Sweethearts In Search Of Home: Sadie And Bubbles Are Ready For Their Next Chapter South Florida Sun Times Sep 3, 2025 At the Humane Society of Broward County, two very different but equally lovable animals are waiting patiently for their second chance. One is a quirky, shepherd-looking pup with a heart full of loyalty. The other, a spunky little tuxedo kitten with a playful streak. While they may come from different backgrounds and have their own unique personalities, Sadie and Bubbles share one important thing in common: both are ready to fill a forever home with joy, fun, and unconditional love. Sadie: The Short-Legged Sweetheart Sadie may not fit neatly into any one breed category - she resembles a shepherd, but her short legs add a unique twist. What she may lack in pedigree, she more than makes up for in personality. At three years old, Sadie has already worn a few hats in life, including that of a loving mama dog. She arrived at the shelter after being transferred from another facility, and while her past remains a bit of a mystery, her future is looking bright and her heart is full of love. For a brief time, Sadie found herself in a home with an older gentleman who was charmed by her gentle spirit and eager to give her a chance. Although it turned out that Sadie’s energy level and playful nature were a little more than he had expected, their time together revealed a lot about what makes this dog so special. She’s house-trained, sleeps peacefully through the night, and adores her morning and evening walks. Her love of toys, intelligence, and affectionate nature make her a joy to be around. Sadie also gets along well with other dogs and thrives in a loving, active environment. What she needs now is a family who’s ready to embrace her lively spirit—one that will take her on daily adventures, toss around her favorite toys, and provide the affection she so willingly gives. Whether it’s hiking trails or cozying up for a movie night, Sadie is the kind of dog who will be by your side through it all. Bubbles: A Kitten with Big Personality Then there’s Bubbles, a four-month-old tuxedo kitten with energy to spare and a lot of love to give. When Bubbles first arrived at the shelter, he wasn’t in the best condition. A rough start and skin issues left him in need of some serious TLC, but thanks to the dedicated care of the Humane Society’s clinic staff, Bubbles is now healthy, thriving, and more adorable than ever. His black and white fur gives him the appearance of a well-dressed gentleman, but don’t let the tuxedo fool you—Bubbles is all about fun. He’s curious, playful, and endlessly entertaining. He’s also the last of his litter to be adopted, having watched his brothers and sisters find their forever homes one by one. Kittens like Bubbles do best when they have a playmate, which is why adopting two kittens can be a great option. Whether you already have a cat at home or are open to welcoming another kitten alongside Bubbles, he’s sure to bring joy, laughter, and lots of antics to your household. How to Adopt Both Sadie and Bubbles are available for adoption at the Humane Society of Broward County, located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312. If either of these sweethearts has captured your heart—or if you’re simply looking to add a new furry friend to your family—the first step is to complete a pre-adoption application online at: https://www.humanebroward.com The shelter's adoption kennels are open daily starting at 11:00 a.m., giving you ample opportunity to meet Sadie, Bubbles, and many other pets hoping for a home. For questions, you can call: (954) 989-3977 and speak with a knowledgeable staff member. Whether you’re a dog lover seeking a loyal companion or a cat enthusiast looking for a playful sidekick, Sadie and Bubbles are shining examples of the love and companionship that shelter pets have to offer. Their next chapter is just waiting to be written—could it start with you? Sadie - ID#: 701219 Previous Next

- Time To Meet Your New Food & Drink Obsession - Officially Introducing Madame Olivia, North Miami's Delicious And Chic French-Mediterranean Cafe Bistro Bakery | sun-times
Time To Meet Your New Food & Drink Obsession - Officially Introducing Madame Olivia, North Miami's Delicious And Chic French-Mediterranean Cafe Bistro Bakery South Florida Sun Times Jan 21, 2026 The saying goes that “good things come to those who wait.” When it comes to Madame Olivia in North Miami, which quietly opened its doors in Summer 2025, the wait to experience it in all its glory is finally over. Some background for context: from its first day and in a much simpler incarnation and through good, old fashioned word-of-mouth the comfortably chic cafe, bistro and market at 1821 Northeast 123rd Street, North Miami, Florida 33181 has captured hearts and tastebuds by virtue of its unique blend of classic French craftsmanship, fresh basked goodness, scratch-kitchen approach to Mediterranean cuisine, and consciously healthy philosophy. Now, with the arrival of 2026, Madame Olivia is in full bloom, offering deliciousness and gracious hospitality all day long and featuring a newly-installed, glass-enclosed bakery station; the heart of the concept and from where all its baked goods rise to greatness. Offering all-day breakfast, gourmet sandwiches, soups and salads, expertly crafted coffee drinks, fresh juices, and a wide selection of Mediterranean plates and pastas, Madame Olivia is anchored by its in-house bakery. Each day, Executive Chef and Co-Owner Stephen Laurent leads the production of freshly baked breads, pastries, and desserts made from scratch. Love, care, technique and a dedication to freshness and health is built into everything, including the coffee, which Madame Olivia imports from Costa Rica and Brazil and roasts in Miami every two weeks. Madame Olivia is also proudly seed oil-free and focuses on organic ingredients as much as the market allows, be it meat, vegetables, fruits and eggs. After a year of building a loyal local following, Madame Olivia is now formally introducing itself to the broader South Florida dining community, alongside the announcement of a second location slated to open in Midtown Miami in 2026. “Our goal with Madame Olivia was always to create a place that feels like a home away from home. Where a morning coffee can turn into a long conversation, and a lunch can feel as nourishing as it is delicious,” said Co-Owner Oren Cohen. “After serving the North Miami community with passion and care, we’re thrilled to bring the same spirit to Midtown Miami in 2026.” The name, inspired by Co-Owner Oren Cohen’s daughter, Olivia, reflects the personal and welcoming spirit at the heart of Madame Olivia. From the open kitchen to the curated details throughout the cafe-bistro, every element reflects the brand’s focus on care, quality, and connection. At the heart of Madame Olivia’s kitchen is Executive Chef Stephen Laurent, a French baker and restaurateur with more than three decades of global experience in the culinary world. Before coming to Miami, Chef Laurent led and founded acclaimed bakery‑cafes abroad including the well‑known Bread Etc. in Shanghai where his blend of Mediterranean simplicity and French precision earned local attention, including a feature on an Israeli version of Chef’s Table. His decades of hands-on baking and kitchen leadership shape every dish at Madame Olivia, from morning pastries to seasonal Mediterranean plates. Guests can enjoy a thoughtfully curated menu that blends breakfast, lunch, and Mediterranean-inspired offerings. An array of signature pastries like flaky, Coffee Cream Croissant ($6.50) Halvah & Chocolate Danish ($8.50), Cinnamon Cruffin ($6), Shashuka Croissant ($9), and Strawberry Maritozzo ($9) are available as well as freshly baked loaves such as Challah Bread ($8.50), Walnut & Raisins Sourdough ($10.50), French Country Bread ($9.50) and more. For desserts, the cafe’s signature Basque cheesecake ($9.50 slice/$65 whole), is rich and caramelized to perfection. While dishes such as the Shakshuka ($19) — poached eggs in a spiced tomato and pepper sauce served with warm bread — the Tartines Avocado Toast ($14), topped with a poached egg, garden greens, radish, chili flakes and parmesan cheese; and Challah French Toast ($16) are perfect for breakfast. An array of sandwiches and salads are ideal for lunch and guests can indulge in anything from the Short Ribs Hallah Sandwich ($19.50) and Mediterranean Hamburger ($20.50) to the Brussels Sprouts & Artichoke Hearts Salad ($17.50) and Quinoa & Feta Salad ($17.50). The interior of Madame Olivia extends the same thoughtful care into its design. - Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary | sun-times
Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary South Florida Sun Times Jun 25, 2026 Computer Biology Labs, Inc. To Debut "The Washington Experience," A First-Of-Its-Kind Interactive Ai Educational Chat With America's Founding Father George Washington Chats with local leader Ivy Stranahan also featured in free innovative learning initiative, part of The America's Founders Project, a gateway global launch event for Constant Life AI Fort Lauderdale, Florida (June 22nd, 2026) – For the first time in history, anyone can hold a conversation with leaders, public figures and innovators from the past! In celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Computer Biology Labs, Inc. will debut “The Washington Experience,”* a free, in-person interactive AI chat demonstration based on the life and historical records of America’s founding father George Washington, at History Fort Lauderdale, located at 231 Southwest Second Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312 on Sunday, June 28th, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Included in this milestone launch will be chat opportunities with Fort Lauderdale’s own first founding mother and schoolteacher, Ivy Stranahan. Guests are invited to ‘ask’ these important figures questions and learn how the AI-generated historical interpretation works. The national launch of “The Washington Experience” is part of The America's Founders Project presented by Constant Life AI, an educational initiative created to help people engage with the individuals who shaped the United States, through conversational experiences built from historical records, writings, speeches, letters, and publicly available source materials. “This is our gift to America on its 250th Birthday,” said Scott Coloney, Founder of Computer Biology Labs, Inc. “Every child should have the thrill of using artificial intelligence to explore this country’s founding, engage with the nuanced and complicated parts of that story, and learn timeliness and extraordinary leadership lessons from the man who helped win American Independence. We hope this experience will encourage further questions and learning no matter the platform, not just around the Fourth of July, but year-round.” Using Library of Congress archives for historically accurate responses, “The Washington Experience” is designed to help families, students, and historians explore his life, military leadership, presidency, and role in the founding of the United States. It covers the Revolutionary War, the founding of the United States, his presidency until 1797, the Constitution, civic leadership, and Washington’s legacy, which mirrors the contradictions of the era, including slavery and the limits placed on liberty and citizenship. Unlike a general-purpose chatbot asked to imitate George Washington, this educational experience is grounded in curated historical records and limited to the knowledge, letters, and events of Washington’s lifetime. It is designed for historically informed learning—not open-ended role-play. As an added bonus, guests will also have the chance to “chat” with Fort Lauderdale’s first schoolteacher, Ivy Stranahan, in History Fort Lauderdale’s 1899 Schoolhouse Museum, in her own voice pulled from actual recordings and facts on file. A humanitarian and leader, Stranahan served as an outspoken advocate and educator for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, was Founder of the Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club and served as the first president of the Women’s Suffrage Association of Florida and later founded the local Audubon Society. She is credited with founding the first Broward Red Cross Chapter in 1918 and was treasurer for Provident Hospital which served the Black community before Broward General was integrated. She was also a Founder of the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society in 1962, among many other great achievements. “History Fort Lauderdale is thrilled to host ‘The Washington Experience’ and ‘The Ivy Stranahan Experience,’ Computer Biology Labs’ inaugural contributions to commemorating and celebrating our great nation and our local leaders,” said Patricia Zeiler, Executive Director of History Fort Lauderdale. “As proud stewards of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, we invite guests to join us for this milestone launch honoring the contributions of all Americans and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.” This special America 250 launch event will also feature children’s activities including a bounce house, arts and crafts, face painting, a lemonade stand and popcorn. After its debut, “The Washington Experience” will be available anytime and free of charge online at constantlife.ai while “The Ivy Stranahan Experience” will remain on campus at History Fort Lauderdale. Additional local historical figure “chat” experiences are planned for the landmark attraction. History Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of engaging multicultural experiences throughout the year. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent displays including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: The Story of Boatbuilding Along the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” “The Growth and History of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” and “Take PRIDE, a Retrospective on LGBTQ Life in South Florida.” History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request.
