Stunning Zimbabwean Stone Sculptures Brought To Life At Palm Beach Zoo

Majestic African Stone Sculptures Have Joined Palm Beach Zoo’s Wildlife This Holiday Season. From Now To Monday, January 5th, 2026, EnnYe Gallery And Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society Present A Composition Of African Animal Sculptures That Greet Guests On The Pathways And Under The Luminous Holiday Lights.

These unique pieces are carefully brought to life by the talented Zimbabwean artists of the Shona tribe. Generations of the tribe’s sculptors have passed down the tradition and teachings of this exclusive art form. We are grateful that for the second year in a row, EnnYe is working with the Palm Beach Zoo to showcase the talents of the Shona tribe.

"Our mission is to immortalize the ecosystem through stone and enriching lives through the power of art by sharing compelling works from a vibrant collective of Zimbabwean sculptors—celebrating both seasoned male and female artists and nurturing the next generation of emerging talent,” said Vini Mutsemi, EnnYe’s Director of Exhibitions.

From the southern parts of Africa to the southern parts of the United States, 20-25 spectacular sculptures will be displayed throughout the holiday season. Intricate stonework stands throughout the Zoo towering three to seven feet tall. The display of these sculptures allows the aligned values of both organizations to grow. As visitors see the spectacle of lights at Zoo Lights, they also have new sights to take in and share with others if they choose. And should a piece deeply resonate with a guest, these sculptures can be purchased through the organization’s team and their marketplace.

While this artwork is exclusive to the Shona tribe, there are opportunities to see live demonstrations thanks to this collaboration. A section of the zoo will become an open studio to see celebrated artist, Brighton Tendayi, creating scaled versions of wildlife. These inanimate creations have proven they can bring life to a child’s creative curiosities and enhance the family-friendly experience the Zoo offers. As guests observe Brighton’s unique talent, it becomes a talking point for children and their families. It opens the door to foreign art in a comfortable, exciting environment.

Ultimately the environment Brighton and the gallery help the Zoo create is one of inspiration, through both the animate and inanimate, to act on behalf of wildlife and the natural world. This partnership is a means to “celebrate the wonder of the sculptures while capturing and complementing the natural beauty of the Zoo,” according to the gallery. Both the Palm Beach Zoo and EnnYe seek to strengthen conservation efforts to allow future generations to see the wonders of wildlife like those of the African continent.
