Broadway Blockbusters, Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Honorees and music from every genre light up the stages at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts the second half of this month.
The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and AEG Presents bring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Blondie to the Au-Rene Theater on Thursday, March 16th, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. Co-founded by Singer Debbie Harry and Guitarist Chris Stein, the band was a pioneer in the American new wave scene of the mid-1970’s and regarded as an underground band in the U.S. until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next five years, the band achieved several Hit Singles including "Heart of Glass," "Call Me," "Atomic," "The Tide Is High" and "Rapture." Blondie has sold around 40 million records worldwide and is noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles that incorporate elements of Disco, Pop, Reggae and Early Rap Music. Martin Sexton performs in the intimate Abdo New River Room on Thursday, March 16th, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. Headlining venues from The Fillmore to Carnegie Hall, he has influenced a generation of contemporary artists and his songs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs, Parenthood and Masters of Sex as well as in numerous films. Called by Billboard as “The real thing, people,” Martin keeps fans coming back for more with his incendiary live show, honest lyrics and vocal prowess. Sexton is joined by Special Guest Matt MacKelcan, a Singer-Songwriter who has emerged from the southeast with a genuine combination of American Soul and Folk Rock. Enjoy an Evening with Rick Wakeman in “His Music and Stories” in the Amaturo Theater on Friday, March 17th, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. The keyboard wizard of YES will combine spellbinding piano music with side splitting jokes and revealing insights into his career.
