Asian American And Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month At Morkiami Museum And Japanese Gardens

The zen oasis will showcase a plethora of adult and family-friendly programming, as well as two new art exhibits including the ghost-centric “Yokai: Scenes of the Supernatural in Japanese Woodblock Prints” and “Courage and Compassion: Our Shared Story of the Japanese American World War II Experience,” which reveals powerful portraits of Americans during and after World War II.

Throughout May, the museum is rolling out a list of cultural endeavors, from introspective garden walks to after-hours revelry and taiko drumming at Sunset Stroll on Thursday, May 21st, 2026. Ocha (green tea) lovers will enjoy The Way of Tea: Sado Demonstration on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, which showcases a luxurious tea ceremony from start to sip. On Mother’s Day, treat haha ("mom" in Japanese) to lunch at the Cornell Cafe. The museum's Pan-Asian restaurant will showcase slow-roasted duck ($29), yuzu mimosas ($10), and fluffy pancake bites ($8) along with breathtaking views of Morikami Lake and tranquil gardens.
