Diamonds & Dreams: The Humane Society Of Broward Has Many Programs To Adopt

July 20, 2023

Looking for a GREAT family dog? If so, check out Spencer. After having a home for 7 years, this fellow was given up because his family no longer had time for him. Spencer is an amazing 78-pound Rottweiler Mix who adores being with people of ALL ages. He is potty-trained, loves to run and play and loves to meet new people. His profile says, “he communicates well and he likes company while he is eating his meals.” Oh and he is good with other dogs.

There are so many beautiful kittens to choose from this week at the shelter including little Fudge (669134). This sweetheart is just 9 weeks old and 2 1/2 pounds, so she has a lot of growing to do. Her coat is a beautiful tortoiseshell coloring – with swirls of orange and black and her sisters Skittles and Tiny Pie are just as cute.

Adoption Specials
Diamond in the Ruff: Since 2016, longtime Humane Society of Broward County supporter J.R. Dunn Jewelers has been helping to create true love – by sponsoring pet adoptions so that more dogs and cats can find happy homes.

The program is called “Diamond in the Ruff” and who knows diamonds better than J.R. Dunn? J.R. Dunn features a pet each week – yes, 52 pets every year – and underwrites the entire adoption fee for that dog, puppy, cat or kitten. “Diamond in the Ruff” is promoted through J.R. Dunn’s Local Radio Spots and Social Media and the HSBC will do its share of promotion as well. What a fabulous way to put their money where their heart is and to bring attention to all the amazing dogs and cats that are so ready to be loved. Furry little diamonds in the rough – just waiting for their “perfect setting!”

Be sure to visit J.R. Dunn’s Facebook Page each week to see who the featured pet is and you might just find your next family member. Of course to meet the pet, contact the Humane Society of Broward County at: (954) 989-3977 Extension#: 6.

Dolly’s Dream: In the Winter 2016 Paw Prints we introduced Dolly’s Dream Project funded by the Levitetz Family Foundation. The project covers the cost for Spay/Neuter Surgery for American Staffordshire Terriers and Mixes and helps with Surrender Prevention.

Dolly’s Dream has expanded and now they are underwriting the adoption fee of select Bully Breed Dogs. In addition to underwriting the fee, they will cover the costs for the basic items that the dog will need to succeed in their new home. This includes a Training Crate, Sensation Harness or No-Pull Harness, Chew Toys, Collar, ID Tag, Leash, Training Treat Bag and basic dishes. If necessary, they will also cover the cost of Obedience Classes here at the Humane Society of Broward County.

Baloo ID 668749
I’m a happy fellow whose past is a mystery since I arrived at the shelter as a stray and my family has not come looking for me. My name is Baloo and I’m just over a year old. During my recent photo shoot for this cute picture, I showed off what I know. I will sit, give paw and even give you the other one if you ask. I might talk to you, so you’ll throw a ball for me to chase after. It is unknown how I am with other dogs or cats, but we can do a meet and greet if you have another dog at home. I will admit I pull on the leash, but that’s just because I’m excited to go somewhere.

Cassie ID 629208
I was adopted a few years ago by a wonderful man and we had so many great times together. Sadly, he passed away and now I’m back at the shelter hoping another wonderful family will adopt me. When he was sick, I didn’t leave his side and often slept in bed with him. My name is Cassie and I’m a six-year-old gal who is loyal, good with kids ages 7 and up and I’m very friendly. While I have never lived with felines, I’m going to do best in a home where I’m the only dog. I enjoy belly rubs and being where you are. One thing you should know, I’m not a fan of loud noises, so no heavy metal music for me.

To meet a pet, complete the Pre-Adoption Application at: www.humanebroward.com and then stop by. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312 and the Adoption Kennels open daily at 11:00 a.m. If you have questions, call: (954) 989-3977 Extension#: 6. And if you can’t adopt, please tell all your friends about all the wonderful pets waiting for a second chance.
