Broward County Transit, In Collaboration With District 9 Commissioner Hazelle P. Rogers, Hosted A Well-Attended Public Meeting On Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, At The Lauderhill Central Park Library To Present The TransitFORWARD 2040 Vision Plan. The Event Brought Together Local Leaders, Including The City Of Lauderhill Commissioner Ray Martin, City Of Margate Commissioner Joanne Simone, And City Of Oakland Park Commissioner Fitz Budhoo. The Auditorium Was Filled With 35 District Residents Eager To Learn About The County's Vision For Future Transit Improvements.

TransitFORWARD is Broward County's long-term multi-phase strategy to strengthen and enhance the transit system. Key recommendations include launching 20 new micro transit zones, expanding service hours, eliminating transit deserts, increasing service frequency, and upgrading rider amenities. With an estimated $1.4 Billion investment, the plan is projected to increase ridership by +68% by 2040.

"The TransitFORWARD 2040 Vision Plan reimagines the way that service is currently delivered in Broward County," said Coree Cuff Lonergan, General Manager/CEO of Broward County Transit. "Every conversation with our community helps us shape a transit system that is more connected, more reliable, and more responsive to the needs of the future."

Residents actively engaged throughout the session, raising questions that reflected both curiosity and urgency around the future of transit in Broward County. Topics included "how soon improvements could be implemented," "how service frequency could be increased to reduce wait times," and "what new connections may be available to key destinations such as the airport, seaport, and coastal areas." Attendees also asked about "the role of light rail and premium transit corridors" and "when the tap to pay system will be implemented."

The meeting is a part of a broader series of community engagement efforts supporting the vision plan. Additional meetings are scheduled, offering residents the opportunity to learn more, share feedback, and engage directly with Broward County representatives during Q&A sessions.

Residents are encouraged to register for an upcoming meeting at: mybct.org/transitforward2040.
