen heroes.
In Broward County, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Veterans Park on 3550 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, Florida 33066, the City of Coconut Creek and American Legion Post 170, will organize its Memorial Remembrance Ceremony presenting local officials, dignitaries, and the Coconut Creek Police Honor Guard. In Parkland, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the city will have its Veteran observance consisting of guest speakers, patriotic performances, and a wreath presentation at the P-REC Gymnasium, 10559 Trails End, Parkland, Florida 33076. More information, call: (954) 757–4107.
In Margate, the city will oversee a service at Veterans Memorial Park, 7044 Northwest 1st Street, Margate, Florida 33063 honoring fallen U.S. Military men and women. Local officials will speak and the public is encouraged to attend. More information, call: (954) 972–6458.
In Coral Springs, the city and the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, are throwing a Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Veterans Park, 8601 Royal Palm Boulevard, Coral Springs, Florida 33065. The gathering includes a wreath placement, color guard, salute volley, and patriotic music. More information, call: (954) 345-2200.
In the City of Tamarac, starting at 10:30 a.m., its Memorial Day Ceremony will be at Tamarac Veterans Park, 7825 Southgate Boulevard, Tamarac, Florida 33321 and includes a guest speaker, special music, and refreshments. More information, call: (954) 597–3620.
In Pompano Beach, the city and American Legion Post 142 are coordinating their Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. From 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., it kicks off with a parade at Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2401 East Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach, Florida 33062 and proceeds to the Pompano Beach Cemetery, located at 400 Southeast 23rd Avenue, Pompano Beach, Florida 33062 to honor fallen service members. In Sunrise, 9:00 a.m., is when the city will launch its event at the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre, located at 10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise, Florida 33351. The affair consists of a wreath placement, bagpipes, Sunrise Police/Fire Rescue Honor Guards, and honored guests. More information, call: (954) 746–3670.
Meanwhile, officials with the City of Fort Lauderdale will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery, 2001 Southwest 4th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33315 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The commemoration consists of a color guard, Veteran Memorial flowers placement, a dove release, patriotic music, military tribute, and a gun salute. Heading west, the Town of Davie and Boy Scouts of America are throwing their Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade commences at 10:30 a.m. and starts just west of the Davie Fire Administration Building, 6901 Orange Drive, Davie, Florida 33314 then proceeds east on Orange Drive to Southwest 65th way and then north to the Rodeo Grounds, 4201 Southwest 65th Way, Davie, Florida 33314.
The ceremony begins at about 11:00 a.m. and will have guest speakers, town dignitaries, presentation of colors, folding and presentation of the American flag. Additional information, call: (954) 797–1181.
In Cooper City, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Cooper City American Legion Post 321, 9081 Southwest 51st Street, Cooper City, Florida 33328 will pay tribute to war Veterans by playing patriotic songs and throwing a big barbeque. More information, call: (954) 434–0965.
Starting at 9:00 a.m., the City of Pembroke Pines launches its Memorial Day Extravaganza at the City’s Fletcher Park located at 7900 Johnson Street, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024. Ceremonial activities include: the color presentation by Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Honor Guard, guest speakers, and a formal wreath-placing ceremony. More information, call: (954) 392–2216.
In Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami Gardens will host the Sergeant La David T. Johnson Memorial Day Breakfast at 10:00 a.m. at the Senior Family Center, 18330 Northwest 12th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida 33169.
The Memorial Day Breakfast was named in honor of Army Sergeant La David T. Johnson, a 25-year-old American soldier from Miami Gardens who was killed in action on October 4th, 2017 while supporting a counter-terror mission in Niger, West Africa.
In North Miami Beach, the city will put together its Memorial Service starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Corporal Howard B. Hinson Park for Fallen War Heroes located at 160th Street and Northwest 14th Avenue. Guest speakers and special presentations will honor fallen Veterans. More information, call: (305) 947-7581.
The Town of Miami Lakes will also organize a Memorial Day Ceremony from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Noon, at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 Northwest 82nd Avenue, Miami Lakes, Florida 33016. The gathering, organized by the town’s Veterans Committee, will honor the brave men and women who lost their lives serving our nation. More information, call: (305) 364–6100.
Meanwhile, the City of North Miami will hold its Memorial Day Ceremony starting at 10:00 a.m. The occasion will be at Griffing Park, 12220 Griffing Boulevard, North Miami, Florida 33161 displaying a wreath dedication, posting of colors, a 21-gun salute, and lowering the flag to half-staff. And starting at 9:00 a.m., the Village of Miami Shores is planning its Memorial Day Ceremony at Memorial Park, Northeast 94th Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue. This tribute will honor and remember those who served. More information, call: (305) 758–8103.
In Miami Springs, the city’s Memorial Day Ceremony from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Noon, will feature a parade and ceremony located at or near the War Memorial/Veterans Park area on Curtiss Parkway. Moving to the City of Coral Gables, its planning a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at the War Memorial Youth Center, 405 University Drive, Coral Gables, Florida 33134.

In the City of Homestead, VFW Post 4127, 601 Northeast 2nd Road, Homestead, Florida 33030 will salute war Veterans with a ceremony. More information, call: (305) 245–4535.
Also, in Homestead, Fruit & Spice Park, 24801 Southwest 187th Avenue, Homestead, Florida 33031 will organize a “Salute to Service: Memorial Day at the Park,” offering free admission to Veterans and Active-Duty Military.
The day will have guided tram tours at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., along with fruit tasting tours at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. More information, call: (305) 247–5727.
Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25th, 2026, the Richard L. Cromartie American Legion Post 374 in the Village of Key Biscayne will coordinate its war Veteran event at Village Green Park, located at 450 Crandon Boulevard, Key Biscayne, Florida 33149. Finally, South Miami Beach will showcase its Memorial Day Weekend Bash with the Hyundai Air & Sea Show, from Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 Sunday, May 24th, 2026 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., which serves as a tribute to the Military. The show presents six U.S. military branches and displays high-speed jet passes, aerobatics, drone shows, high-speed boats, water demonstrations, and fireworks.
