- How To Protect Yourself From A Smartphone Scam | sun-times
How To Protect Yourself From A Smartphone Scam By Feature Impact Jul 24, 2026 The First Sign Is Unexpectedly Losing Access To Your Cell Phone. Soon After, When You Connect To Wi-Fi, The Gravity Of The Situation Sinks In: A Criminal Has Gained Access To Your Cell Phone Number And Is Trying To Siphon Money From Your Credit Cards And Bank Accounts. The scam is called SIM swapping, or SIM hijacking, and it's a concern for law enforcement in the United States and abroad as more than 5,000 people have reported SIM swapping scams to the FBI since 2022. Older adults, caregivers and families can benefit from understanding the warning signs of SIM swapping and taking simple security steps to prevent it from happening. How SIM swapping works A SIM card, or its digital version known as an eSIM, helps connect a phone number to a carrier network. In a SIM swapping scam, a criminal collects basic information about their victim, such as their name, birthdate and address, to try to move the victim's phone number to a SIM card or eSIM profile the criminal controls. Once complete, the scammer gains access to accounts you may be logged into on your phone, such as bank accounts or credit card apps, without touching your phone or being near you. How to protect yourself from SIM swapping scams Preparation is the best protection against SIM swapping. Cell phone users should use strong, unique passwords for each online account - password managers are a helpful tool in creating complex and randomized passwords. Use two-factor authentication where it's offered; this adds an extra layer of security when accessing sensitive accounts. Next, consumers should protect personal information they share online, whether on Social Media or in texts or emails asking for identifying data, such as PIN numbers, birthdates or one-time security codes. Be wary of anyone pushing you to share personal information, particularly if they're pushy with their request or make it sound urgent. Check your mobile carrier to see if it offers SIM protection. For example, Verizon customers can toggle on a protection feature on the carrier's website or app to lock lines on their account to help prevent SIM changes. If you get an unprompted notification that your SIM has been changed, or otherwise suspect you've been targeted in a SIM swapping scam, contact your banks immediately and have them freeze your accounts, including ones the criminals may not have targeted yet. Next, work with your cell phone provider to help regain access to your mobile device. If you're able, share as much information as possible with law enforcement so they can investigate, or at least document trends, in how often this scam occurs. - Midnight Menus - Miami Beach Restaurant Named Florida's Best After-Midnight Food Spot | sun-times
Midnight Menus - Miami Beach Restaurant Named Florida's Best After-Midnight Food Spot South Florida Sun Times Apr 2, 2026 There’s A Special Kind Of Hunger That Only Hits After Midnight - The Moment When The Fridge Is Empty, The Delivery Apps Have Tapped Out, And Every Sensible Person Is Asleep. Yet Across The Country, There’s A Parallel Universe Still Wide Awake: The 1 am Burger Joints Keeping The Lights On, The Taco Trucks That Never Blink, The 24-Hour Diners Quietly Fueling The Country’s Night-Shift Economy, Gamers, Students, Bartenders Packing Down After Service, And Everyone Else Who Simply Doesn’t Keep Daylight Hours. To map this after-hours ecosystem, ACE.com surveyed 3,018 self-identified night owls and asked them to identify the best places in America to eat when everything else is closed. Florida had 3 of the best late night eats in the country: #2. 11th Street Diner, Miami Beach This piece of American history traveled 1,200 miles to reach you. Built in 1948 by the Paramount Dining Car Company of Haledon, New Jersey, the 11th Street Diner served Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for 44 years before it was dismantled, shipped to South Beach, and reassembled in the Art Deco District. It reopened September 11, 1992, and has been feeding Miami Beach's wildest nights ever since. Guy Fieri came for the pork chops. Locals come for thick burgers, milkshakes, and the feeling of stepping into a time machine. The Blueberry Ghost Burger - habanero ghost pepper Monterey jack, onion rings, homemade blueberry marmalade on a potato bun - is not your grandmother's diner fare. The Famous Fried Chicken Sandwich, buttermilk battered thigh with pickled dill aioli, might be the best thing at 3 am. Open Sunday through Thursday until 11:55 pm, 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. #10. Havana Restaurant (Havana Cuban Food), West Palm Beach When Hurricane Andrew blew Roberto Reyes and his family from Miami to West Palm Beach in 1992, they brought their recipes with them. Thirty years later, Havana is a landmark, and the 24-hour walk-up window - what Cubans call the ventanita - is the most famous in Palm Beach County. USA Today named their Cuban sandwich one of the ten best in America. Cars line up at all hours, hoods serving as makeshift tables while drivers unwrap sandwiches still warm from the press. The Tamal Cubano Especial is homestyle cornmeal laced with seasoned pork, wrapped in a corn husk, topped with tender roast pork, sauteed onions, and Havana's signature mojo sauce. The Media Noche - hot-pressed sweet bread, stacked with ham, pork and swiss cheese - offers the same filling as a Cubano with a subtle sweetness that sets it apart. Inside the dining room or at the ventanita, Havana delivers timeless dishes and Miami-meets-Havana energy around the clock. #14. The Floridian Diner, Fort Lauderdale Since 1937, the Floridian has been serving "Food That Pleases" on Las Olas Boulevard - and somehow, through wars and hurricanes and the endless churn of Florida real estate, it never stopped. This 24-hour institution is as much a time capsule as it is a restaurant - brightly painted rooms filled with photos of celebrities, funky chandeliers, and a menu vast enough to get lost in. Rachael Ray stopped by. So did generations of Fort Lauderdale families, plus every late-night reveler who stumbled off the beach looking for pancakes. The Combo Platter - coconut shrimp, onion rings, jalapeno poppers - is diner indulgence at its finest. Open 24 hours, every day, the Floridian is where Fort Lauderdale remembers itself. The top 10 nationwide were: #1. Crispy Burger, Burlington, Vermont Opened in 2024 in Burlington's Old North End, Crispy Burger has quickly become the late-night lifeline for anyone stumbling out of the bars on North Winooski Avenue. This BIPOK- owned fast-food spot keeps it simple: fried chicken and burgers, made fresh on-site, served until 1:30 am most nights (2 am on weekends). Locals are already calling the fried chicken the best in Vermont, and the honey mustard has developed its own following. Clean, friendly, and exactly what you need when the craving hits after midnight. The Crispy Chicken Burger delivers the signature crunch that gives the place its name. The Fried Chicken Wings Combo with Fries is the move when you need more than a sandwich can provide. Open until 1:30 am Sunday through Thursday, 2 am Friday and Saturday. #2. 11th Street Diner, Miami Beach, Florida This piece of American history traveled 1,200 miles to reach you. #3. Taco Bus, Albuquerque, New Mexico Yes, it’s literally a bus – and yes, it’s one of Albuquerque’s essential late-night stops. Parked at Central Avenue, Taco Bus serves massive burgers, tortas, tacos, and loaded plates until 1:30 am on weekends, drawing college students, night-shift workers, and bar-hoppers with equal force. The Taco Bus Burger is stacked to chaos: house-made patties, bacon, cheese, grilled onions, pineapple, jalapeños, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. The Adobada Torta – marinated pork, tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, onions, ham, cheese, mayo, beans – is a handheld feast. Open until 11:30 pm most nights, 1:30 am on Fridays and Saturdays. #4. Diner’s by Upscale Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii The name is a little tongue-in-cheek. Diner’s by Upscale Hawaii is a Kalihi landmark-a straightforward little place and a kitchen that never closes. What makes it "upscale" is the quality – steaks cooked to order, garlic butter lobster tails, fresh ahi, all served on styrofoam at prices that defy Honolulu's reputation. Locals discovered it years ago and kept it to themselves; tourists stumble in at 3 am and wonder why they've never heard of it. The Burger Combo with fries and a drink is the entry point. The Bento #3 – Teri beef, meat jun, Spam, breaded fish with rice and furikake – is a greatest hits of Hawaiian plate lunch. Open 24/7, Upscale Hawaii proves that comfort food doesn't need walls or tablecloths to hit the spot. #5. Round the Clock Diner, York, Pennsylvania A true 24-hour institution, Round the Clock is where York’s night-shift workers, road-trippers, and post-bar crowds gather for bottomless coffee and diner classics served with no fuss. Chrome booths, huge menus, and plates that hit the table fast - it’s everything a Pennsylvania diner should be. Out of the many kinds of Triple Decker Club Sandwiches, the Charbroiled Chicken Breast sandwich is the stack that powers most late-night visits – made with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo – it leaves nothing more to ask for. The Charbroiled Chicken Breast - lemon pepper, Cajun, BBQ, or original – offers a cleaner, protein-forward option. Open 24/7. #6. Good Time Charli’s, Chandler, Arizona Some bars play music. Good Time Charli's lives it. This Chandler craft pub pulses with live funk, Latin, country, and blues most nights of the week, the kind of place where you might walk in for wings and stay to dance. The menu runs deep - hand-crafted burgers, rustic tacos, stone-fired pizza – but when midnight approaches and the kitchen scales back to appetizers, regulars know exactly what to order. The Nachos arrive with house-made tortilla chips, topped with queso blanco, jalapeños, Roma tomatoes, green onions, black olives, and a drizzle of cilantro lime crema. The Buffalo Wings come bone-in or boneless with a dizzying range of flavors and heat levels, from honey BBQ to mango habanero to keto-friendly dry rubs. The full menu runs until 11 pm, but they'll keep feeding you appetizers until 2 am every night of the week. #7. Midnight Diner, Charlotte, North Carolina A gleaming retro rail-car diner in Uptown, Midnight Diner lives up to its name by serving Charlotte around the clock. It’s bright, bustling, and exactly the kind of place where the club crowd and the night-shift workers end up side by side over bottomless coffee. The Country Fried Steak - an 8oz breaded steak smothered in sausage gravy with two sides and a biscuit – is a 2 am classic. The Cool Ranch Wrap, packed with seasoned grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and house ranch, hits lighter but still satisfies. Open 24 hours. #8. South Street Diner, Boston, Massachusetts Built in 1947 by the Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers, the South Street Diner is one of Boston's incredibly few 24-hour full-service restaurants and a landmark in the Leather District. Esquire named it "The Best Late Night Food in the U.S.," which was featured on The Food Network, and several films have used it as a set, from Hiding Out to The Equalizer. Owner Sol Sidell has kept it running for over two decades, adding eggs Benedict, craft beer, and vegan options alongside the milkshakes and banana waffles. The Texas Burger – with bacon, BBQ sauce, grilled onions, and cheddar - is a half-pound Angus beef staple, layered with crispy bacon, house-grilled onions, and tangy BBQ sauce. The Subs & Wraps – served with fries or salad. For a lighter late-night option, the Mediterranean Wrap features grilled chicken or steak tips tossed with feta, olives, and house-made Greek dressing. Open 24 hours, every day. #9. Al’s Deli & Grill, Birmingham, Alabama UAB students speak of Al's in reverent tones usually reserved for championship games. This Mediterranean hole-in-the-wall on 10th Avenue South has been feeding Birmingham's night owls for years - small inside, with a courtyard out back where the fountain burbles alongside your late-night conversation. Al's is famous for its obscenely generous loaded baked potatoes, the kind locals stretch across four meals. The Shrimp Kabob arrives with jumbo shrimp glossed in homemade special sauce, while the Large Baked Potato - blanketed in butter, sour cream, and cheese - is carb-loaded salvation when the bars close and the rest of the city has gone dark. Open until midnight early in the week, Al's pushes to 2 am Thursday and Saturday, and keeps the lights on until 3 am on Fridays. #10. Havana Restaurant (Havana Cuban Food), West Palm Beach, Florida “Late-night food is more than a meal - it’s a moment. Whether you’re clocking out, dancing out, gaming, studying late, or just awake when the rest of the world isn’t, these spots become little anchors in the night,” says a spokesperson of ACE.com. “What stood out in the survey is how personal these places are to people. They are not just restaurants; they’re rituals, lifelines, and sometimes the only warm light on an empty street. Everyone remembers their 2 am favorite.” Previous Next

Greater Miami & Miami Beach is on the rise for culinary tourism. Earlier this year, the destination earned 16 Michelin stars, the most awarded to any county in Florida. Late last year, a study by Wallet Hub ranked the destination as the “Top Foodie City in America.” This year’s program has included new signature dining experiences, Michelin-recognized restaurants, exciting first-time participants, and an expanded focus on sustainability and social impact. Highlights include: Try an Interactive Experience: Select restaurants are shaking things up with Signature Dining Experiences that transform a meal into an unforgettable culinary adventure. For example, Le Jardinier Miami is hosting an exclusive five-course seasonal chef’s dinner in collaboration with L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon; Blind Tiger is offering a curated omakase journey that highlights creative sushi with bold Japanese flavors; and Faena Theater is cooking up a unique dinner-and-a-show that includes a three‑course menu accompanied by a third‑row orchestra‑level ticket designed to entertain and delight. Also featured is Michelin-recommended Beauty and the Butcher in Coral Gables, where guests can expect a Spice menu showcasing Chef Jeremy Ford’s signature bold flavors and refined technique — with a rotating selection of seasonal small plates and elevated meats crafted just for the occasion. Meet the Newcomers: This year’s lineup includes a wave of first-time participants, including long-time local favorite Uchi in Wynwood; Colombian staple Andrés Carne de Res on Lincoln Road; Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay, offering tapas-style Japanese flavors; Wyn Wyn, serving an Asian fusion Latin menu driven by community; award-winning Ghee Indian Kitchen’s traditional flavors contemporary spin at two locations; Cleo, bringing a bold and flavorful Eastern Mediterranean feast inspired by Old Word cooking techniques with a modern touch; Mimi Chinese, known for its refined take on regional Chinese cuisine; and Donna Mare Italian Chophouse, blending Italy’s rich culinary traditions with a modern twist. Dine with Intention: The 2025 program emphasizes sustainability through partnerships with organizations such as Compost for Life & Glass for Life, and Food Rescue US - South Florida. These initiatives help convert food scraps into soil, repurpose glass into sand, and redirect surplus food to shelters. Participating restaurants are also encouraged to join the Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program, which offers tools and visibility for environmentally conscious operations. - State Of The City Of Hallandale Beach Part 3 | sun-times
State Of The City Of Hallandale Beach Part 3 By Hallandale Beach Mayor, Joy Cooper Jun 19, 2025 The State Of The City Of Hallandale Beach Continued, In The President’s Memo He Believes Private Industry Is Best Suited, When It Comes To Stations. We Certainly Hope So. Community Development Block Grants Have Been Totally Eliminated. These Grants Are Formula Based Depending On The Size Of The City. Big City Means A Big Fund. As A Non-Entitlement City With A Population Under 50,000 Last Year We Received $330,000. These Funds Were Used Partly For The Hepburn Senior Center And For A Smaller Drainage Improvement. Cuts to FEMA from what I could gather are not tied to Preparedness and Disaster Response. They had many other programs that were not purely Emergency Disaster related. They are now focused on their core mission with much of the responsibility passed on to the states. What will be interesting is how States in turn will be able to deal with the added Tax burden. Interestingly, a debate has begun in Florida about cutting Property Taxes. As a note the State of Florida Government does not collect Property Taxes. They receive limited real estate transactional costs. Their biggest revenue? You guessed it, Sales Tax. So you can see why it is so easy for the Governor legislators to make these promises. Here is a brief explanation. The top three ways to generate tax dollars are: Property Tax, Sales Tax and Income tax. Florida does not even have Income tax. Florida is not even in the top ten of Tax Burden states that is why people have flocked here. According to the Tax Foundation it is actually number 4 overall as the lowest Tax Burden state. Wyoming is number 1. Early predictions suggest the state's Sales Tax of 6% would need to be increased well over 12% to fund their needs. Do not be fooled, tourists will not be paying a majority, Tourism accounts for 15% of State Tax Revenues. The increase will be felt by all. I have also heard 22% and up will be needed to fill the cities’ GAP based on the essential services provided. On average 45-60% of cities' budgets go towards Public Safety. We are now rightfully calling this whole push as a “Defund the Police Bill.” How ironic in a Republican controlled state. This issue is one we are already following extremely close along with all of our partners. I will leave you with this: Every city is bound by a cap of 10 Mills. So whether you are homesteaded or not, that's the highest we can set the Tax Rate. One could argue that this cap is actually artificially low taking into consideration the costs of the services we provide. The variation comes with the taxable values. The greater value = greater the tax. Homestead values are capped by 3%. Not a perfect system for new owners or part time owners but loved by full-time residents. There is a reason it is called Save Our Homes. SO again how does this all affect our budget? Surprisingly not much in the current year. But with possible Property Tax cuts, inflation, market changes and Tariffs we will need to take a very long term strategic approach on how we address paying for our services and Infrastructure when it comes to our Millage Rate. For our city we create our budget not expecting anything from the Federal Government or the State. Grants do matter. If there are any available we go after them. Since 2018, we have received over $49 Million in various Grants through the federal and state. These funds allowed us to move more projects forward on our list of needs. How is our Budget? We have a core mission to provide vital essential services. Police, Fire, Emergency Services, Sanitation Services, Water, Wastewater, Stormwater and maintain Public Assets like city roads and Parks. We can provide services directly with our own employees or contract out. In our City we have a combination. Our Budget Team Lead by Budget Director Natasha Mazzie has put together a great brochure on our Budget. We have a $205 Million Dollar projected Budget. $113 of which designated the General Fund whose revenue source is Property Taxes. $55 Million Enterprise fund which includes Sanitation and all Utilities and paid mainly through user Fees. Over $60 Million in projects. We like to take a zero based Budget approach but we have operational obligations when it comes to debt, employee contracts and retirement benefits. And unlike your business we do not get to choose what services to cut, we must deliver them one way or another. Public Safety is and always will be the biggest expenditure. Hallandale Beach Police Department is one of the finest with the best response times nationally. We have been State Accredited for five years and have just gone through our new Five Year Accreditation. We have been recommended once again for Full Accreditation without any recommended findings. We continue to invest in technology. As promised last year. We are on schedule with building out our Crime Prevention Systems. Dig Baby Dig! By this year’s end, we will have every single entrance point covered with License Plate Readers. CCTVs cameras will run the entirety of Hallandale Beach Boulevard which are real time manned at the BSO Center. This year we will continue to add additional manning. Spotshooter sensors will cover the entire city. Promises Made, Kept and Delivered! Fire and EMS are contracted out to BSO. We still pay for all the costs including staffing, facilities and equipment. I had not been a fan of this contract as it did not include an emergency coordinator which used to be the Fire Chief that worked citywide. There were built in cost increases ranging upward to 10% and management of the department runs over $1 Million a year. With Chief Fucci coming on board it has made a vast difference. He brought with him a wealth of field and Budget experience. His leadership has also brought stability and renewed community involvement. We recently found out that BSO is actually having their own difficulty with staff retention and recruitment due to competitive salaries at other agencies. Due to these issues they performed a Salary Compensation Study. In order to compete with Palm Beach and Dade County’s salaries. They have proposed a 20% increase over the next five year contract. At this time, Dr. Earle is proposing a strategic financial plan to smooth out the increase over the next 5 years. The contract still needs to be completed and brought to the commission. The Fire Fee is a means to cover Fire Services, EMS, however, is not covered. Current Revenue from the Fire Fee is $12 Million. This is combined with other revenues including $1.1 Million in collected Ambulance Fees and $2 Million from the State Insurance Pension contributions to help pay for this vital service but our BSO contract is for $24 Million. You heard me, a $9 Million Dollar Gap that falls on the General Fund. At current levels it is an unsustainable burden on our General Fund. As always, I am available anytime for your questions, concerns, and ideas to make our city a better place on my Phone/Text at: (954) 632-5700. Or you can email me at: jcooper@cohb.org . - Fogo de Chão Fort Lauderdale A Brazilian Epicurean Adventure | sun-times
Fogo de Chão Fort Lauderdale A Brazilian Epicurean Adventure By Merilee Kern, MBA Jul 16, 2025 Ensconced In The Vibrant Las Olas Boulevard Section Of Fort Lauderdale, Fogo de Chão Offers An Incomparable Dining Experience Exuding The Warmth Of Brazilian Hospitality. With Locations Around The Globe, This Particular South Florida Location Uniquely Captures The Essence Of The Brand While Infusing It With Local Flair. The Restaurant’s Signature Commitment To Value, Variety, And Customization Shines Through In Every Detail, Making It A Standout Among Fort Lauderdale’s Dining Options. At the heart of Fogo de Chão is its dedication to balancing tradition with innovation. For over 45 years, the restaurant has celebrated the rich heritage of Brazilian churrasco, while continuously evolving its menu to meet modern tastes and dietary preferences. This is evident in offerings like its Signature Churrasco Experience, where a rotating selection of high-quality meats, carved tableside by gaucho chefs, ensures a dynamic and satisfying culinary journey free from the anxiety of choosing just one dish. Guests are also invited to indulge in dishes like the Whole Branzino, a delicately grilled fish that highlights the versatility of the churrasco cooking style, and the indulgent Caviar Brioche, which bridges the gap between luxury and approachability. The restaurant’s famed “Market Table” complements the dining experience with its vibrant array of seasonal salads, exotic vegetables, and nutrient-rich dishes, catering to diverse dietary needs including vegetarian, gluten-free, and keto options. For a deeper dive into this restaurant’s formula for success, below is a conversation with Neimar Hensel, Area Manager at Fogo de Chão, who highlights why this Fort Lauderdale hotspot offers an exceptional epicurean adventure. MK: First, what makes the Fort Lauderdale location of Fogo de Chão unique compared to other locations throughout the U.S.? NH: The Fort Lauderdale location stands out with its expansive outdoor patio, offering a unique dining experience in the open air, with views of the waterfront. The venue combines the laid-back South Florida vibe with vibrant Brazilian culture. Our Fort Lauderdale location also features a butcher shop storefront where our gauchos, professionally trained chefs, expertly prepare premium cuts, and can offer you popular cuts like Ribeyes, NY Strip Steaks, and Filet Mignon, as well as more authentic Brazilian cuts including Picanha and Fraldinha to take home. At Fogo, we focus on the three most important aspects of dining out for our guests, which are value, variety and customization. We offer customizable menu offerings so everyone can find their culinary favorites at every daypart, including weekend brunch, All-Day Happy Hour at Bar Fogo, Lunch, Dinner, and fresh, seasonal soup and salads at the Market Table which is suited for all dietary lifestyles including pescatarian, keto, paleo, gluten-free and more. These aspects truly set us apart from other steakhouses. MK: What sets the restaurant apart from other comparable restaurant options in Fort Lauderdale? NH: Dining out often comes with “menu anxiety” or “plate envy,” where people regret their order after seeing what someone else gets. At Fogo, this stress disappears with our Signature Churrasco Experience. Guests have endless opportunities to discover new culinary options and savor their favorites including a rotating mix of high-quality proteins cut and served tableside, signature sides, and customizable dishes, which means that they don’t have to pick just one. At Fogo, we offer customizable menu offerings for every daypart, including weekend brunch, All-Day Happy Hour at Bar Fogo, Lunch, Dinner, and fresh, seasonal soup and salads at the Market Table which is suited for all dietary lifestyles including pescatarian, keto, paleo, gluten-free and more. These aspects truly set us apart from other steakhouses. Our Dry-Aged meat locker of premium cuts offers our guests a unique, elevated and distinct culinary experience. Dry-aged premium cuts are renowned for their intensified meat flavors and enhanced tenderness. The dry-aging process of 22-42 days enhances the natural flavors of the meat while breaking down the muscle fibers, resulting in a richer, nutty, and bolder beef taste and a tender texture. Fogo’s Dry-Aged Premium Cuts are designed to share and enhance your dining occasion from birthdays to anniversaries to group meetings, feeding 2-6 guests. MK: Brazilian hospitality is a cornerstone of Fogo de Chão’s philosophy. How is this reflected in the service provided at the Fort Lauderdale location? NH: From the moment guests arrive, they are greeted with warmth and a sense of care that makes them feel right at home. The gaucho chefs, who bring the churrasco meats directly to the table, create an interactive and engaging experience, ensuring each guest receives the perfect meal tailored to their preferences. At Fogo, we pride ourselves on bringing Brazilian hospitality to the heart of every city. MK: Fogo de Chão has a rich history rooted in Brazilian churrasco. How does the restaurant balance tradition with innovation in its dining experience? NH: For the past 45 years, Fogo has provided wholesome, nutritional menu options for every dietary tribe. By staying consistent with our Brazilian roots, we are continuously evolving to provide offerings that align with guests' expectations, from quality to flavor. A perfect example of this is the introduction of blistered fresh fish to our menu with the Whole Branzino. The Whole Branzino can be added to any experience and is deboned and then grilled on the churrasco grill over an open flame which blisters the skin, giving the fish a crisp and decadent flavor. Many guests don’t realize that traditional churrasco is not exclusive to steak, but also includes fresh fish. A more viral example is our Caviar Brioche. Caviar is all over Social Media, with many guests sharing they are excited to try this indulgent offering for the first time. Our Caviar Brioche allows guests to try decadent items in the form of small bites, allowing us to provide guests an attainable and approachable value for indulgent offerings. MK: What are some of the most popular cuts of meat served at this location, and do you offer any exclusive menu items specific to Fort Lauderdale? NH: The most popular cut of meat is Fogo’s signature specialty Picanha (top sirloin) and Fraldinha (bottom sirloin). Both of which are lightly seasoned in-house with salt and cooked over an open flame, then carved tableside by our Gaucho chefs. Each cut is a favorite in Brazil and loved by our guests in Fort Lauderdale and nationwide. MK: Beyond the churrasco-style meats, what other menu highlights or dishes should guests not miss? NH: I recommend guests try the new Whole Branzino. The 2lbs. Fresh, mild white fish is blistered churrasco-style and served tableside with extra virgin olive oil, lemon, and parsley, offering a delicious enhancement to the Full Churrasco Experience. I also recommend guests try our dry-aged premium cuts that are dry-aged for a minimum of 42 days and are renowned for their intensified meat flavors and enhanced tenderness. The dry-aged Tomahawk Ribeye is the perfect enhancement to any meal to discover the tender, juicy, and robust flavors. MK: Can you expand a bit on your Market Table and its role in complementing the churrasco experience? NH: The Market Table plays a key role in complementing the churrasco experience by offering a variety of seasonal salads and soups, exotic vegetables, imported cheeses, smoked salmon, cured meats, and more. It features a wide selection of nutrient-dense, whole foods, including plant-based options, allowing guests to customize their meals based on their preferences. We continue to offer fresh ingredients and create limited time offerings such as the recently added Roasted Apple & Butternut Squash Salad, Seasonal Hummus, and Carrot Ginger Soup. This adds balance and variety to the rich, savory flavors of the churrasco experience, enhancing the overall discovery dining experience with vibrant, flavorful choices. Guests are welcome to visit the Market Table as many times as they’d like during their meal. MK: How does the restaurant cater to diners with dietary preferences or restrictions, such as vegetarians or gluten-free guests? NH: Unlike traditional steakhouses, Fogo offers a variety of dining options for every dietary tribe including keto, gluten-free, vegan, and more. We offer guests specialty dishes including Seared Tofu and Sesame Black Bean Pasta, Seafood Tower complete with Lobster Tails and snow crab legs, Cauliflower Steak, Fogo’s naturally gluten-free Market Table and more. MK: For first-time visitors, what tips or advice would you offer to ensure they get the most out of their dining experience? NH: For first-time guests, I always recommend they start their experience at the Market Table with seasonal salads and soups, exotic vegetables, imported cheeses, smoked salmon, cured meats, and more. Take your time to savor the flavors from the churrasco experience, and consider adding enhancements like the Whole Branzino or Wagyu Porterhouse, especially when dining with a large group as they’re perfect for sharing with the table to spark new discoveries of culinary favorites. And, no experience is complete without a Caipirinha cocktail, made with cachaça, lime, and sugar, which offers a refreshing and authentic Brazilian flavor. MK: What is your personal favorite item on the menu? NH: My personal favorite is the Fraldinha, which has a rich flavor and a salty bark due to our churrasco cooking style. I also enjoy the Picanha, the lamb chops, and the Porterhouse. MK: What is your personal favorite aspect of the dining experience at large? NH: My favorite aspect of the dining experience at Fogo is our variety of offerings. I consider myself to be a flexitarian, eating meat, fish, and vegan meals. The variety at Fogo allows me to accommodate my changing dietary preferences on a daily basis. I, along with our guests, are never limited to one option or one dietary tribe. MK: As Fort Lauderdale continues to grow as a culinary destination, how does Fogo de Chão aim to stay ahead of dining trends while maintaining its authenticity? NH: At Fogo, we offer customizable menu offerings for every daypart, including weekend brunch, All-Day Happy Hour at Bar Fogo, Lunch, Dinner, and fresh, seasonal soup and salads at the Market Table which is suited for all dietary lifestyles including pescatarian, keto, paleo, gluten-free and more. These aspects truly set us apart from other steakhouses. We hold quarterly wine dinners and monthly bar events that allow guests to indulge in a tailored menu with signature offerings including wagyu, with curated wine pairings to sample some of Fogo’s best offerings, encouraging guests to come back and indulge in their culinary favorites they discovered. From the interactive service of the gaucho chefs to the thoughtfully curated menu offerings, every visit to Fogo de Chão on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale is designed to create a memorable epicurean experience.
