Hollywood Beach is a popular stop on the Elite Events South Florida Half Marathon Tour. Hollywood hosts multiple races this year, January & November. The beautiful pre-dawn and sunrise start and run along the Broadwalk are a huge draw for people from all over the U.S. The events take athletes through the eclectic, beautiful area and many stay in local hotels for the weekend. What To Expect The event features a start right near Hollywood North Beach Park. The course takes you through the iconic Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, an award-winning beach promenade featuring miles of pristine beach, a picturesque broadwalk, and an array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The route follows the beach giving you spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, and the chance to feel the sand under your feet and the ocean breeze in your hair immediately after you finish. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, this event has something to offer for everyone with both Half marathon and 5K options. At the start of the race runners will run along the picturesque Hollywood Broadwalk for miles as the sun comes up. A quick U-turn takes athletes back heading north on the Broadwalk with a good opportunity to see how your friends are doing amid magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. The course takes runners to North Surf Road to again run parallel to the Atlantic, running through a shaded tree tunnel before starting a second loop, until reaching nearly the end of the Broadwalk and Harry Berry Park. A beautiful finisher's medal for both the Half Marathon and 5K plus lots of snacks await at the finish line! Can I Walk The Event? Walkers are welcome at all of the Elite Events! There is a 3.5 hour time limit for the half marathon. After 3.5 hours, the course will open up to traffic. At that point, you must obey all traffic laws as if you were a pedestrian. You will still receive your finisher medal as long as you are close to finishing after the 3.5 hour time limit. Police, Volunteers, and Race Crew will be dismissed after 3.5 hours. All of the finish line and event equipment will be cleaned up after 3.5 hours. Ballet, Broadway, Books, Cats & Films March 2, 2022 Share Aventura Arts & Cultural Center has implemented a number of changes to ensure an enjoyable experience The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center performances continue with an array of Broadway stars, international films, musical, theatrical and dance presentations during the month of April. The Aventura International Film Series continues with Brighton 4th on Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. This story of parental sacrifice and the love of a father for his son, won three major awards at the Tribeca Film Festival: Best International Film, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay and is Georgia’s official submission to the 94th Academy Awards®. In the movie, former wrestler Kakhi, played by real-life Olympic champion Levan Tediashvili, embarks on a journey from his home in the Republic of Georgia to visit his son Soso, portrayed by Giorgi Tabidze, in the Russian-speaking neighborhood of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. There, he finds him living in a shabby boarding house populated by a colorful group of fellow Georgian immigrants. Not rated, this film is in Georgian and Russian with English subtitles. The Aventura International Film Series presented by the City of Aventura is hosted by Shelly Isaacs who introduces the film and leads a post-screening discussion. Tickets are $12. The Aventura Broadway Concert Series welcomes Lucie Arnaz on Sunday, April 10 at 7 p.m. Celebrating a life on stage, Arnaz returns to her theater roots with I Got the Job! This special performance looks back at some of Arnaz’s memorable performances, from her first role at 14 as The Cheshire Cat in Alice In Wonderland to a grandmother hanging upside down on a trapeze while singing about the preciousness of life in Pippin. With music director Ron Abel, Arnaz celebrates great American musical theatre with anecdotes and fond memories about her co-stars, directors and musical collaborators. In this latest offering in the Aventura Broadway Concert Series, she delivers iconic songs and hidden treasures from some of Broadway’s greatest shows and a look at the backstage magic it takes to create them. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun but what will happen if their mother finds out? Originally produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain, and adapted and originally directed by Katie Mitchel, the production is recommended for grade levels pre-K-3. Brotman Brings Decades Of Experience Across Communications Policy, Academia, And Public Service, Including Roles In Four U.S. Presidential Administrations On A Bipartisan Basis. During The George W. Bush Administration, Brotman Chaired The U.S.-Israel Science And Technology Foundation, Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation In Science And Technology. Brotman has played a pivotal role in shaping modern communications policy in the United States. His public service includes contributions to landmark federal initiatives that led to the introduction of cellular telephony, direct broadcast satellite services, and the development of email as a competitive commercial platform. He served as an appointed member of the U.S. Department of State’s Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy (ACICIP), advising on critical global economic, legal, and policy issues. He also was an appointed member of the Library of Congress Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel. The family-friendly activity is easy for anyone of any skill level to enjoy. Exploring Hollywood via Paddleboard is no longer just for those with their own equipment. The City is pleased to announce the recent partnership with “PADL,” a Paddleboard Equipment Rental Operation that offers Hourly Rentals and Monthly Memberships. The activity is so popular in Hollywood, new locations are being added. Visitors to the Beach may now access the Self-Service “PADL” Kiosks available for Public Use on Hollywood Beach.
