A Fabulous February Ahead

Sing along to classic hits and songs in February as artists pay tribute to the soundtracks of our lives with musical performances that will leave you dancing in the aisles.

On the 10th, Tony® Award-Winner and Five-Time Tony® Award Nominee Laura Benanti is a highly celebrated stage and screen actress coming to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Friday.

Ms. Benanti has an impressive television roster including Hulu’s LIFE & BETH, created by and starring Amy Schumer, the hit series YOUNGER, HBO Max’s GOSSIP GIRL Reboot and the upcoming second season of HBO Max’s THE GILDED AGE. Other television credits include guest starring roles on CINEMA TOAST, created by Jeff Baena and produced by the Duplass Brothers, ZIWE featuring Comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, both for Showtime, as well as INSIDE AMY SCHUMER on Paramount+ (among many others. Benanti has also made widely acclaimed appearances on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT as Melania Trump. Additionally, Benanti created and executive produced the HBO Max Special HOMESCHOOL MUSICAL: CLASS OF 2020 based on her viral social media movement: #sunshinesongs.

In the theater, Ms. Benanti took Broadway by storm at the age of 18 as Maria in THE SOUND OF MUSIC and has subsequently starred in ten more Broadway shows (musicals, straight plays, comedies and dramas) including INTO THE WOODS, NINE (opposite Antonio Banderas), GYPSY (for which she won a Tony Award), SHE LOVES ME, MY FAIR LADY and Steve Martin’s METEOR SHOWER opposite Amy Schumer and Keegan Michael Key.

Additionally, Benanti Co-Authored a comedic board book for mother entitled M is for MAMA (and also Merlot): A Modern Mom’s ABCs, Co-Written with Metropolitan Opera Star Kate Mangiamelli. She released a self-titled audio album for Sony Music Masterworks and tours the world performing solo concerts alongside highly celebrated musicians and orchestras.

Ms. Benanti is currently filming the Sony Pictures comedy NO HARD FEELINGS opposite Jennifer Lawrence and Matthew Broderick, as well as THE SHADE based on the award-winning short of the same name. The next performance is Wednesday February 10th, 2023 at 8:00 p.m.

History, Heritage, Tradition...L’Chaim!
From the stages of the Lower East Side to the bright lights of Broadway, L’Chaim: A Toast To The Jewish Legacy Of Broadway is a musical journey that pays tribute to the Jewish legacy of musical theater by exploring and celebrating the unique role of Jewish composers and lyricists from Irving Berlin to the Gershwins, Kander & Ebb, Bock & Harnick, to Stephen Schwartz and Stephen Sondheim. Rooted in history, heritage and tradition, four Jewish performers along with a live band bring to life the most iconic songs from the stage of past and present and the historical stories that go with them. The next performance is Wednesday February 15th, 2023 at 8:00 p.m.

A Tribute To Louis Armstrong
A Tribute To Louis Armstrong will have you rubbing your eyes in disbelief as Louis Armstrong comes back to life performing all his hits with his jazz band "IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD." This show is as authentic as you can get and only comes to the states every few years. Performing hits like "Hello Dolly," "Blueberry Hill," "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Dream a Little Dream Of Me," "Jeepers Creepers," "Ain't Misbehaving," "What a Wonderful World" and many more!

Hailing from Germany Troy Anderson and his band truly reincarnate this era that has long passed and definitely a show that can't be missed. The next performance is Wednesday February 17th, 2023 at 8:00 p.m.

The Tortoise And The Hare - Next Generation
They begin with Aesop’s Classic Fable of The Tortoise And The Hare but continue the story which finds them 10 years down the road, now with children of their own and exploring modern day distractions. Smart phones and video games create a new landscape of lost connections to life experiences. The Next Generation features Tortoise Junior and Lil’ Hare in a whole new kind of race; where their adventures lead them into unexpected territory. Old man Tortoise and Big Daddy Hare must come together despite their differences to find and save their children. What hurdles will they have to overcome to make it to the finish line?

With dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling and the creative use of music from classical to pop, this production brings this tale into a new brilliant light.

Lap Tickets are available for purchase for children 12 months and under and only available at the Box Office. Everyone in the theater must have a ticket. The next performance is Sunday February 19th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
