A Musical Spring: Music & Culture Have Been A Part of Hollywood Since It's Founding

March 24, 2022

The Hollywood Beach Bandshell has a long history in Hollywood. Joseph W. Young (Hollywoods founder) built the Broadwalk's first bandshell in 1924 to provide entertainment for visitors, that wooden bandstand, called "Theater under the Stars," was destroyed in the hurricane of 1926. The current bandshell appears to have been built in the 1970s and recently redeveloped as part of the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort.

The Hollywood Beach Bandshell that’s located on the Boardwalk just outside of the resort, offers free live entertainment continuing the tradition of entertaining visitors and locals to this day, it features live musical entertainment five nights a week (Wednesday - Sunday) from 7 to 9 p.m. This gem directly on Hollywood Beach (200 Johnson St, Hollywood) features local acts from throughout South Florida, the bandshell and resort is home to over 30 live bands. Resort guests and locals alike can enjoy a variety of music including rock, country, Top 40, reggae, latin and much more!
