Vladimir Issaev’s “La Traviata Pas de Deux” follows, along with his “Shostakovich Suites.” Guest choreographer Alberto Mendez presents “Tarde en la Siesta” in collaboration with Issaev. The evening concludes with the U.S. premiere of Issaev’s “Polovtsian Dances,” set to Borodin’s opera score and performed by 32 dancers. Dance NOW! Miami presents Program III, featuring “Love-less: Dance of the Last Moho braccatus,” a world premiere by Co-Artistic Director Hannah Baumgarten, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. The contemporary ballet is inspired by the story of the black-and-yellow Hawaiian songbird driven to extinction by habitat destruction and climate change. Set to an original score by Italian composer Federico Bonacossa, the work explores themes of paradise lost, love and the fragility of the natural world. Ornithologists once tracked the species as a surviving pair offering hope for its continuation. In a tragic turn, a hurricane killed the female, leaving the male to continue calling for his mate. The final recording of the bird’s distinctive call was captured in 1987. The evening also includes audience favorites from the company’s 26th season.
