The program equips students with the time management, communication and critical thinking skills typically honed much later in college or early careers. "Depending on whether they continue in the same field of study, many enter college as juniors. But beyond cost savings, these students leave knowing what it feels like to meet high expectations - and exceed them." Ben agreed, noting the network and confidence he built in the program's immersive, college-level environment. "The professors taught me a lot more than just the subject matter. The supportive atmosphere helped me take initiative I might not have otherwise," Ben added. "The students and friends I made were all very future-focused and that set the standard for my own goals." Recognized for rigor and results In 2024, DUAA was ranked No. 13 on Chicago Magazine's list of the Best Public Schools, recognized for its curriculum strength, outcomes and college readiness. The program also earned the AP Access Award in 2023 for serving a representative percentage of AP exam takers from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds - a key marker of equity and access. While the broader field of dual enrollment has grown, with 2.5 million U.S. high school students taking at least one college course in 2022-23, according to the Community College Research Center (CCRC), Black, Hispanic and low-income students remain underrepresented nationally. DUAA's model helps shift that trend, offering a structured, supported and no-cost path to early college success. Building momentum with students' futures in mind DUAA's success isn't limited to Illinois. A new Advantage Academy launched last year in partnership with DeKalb County School District in Georgia, expanding access to students from any high school in the county. The Jewish American Security Act would establish new protections for Jewish students on college campuses, strengthen security programs for synagogues and NonProfit organizations, improve federal tracking of antisemitic incidents, and increase transparency surrounding antisemitic content on large online platforms. “Antisemitism is on the rise across our country, and the federal government has a responsibility to help protect Jewish communities,” said Congressman Moskowitz. “When a man in my district made a plot against my life, I got lucky when authorities prevented it. The Jewish American Security Act will strengthen critical security programs for synagogues and NonProfit Organizations while also improving how we address antisemitism online. The holiday of Passover — this year began at sundown on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 and ended on Sunday April 20th, 2025 — and its Seder nights are well known — and were observed throughout the great state of Florida with public Seders in almost every city and the distribution of Shmurah Matzah (the Rolls-Royce of matzah) — but the eighth and final day of Passover has its own focus: the utopian future of the Messianic era, when ‘nation shall not lift the sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.’ As the world reels from the devastating effects of conflict, Chabad rabbis throughout the state will lead their Jewish communities in celebrating the future era of peace. The last day of Passover ("Acharon Shel Pesach") is particularly associated with Moshiach and the future redemption. The Haftarah (reading from the Prophets) for this day is from Isaiah 11, which describes the promised future era of universal peace and divine perfection. Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov instituted the custom of partaking of a ‘Moshiach's meal’ on the afternoon of the last day of Passover; in addition to the matzah eaten at ‘Moshiach's meal,’ the Rebbes of Chabad added the custom of drinking four cups of wine, as in the seder held on Passover's first days. Local Chabad’s will cap off the day with Seudas Moshiach, a special holiday farewell meal. During this traditional and mystical feast scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, April 20th, 2025, community members focused on bringing the Messianic message of harmony into their own lives.
