Storm Into Summer With Larger-Than-Life Adventures At The Museum Of Discovery And Science (MODS) In May! Stomp Into Expedition: Dinosaur - Rise Of The Mammals, Harness The Force During Star Wars Day, Explore Hands-On STEM Activities During Wild Science Weekends And Prepare For Hurricane Season At Eye Of The Storm, During MODS’ Signature FREE Admission Day In Partnership With The Florida Division Of Emergency Management (FDEM) And Florida International University’s (FIU) International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC).

“This summer is shaping up to be our biggest, STEAM-based action-packed one yet,” said Joseph P. Cox, President and CEO of MODS. “From exploring giant footprints on land to traveling at lightspeed to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, families will become immersed in wild science. Dinosaurs will dominate our second floor with an incredible new traveling exhibit and with the upcoming opening of our new HoloTheater this summer that combines 3D holographic technology, stunning visuals and audio for a one-of-a-kind prehistoric adventure. Plus, storm chasers can learn how to track Florida’s natural disasters and prepare themselves for recovery efforts.”


This Is The Way

Many enjoyed an interstellar adventure at MODS with Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You event. Guests had the opportunity to build a bot, train as a Padawan in an interactive Jedi workshop and engineer a starship to navigate challenges from a galaxy far, far away. If you would like to feel the Force your family can watch a showing of the IMAX® films Space: The New Frontier, Asteroid Hunters or Deep Sky now playing at the AutoNation® IMAX® Theater. Curiosity Comes Alive During Wild Science Weekends in May

Every weekend in May, guests can dive into hands-on STEM adventures during Wild Science Weekends at MODS! Enjoy interactive experiments, animal encounters, maker challenges and special activities for young scientists (ages 0-6) in the Sprouting STEM Early Childhood Learning Lab. Themes change weekly, offering fresh experiences for repeat visits. All activities are included with Museum admission.


Dino-mania Hits MODS Starting Friday, May 23rd, 2025:

This summer, dinosaurs take over MODS in a thrilling, immersive way. First, uncover the mysteries of Earth’s greatest transformation on an epic journey through the final days of the dinosaurs when Expedition: Dinosaur - Rise of the Mammals roars to life on Friday, May 23rd! This captivating traveling exhibit takes you through the moments before, during and after the extinction event that ended the age of the dinosaurs. Guests will marvel at life-size animatronic dinosaurs and mammals, complete with realistic movements and sounds, and delve into fascinating educational and interactive hands-on activities including cutting-edge paleontology experiences as they journey through extinction, evolution and resilience. Developed by Stage Nine Exhibits and locally sponsored by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the exhibit runs through Monday, September 1st, 2025. MODS’ don’t miss dinosaur-themed IMAX® films include T. Rex, Dinosaurs of Antarctica and Dino Dana: The Movie. The exhibits and one film are included with Museum admission.



Opening this summer, through dynamic visuals and holographic technology, get up-close and personal with life-size dinosaurs in Dinosaur Discoveries: A Holographic Adventure. This stunning visual journey through 140 years of paleontology brings dinosaurs to life in jaw-dropping fashion in MODS’ new HoloTheater. Developed by BASE Xperiential, producers of mixed-media and live holographic entertainment and brought to market in partnership with MacGillivray Freeman Films, the world’s foremost independent producer and distributor of giant-screen films, the HoloTheater redefines museum storytelling with an interactive learning experience that blends advanced holographic projection, panoramic visuals and spatial audio to engage and inspire audiences of all ages.

Stay Safe This Hurricane Season with “Eye of the Storm”


Hurricane season begins Sunday, June 1st, 2025 — is your family prepared? On Saturday, May 31st, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., MODS, in partnership with FDEM and FIU’s IHRC, will host Eye of the Storm – a FREE admission day focused on hurricane science, mitigation and preparedness. Guests will enjoy live weather theater shows, hurricane expert presentations, FIU Wind Engineering demos, NOAA Hurricane Hunters, Kids Zone activities, emergency vehicle "Touch a Truck," mascot meet-and-greets and more. Families can also explore Florida’s Climate Future City, sponsored by the Environmental Defense Fund, and young meteorologists (ages 0-6) can create “My Hero Helper” portraits.
