The World Will Be A Safer Place When The Threat Of The Iranian Regime’s Illicit Nuclear And Missile Programs, Along With The IRGC, Is Dismantled Once And For All. We Hope Today’s Military Action Is A Decisive Step Toward Fulfilling That Vital Mission. The Iranian regime has, for decades, pursued policies that threaten U.S. interests, endanger Israel and our Arab partners, destabilize the broader Middle East, and undermine global security. Its relentless advancement of a nuclear program in defiance of international obligations, combined with its ballistic missile proliferation, sponsorship of terrorist proxies, and violent repression at home, has brought the region to this perilous moment. AJC has supported the Trump Administration's numerous attempts to reach a diplomatic solution and is grateful for the President's ironclad commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. The regime, however, has repeatedly demonstrated that rather than engaging in good faith, it remained committed to pursuing its decades-long ambition to develop weapons of mass destruction. Such a capability would pose an existential threat not only to Israel, but to the entire Middle East, Europe, and the broader international order. In addition to its nuclear ambitions, this regime has amassed a ballistic missile arsenal that it has repeatedly deployed – and has unleashed today – against Israel and our partners in the Gulf. Tehran has for decades been unwilling to curb its missile activity or seriously address this issue in previous negotiations. Today’s military action follows years of Iranian escalation, deception, and refusal to meet its international commitments — including the most recent inconclusive negotiations in Geneva. The responsibility for this crisis lies entirely with Tehran. Let us not forget that the Iranian regime has continued to brutalize its own people during months of deadly response to those bravely raising their voices against repression. AJC stands in unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people in their desire for freedom. The ultimate goal of today’s action and what follows must remain unchanged: ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon, constraining its destabilizing regional activities, and advancing a future in which diplomacy — grounded in accountability and verification — can succeed where past efforts have failed. The Iranian people deserve a government that prioritizes their welfare over confrontation and repression. The international community must remain focused not only on nuclear constraints, but also on Iran’s ongoing human rights abuses and support for terror. This is a sobering moment. The stakes for regional security, global nonproliferation, and civilian lives are extraordinarily high. Standing with Israel: A Message from the Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach By Larisa Svechin, Mayor November 17, 2023 Share Saturday, October 7, 2023, will forever be known as a day of unspeakable abomination, unimaginable evil, and an excruciating reminder that hatred and Antisemitism persist as the single most dangerous blight on the Jewish people. Absolute evil and darkness brought unthinkable horror to the people of Israel, the collective Jewish community, and the world. This unprovoked Terrorist massacre by Hamas against innocent civilians, including babies, elderly, Holocaust survivors, women, men, and even pets, was an event we never thought we would witness again. Yet, it happened while we slept. Not since the Shoah have so many Jews been terrorized, maimed, raped, tortured, and murdered. The devastation of this atrocity will affect generations. Our community collectively mourns and weeps. In some way, we all have a connection to Israel, whether through relatives, friends, friends of friends, or just the fact that it is the only democratic country in the Middle East that shares our values and beliefs. For me, it is all these things. I anxiously await news daily from my family members and our community who are living or visiting Israel. Many in our community have deeper ties to Israel, and yet, we all jointly grieve and pray. Israel remains strong and determined in the face of this adversity; they will win. However, they do not stand alone. It cannot be stressed enough how important it is for us to stand with Israel, particularly with our sister city, Netanya. Sunny Isles Beach stands with Israel. I stand with Israel. In the coming weeks, and possibly months, we must maintain and uphold our support of the people of Israel and the Jewish community of Sunny Isles Beach. Come Celebrate! South Florida Jubilee Chorus' Performs Its First Live Performance in 30 Months July 21, 2022 Share After a hiatus of more than 30 months, Broward County's only all women's a cappella chorus, South Florida Jubilee Chorus, will be back on stage on Saturday, July 30 at 2 pm in Fort Lauderdale. (United Church of Christ 2501 NE 30th St, Fort Lauderdale) This performance: "Come Celebrate!" is the chorus' 2021 Holiday and 25th Anniversary show…Christmas in July. The original show date was postponed due to the surge of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 last December. It's been a long journey from 47 members in March 2020 to our current 26. The chorus continued rehearsing during the pandemic holding weekly rehearsals on Zoom, with occasional outdoor rehearsals and produced a virtual show last July. Last August, the ladies returned to in-person rehearsals, rehearsing masked and socially distanced. Under the direction of James Kastler, the ladies worked tirelessly to get their show ready for the December show date but, in an abundance of caution, decided to postpone it. "We are thrilled to finally be able to hold our Holiday/25th Anniversary show and are excited to welcome many of our chorus alumni who have been invited to the celebratory production," said Laurie Hunt, founding member and last year's president of South Florida Jubilee. "The show will include a video projection of photos and performances from the past 25 years that will bring smiles and tears to the audience." This show is made possible in part by a grant received from the Broward County Cultural Division.
