
"A Stitch In Time" Sunday Quilt Shows - Free Showcase Of Textile Arts Enhances Downtown Fort Lauderdale's Riverwalk

History Fort Lauderdale, Proud Steward Of Our Community’s Past By Making Our Heritage Accessible And Engaging To Residents And Visitors, Will Present “A Stitch in Time,” A Vibrant Series Of Quilt Shows In Collaboration With Local Textile Guilds. This Free Public Exhibition Series, Launching With The Sunday, September 7th Collaboration With The Southern Star Quilt Guild, Will Celebrate The Artistry And Tradition Of Quilting, Bringing Colorful Stories To Life Through Fabric And Craftsmanship.
Quilt lovers and curious visitors alike are invited to enjoy these one-day-only pop-up displays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., coinciding with the City’s Riverwalk Jazz Brunch series. Quilts will be on display draped over the second-story balcony and showcased inside the New River Inn Museum, offering visitors a rich blend of craftsmanship and history.
“We’re delighted to showcase the colorful, vibrant textile art from our talented South Florida artists beginning with the Southern Star sewmasters,” said Patricia Zeiler, Executive Director of History Fort Lauderdale. “This ancient art truly unites the community through its modern visual narratives woven with passion, preservation and family history. We invite guests to enjoy a day of exploration and music with us amidst the shaded palms and beautiful waterfront views on the Riverwalk.”
Additional shows are scheduled for Sunday, October 5th, 2025 and Sunday, March 8th, 2026, with collaborators to be announced.
History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under.
