Operation Paintbrush, Gun Buyback & Ribbon Cuttings: There Is A Lot To Celebrate In Hollywood This Month

The City of Hollywood Department of Public Works is holding Operation Paintbrush on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Noon. The Operation Paintbrush Program provides up to 20 gallons of High-Quality Exterior Latex Paint for FREE to Single-Family Homeowners and Non-Profit Organizations in Hollywood. 100% of the Latex Paint collected through the Broward County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program is recycled into new, High-Quality Exterior Paint which is then provided to participating cities at no cost (while supplies last).

Paint can be picked up at the Department of Public Works, located at 1600 South Park Road, Hollywood, Florida 33021 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis, while the supply lasts. To participate, you must provide your current Driver’s License with Hollywood address and a current Utility Bill as Proof of Hollywood Residency. The Paint colors offered are: Off-White, Beige, Terracotta, Gray, and Turquoise.

Gun Buyback Event
The Hollywood Police Department is hosting a Gun Buyback Event this Saturday, June 24th, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Police Department at 3250 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33021.

• Up to $100 for Shotguns & Antique Firearms
• $150 for Handguns & Rifles
• Up to $250 for Semi-Automatic Rifles

Funds will be distributed in Publix Gift Cards. Guns must be unloaded. Leave the gun in the trunk of the vehicle for removal. No other weapons or ammunition will be accepted. No questions asked. No ID required. This event is in partnership with Crime Stoppers.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Hollywood Boulevard Complete Streets Improvement Project
Join us to celebrate the completion of the project which includes Multi-Modal Transportation and Parking options, Pedestrian-Friendly Walkways and Enhanced Landscaping and Curb Appeal on Hollywood Boulevard from City Hall Circle to Dixie Highway. The Hollywood Boulevard Complete Streets Improvement Project Ribbon cutting will be held on the East side of Hollywood City Hall Circle at 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33021 on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

Kicking-Off Ceremony Dowdy Community Center
Join us for a "Kicking-Off" Ceremony to mark the start of renovations to the Former Armory Building. The building will be transformed into the new Dowdy Community Center using voter-approved General Obligation Bond funds. Come and learn more about the exciting renovations planned. The Kicking-Off Ceremony will be held Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at the Dowdy Community Center 2161 Johnson Street, Hollywood, Florida 33020.
