Work & Play Hollywood: The City Has Grant Funding And ArtWalk In Focus

The City of Hollywood is accepting Applications from Non-Profit Organizations for the Fiscal Year 2025 for both the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the General Fund Social Service Agency Grant Program to provide Public Services. The City will collect and review the Agency Applications and make funding recommendations to the City Commission. Programs must demonstrate a significant benefit to Hollywood Residents.

CDBG Program
The CDBG Program grants Fund Programs and Services in the following areas:

Education: Assistance to Low-To-Moderate Income (LMI) children to improve academic performance.

Workforce Development: Assistance to Low-To-Moderate Income (LMI) persons for Job Training and Job Placement with special emphasis on Healthcare and Related Industries, Retail Trade, Manufacturing and Tourism Related Industries.

Other: Public Services that benefit Low and Moderate Income (LMI) Residents of Hollywood.

Social Service Agency Grants
Hollywood’s Social Service Agency Grants Fund Creative and Innovative Projects and Programs that serve the community in the following focus areas:

• Early Childhood Education
• STEAM-Focused Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics)
• Health, Wellness, or Nutrition
• Shelter and Housing
• Respite Care and Elder Services
• Diversity and Cultural Outreach
• Training and Career Planning and Development
• Veteran Services

Applications for Social Services Agency Grants open on January 25th. All Completed Applications and Related Back-Up Information must be received by the City Manager’s Office no later than 3:00 p.m. on February 22nd, 2024. Downtown Hollywood ArtWalk
Do some shopping, grab a bite to eat, or pop into an art gallery while enjoying art, cultural entertainment, live music and the murals at the Downtown Hollywood ArtWalk from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. A FREE Guided Mural Tour begins at 6 p.m. at the Visitor Center Information Booth at the corner of 20th Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Learn the stories behind the art and artists! The Downtown Hollywood Artisan Market at ArtWalk on Harrison Street between 20th and 21st Avenues, features pop-up shops, artist showcases, handmade items, local purveyors, vintage shopping and fun!

It's not only Art! You will have the chance to visit restaurants, galleries, and shops, while enjoying art, music, murals, outdoor markets, and more!

Make some plans with friends this Saturday, January 20th. Here is the schedule of the festivities:

Artisan Market, 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.: Featuring pop-up shops, artist showcases, handmade items, local purveyors, vintage shopping, boutique goods and FUN! Located on Harrison Street between 20th & 21st Avenues. Vendor applications are available at: www.artwalk.market/vendorapp - And for vending participation questions visit: vend@atlanticstudios.com

Live Music, 6:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.: Live performances will be held on the main stage at Harrison Street at 21st Avenue. At 6:00 p.m.: DJ Tony Tiru will play the hits and at 8pm there will be a surprise guest performance.

Mural Tour, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: This guided tour lets you learn the stories behind the art and artists of the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project. Meet at the Information Tent at 20th Avenue & Harrison Street.

Gallery Tour, 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. & 9:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.: Join Evan Snow of Choose954 for a guided and curated ArtWalk experience. Get an opportunity to meet with the local artists of each gallery in Downtown Hollywood. Meet at the Information Tent at 20th Avenue & Harrison Street.

Magic Show, 10:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.: For the kid inside you make sure to stop by for the magic show!

Parking
Downtown Hollywood offers On-Street Metered Parking for $1.50 Per Hour, as well as Municipal Garage Parking for $1 Per Hour. Municipal Garage Location: 251 South 20th Avenue (between Harrison Street and Van Buren Street). Valet Parking is available for a $10 Flat Rate Thursday - Sunday, 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m., and is conveniently located in front of 1925 Hollywood Blvd and 1932 Hollywood Boulevard.
