A Sizzling Summer: At The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center

June 30, 2022

Relive the thrill of seeing show business legends and get a glimpse of tomorrow’s stars in the making this summer at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.

Talented summer campers from Miami-based LCA Performing Arts take the stage in Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids on Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. Based on the classic animated film, Disney's 101 Dalmatians KIDS is a fur-raising adventure featuring Cruella De Vil, Disney's most outrageous villain, and 101 of the most adorable heroes to set their paws onstage. With a high-spirited score and lovable characters, this stage adaptation is certain to charm and delight all audiences. Pet owners, Roger and Anita, live happily in London with their Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. When the monstrous Cruella De Vil and her bumbling henchmen plot to steal the puppies for her new fur coat, the Dalmatians rally all the dogs of London for a daring rescue. Tickets are $20-$35.

Ivan Rutherford, whose acclaimed Broadway career includes thousands of performances playing Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, directs LCA Performing Arts summer camp students in Les Misérables School Edition on Sunday, August 7 at 3 p.m. The multi-award-winning Les Misérables is as groundbreaking today as it was when it first premiered in London in 1985 with one of the most memorable scores of all time. Featuring updated orchestrations based on the Tony-nominated 2014 Broadway revival, Les Misérables School Edition delivers Victor Hugo’s classic tale. In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by a police inspector. Tickets are $20-$39.

South Florida Legends presents The Ed Sullivan Variety Show on Saturday, August 13 at 3 and 8 p.m. As that legendary TV host might have said, this concert is “a really, big show,” featuring tributes to Buddy Holly, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. An award winning cast that has performed all over the globe recreates all the hits of these iconic legends in a show for the ages. $49 and $59.
