The Parker Kicks Off the New Year: With An Eclectic Mix of Musical Performances

The New Year welcomes the return of Seth Rudetsky's Broadway Concert Series presented by Mark Cortale as Seth dishes the dirt and raises the roof with Tony® Award winner Stephanie J. Block on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. Block received the 2019 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her starring role in The Cher Show and received nominations for Broadway’s highest honor for her performances in the New York Revival of Falsettos and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. She has also appeared on Broadway in Anything Goes, 9 to 5: The Musical, Wicked, The Pirate Queen and The Boy from OZ. In addition to her appearances off-Broadway and in regional theater, Block has been seen on the Television Series Bluff City Law, Rise, Madame Secretary, Orange Is The New Black, Homeland and It Could Be Worse. As the afternoon host on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s On Broadway channel as well as the host of Seth Speaks on Sirius/XM Stars and the author of a weekly column for Playbill.com, Rudetsky’s name is synonymous with Broadway. Elvis is in the house at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 with Elvis’ Birthday Bash starring Chris McDonald in celebration of Presley’s 87th birthday. Chris MacDonald draws audiences in with the look, sounds and nuances that made Elvis the King in a heartfelt tribute to the music and memories of the legendary performer. Gone but never forgotten, Elvis' music, films and memories live on as a testament to his true effect and influence on his generation and future generations to come. As a legendary music idol who influenced the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and anyone that has ever picked up a guitar or a microphone since, Presley's catalog of music continues to engage our love affair with his all-American story of a shy, poor and humble country boy that became the King of Rock-n-Roll. This newly updated production includes costume changes, songs and video clips telling the story of the different stages of Elvis’s incredible career including the 1950s, the movies, the 1968 comeback and the 1970′s White Fringe Vegas Concerts. Internationally recognized as a virtuoso of the highest order, prolific composer and prodigious six-string talent Al Di Meola takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 9th, 2022. The show is presented by The Broward Center For Performing Arts and AEG Presents. With more than 20 albums to his credit, Di Meola’s dazzling technique on both acoustic and electric guitars has afforded him regal status among the hordes of fretboard aficionados who regularly come to his concerts and the depth of his writing along with the soulfulness and his inherent lyricism of his guitaristic expression have won him legions of fans worldwide beyond the guitar aficionado set. His most recent March 2020 release, "Across the Universe," is a retrospective of a nearly 50-year acclaimed career featuring his virtuosic arrangements and creative interpretations of 14 Beatles songs with lightning speed electric guitar orchestrations balanced with lavish acoustic arrangements. Presented by Broward Center and AEG Presents, comedian, filmmaker and musician Gus Johnson comes to The Parker at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022. Born Gustav Emil Johnson, he is best known for his sketch comedy on YouTube which he began in 2010 with his first video, "Ian's Song." Nominated in 2019 at the 11th Shorty Awards for Best YouTube Comedian, Johnson released two music albums, Lighting Rods and Leaky Roofs in 2015 and Champagne Seats in 2016. His first viral video "How To Get Free Food From Subway" garnered more than 2.4 million views. In 2017, he started a podcast with friend and fellow YouTuber Eddy Burback titled OK I'll Talk. The two later created a new show, The Gus & Eddy Podcast. Tickets are $37.50. Presented by Broward Center and AEG Presents, The Mavericks: En Español World stops at The Parker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 13th, 2022. Born of Cuban-American roots in Miami, the Grammy Award-Winning Country, Americana and Tejano-infused Rock & Roll Band celebrates more than 30 years of making magic with their unique blend of Post-Modern Country, Pop, Rock, Latin and Lounge Music. With six studio albums and 14 singles on Billboard Country Charts, the group is considered the "most interesting band in the world" and recently took home a Grammy Award for "Here Comes the Rain." Their latest album released in August 2020 En Español is a collection of their own Spanish language originals and classic Latin tracks from which they drew inspirations. Tickets are $33-$43.

Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs and a firm commitment to Social Activism. At 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 14th, 2022 her luminescent presence shines brightly at The Parker as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 55-album body of work and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century. The Grammy Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" from her landmark 1967 Album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall Of Fame. Collins's dreamy and sweetly intimate version of "Send in the Clowns," a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway Musical: A Little Night Music, won "Song of the Year" at the 1975 Grammy Awards. At 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 The Parker hosts the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame duo The Righteous Brothers. Now, Bill Medley joins forces with one of the most versatile vocalists in America, Bucky Heard, to bring The Righteous Brothers back to the stage, after they topped the charts for four decades. The Righteous Brothers concert experience features a string of their biggest #1 hits, including (the most played song in radio history) "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'," "Soul & Inspiration," "Unchained Melody," "Rock and Roll Heaven," Medley's Grammy-winning Dirty Dancing theme "The Time of My Life" and much more! Best known for his work as lead singer of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson comes to The Parker at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 17th, 2022 in his first-ever U.S. Spoken Word Tour. Presented by the Broward Center and Emporium Presents, An Evening with Bruce Dickinson is a unique opportunity to spend an up-close and personal evening with one of the world’s most captivating icons in an intimate environment. One of the world's most storied musicians, Dickinson spent decades delivering high-octane performances but he is also an accomplished pilot and airline captain, aviation entrepreneur, beer brewer, motivational speaker, film scriptwriter, twice published novelist and Sunday Times' best-selling author, radio presenter, TV actor, sports commentator, international fencer and more. The evening will be filled with an entertaining cornucopia of fascinating tales and derring-do exploits, all with the characteristically infectious enthusiasm and wry wit Dickinson is known for. In the Light of Led Zeppelin brings an exhilarating experience to The Parker at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022. From beginning to end, this musical journey includes the best of Zeppelin classics, the symphonic orchestrations of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant and some of the greatest of the solo work of both Plant and Page, all performed by a super group of six Grammy-nominated classically trained men and women. Musical Director and Lead Guitarist Antonio Bolet had the vision to create something new, give audiences what they wanted to hear, give them a new way to hear it and then give them something they had never heard before. The production is a musical interpretation, using masterful artistry with technical note placement carefully designed for the listener to feel the music and experience it as new. With music that transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California Rock and Dixie-Inflected Funk-Boogie comes to The Parker with Little Feat by Request with Jack Broadbent presented by the Broward Center and AEG Presents at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. Little Feat has led a storied life ever since they formed in 1969. As American as Apple Pie and Rock N’ Roll itself, Little Feat brings a hybrid sound that is truly their own with strains of Folk, Blues, Rockabilly, Country and Jazz. Tickets are $37.50-$87.50.

Two extraordinary artists came together for one memorable night at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26th, 2022 with Joss Stone and Corrnine Bailey Ray, presented by the Broward Center and AEG Presents. Stone rose to fame in 2003 with her Multi-Platinum Debut Album, The Soul Sessions, which catapulted her in the Top 5 on the U.K. Albums Chart as well as the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart. Throughout her career, Stone has sold 14 million albums worldwide and earned numerous awards and accolades, including two BRIT Awards and a Grammy Award. Rae studied classical violin until she acquired an electric guitar in her teens. Her career took off after working at a jazz club in college. Her debut album became number one making her the fourth female British act to achieve that. She was nominated for numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards and won two MOBO Awards. On Thursday, January 27th, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. Free Fallin: A Tribute to Tom Petty will feature the best hits of the incomparable Tom Petty, including the instruments and costumes that recreate the authentic experience of a Live Tom Petty Concert. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are one of the biggest chart toppers in Rock history, amassing dozens of hits and performing sold out shows for four decades. Now in its 15th year as a band, Free Fallin' has evolved into a complete and spectacular live music production. Tickets are $37.50-$52.50.

Known internationally as "The Ultimate-Feel-Good Show," The Choir Of Man offers indisputable joy for all ages that’s both a concert and a party with Pop, Classic Rock, Folk, Broadway and Pub Tunes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 28th, 2022. A multi-talented cast of nine men combine hair-raising harmonies, foot-stomping singalongs, world-class tap dance and poetic meditations on the power of community in this riotously enjoyable homage to that gathering place that’s been missed so much over the last year, a local pub. Grammy Award-Winning Robert Cray leads the Robert Cray Band in a performance at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29th, 2022. The Robert Cray Band has been bridging the lines between Blues, Soul and R&B for the past four decades and has more than 20 acclaimed albums. Five-Time Grammy Award Winner Cray is a Blues Hall Of Fame Inductee and has received the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award For Performance. Cray has created a sound that rises from American roots and arrives today both fresh and familiar. Tickets are $43-$63. The Broward Center Dance and Classical Series presents International Tango Superstar German Cornejo's Dance Troupe The Tango Fire Company Of Buenos Aires as it ignites on stage on Sunday, January 30th, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. This exhilarating show combines the rawness and sophistication of Tango to evoke the intoxicating passion of late night Buenos Aires. Playing to sold-out crowds around the world, Tango Fire encompasses and defines all that is Argentine Tango accompanied by the unforgettable music of the great Tango masters including Piazzolla, Pugliese and Gardel. Of a performance in London, The Telegraph reported “…this is one of the most stupendous and drop-dead-sexy displays of Tango – nay, of any type of dancing – that you are likely to see all year.” The Broward Center Dance and Classical Series is presented by PNC Private Bank.
