Decades Of Experience In Stewardship, Strategy And Operations - Barry University Names Ron Steiger as New Vice President for Business and Finance & Chief Financial Officer

Steiger comes to Barry University from Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where he spent nearly two decades helping guide the financial strategy and operations of one of the nation's largest public school districts. As Chief Financial Officer, he oversaw a $7.4 Billion budget and led work across finance, budgeting, treasury, procurement, risk management, grants, payroll and compliance.

At Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Steiger’s latest endeavors include helping lead major financial initiatives tied to long-term planning, public accountability and operational improvement. In addition, guiding budget development and forecasting, managing annual audit processes that resulted in clean opinions, strengthening treasury and investment operations, supporting credit rating upgrades and overseeing federal stimulus funding after the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Steiger previously served as Chief Budget Officer, Assistant Chief Budget Officer and Executive Director at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Earlier in his career, he held strategy and analytics roles with Leo Burnett and Arthur Andersen.

He earned a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
