City Of Aventura Hosts Community Bike Event

August 22, 2024

On Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, the City of Aventura, in partnership with the Aventura Police Department, will host its Annual "Share The Road" Event, aimed at promoting safe cycling practices and fostering community engagement. The event, which kicks off at 9:00 a.m., will be held at Founders Park, located at 3105 Northeast 190th Street, Aventura, Florida 33180 and promises to be an informative and fun-filled day for cyclists of all ages.

The “Share The Road” Event is designed to enhance awareness around bicycle safety and encourage responsible riding habits. The morning will feature a series of engaging bike safety presentations, where participants can learn vital tips on how to stay safe on the road. In addition to educational sessions, attendees will be able to enter to win prizes and speak with representatives of the City’s bike share program, Aventura B-Cycle. The City of Aventura wants to ensure that riders are equipped with essential gear for a safe and enjoyable ride.

A key highlight of the event will be the opportunity for participants to interact directly with members of the Aventura Police Department. The officers will be available to answer questions about bike safety and provide guidance on best practices for navigating city streets. This direct engagement aims to foster a better understanding of the rules of the road and the importance of mutual respect between cyclists and motorists.

In addition to helmet fittings and safety advice, attendees will have access to demonstrations on basic bike maintenance. Knowing how to perform simple repairs and adjustments can significantly enhance a cyclist's safety and enjoyment. Representatives from the City’s bike share program, Aventura B-Cycle, will give detailed information about their services, which offer an eco-friendly and convenient option for local transportation.

The event will also feature a community bike ride, which will commence at 10:00 a.m., following the safety presentations. This leisurely ride, escorted by members of the Aventura Police Department, will take participants on a scenic tour around the city, showcasing the best of Aventura’s bike-friendly routes. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and are reminded that the ride is suitable for all ages, provided they are capable of safely riding a bike on the road.

“The ‘Share The Road’ Event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate safe cycling,” said Aventura Police Chief, Michelle Harris. “We’re excited to engage with residents, provide valuable safety information, and enjoy a pleasant ride through our city.”

The event underscores the City of Aventura’s commitment to promoting safe cycling practices and fostering a supportive environment for all road users. By combining educational presentations, interactive sessions, and a community ride, the city aims to create a culture of safety and respect on the roads.

For those interested in participating, there is no need for advance registration. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of the opportunity and to ensure they have ample time to engage with the various safety presentations.

The “Share The Road” event promises to be an enriching experience for all involved, providing valuable safety knowledge, an enjoyable community activity, and an opportunity to connect with fellow cyclists and city officials. As the event approaches, excitement is building within the community, and participants are looking forward to a day dedicated to promoting safe and responsible cycling.

With the support of local law enforcement, city officials, and community members, the event is set to make a significant impact and reinforce Aventura’s dedication to creating a safer, more connected community.
