Broadway's brightest stars are coming to celebrate at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center as part of the 2022 Broadway Concert Series. See Shoshana Bean, Norm Lewis, Linda Eder, Rachel Bay Jones, Lucie Arnaz and Telly Leung live on stage as they perform Broadway classics and pop hits for your entertainment. The entire series has been rescheduled from 2021.

Kicking off the Aventura Broadway Concert Series is Shoshana Bean, a veteran of the Broadway stage. Bean made her debut in the original cast of Hairspray, starring as the very first replacement for Elphaba in Wicked and most recently as Jenna in Waitress. She is acclaimed for her performances in regional theater and has been honored with an IRNE Award for her performance as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and a nomination for Chicago’s Jeff Award for her portrayal of CeeCee Bloom in the pre-Broadway musical production of Beaches. She has sold out solo concerts around the globe, lent her voice to countless films and television shows and performed alongside superstars such as Ariana Grande and Michael Jackson.

In an evening filled with the songs from roles that have brought him critical acclaim to his unique takes on musical theater standards, Lewis promises to leave audiences wanting more.

The City of Aventura presents the National Players' production of A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by Christopher Michael Richardson. This award-winning drama with a universal story tells the story about an African American family in the ‘50s. The members of the Younger family dream bigger than the small house where they live on the south side of Chicago. When their deceased father's insurance money comes through, those dreams might actually become a reality. Walter Lee wants to run his own business and earn financial independence, but his sister Beneatha dreams of attending medical school .Meanwhile, their mother Lena wants to move them all to a bigger home in a white neighborhood. What will finally allow the Youngers to move up in the world, and who will have their dreams deferred?

A Midsummer Night's Dream

The City of Aventura is proud to present the National Players' production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare and directed by Danielle Drakes. Fairies, thespians, and runaway lovers all find themselves wandering the forest at night. With the fairy king and queen scheming, the lovers escaping, and the ragtag troupe of actors hastily rehearsing a show for the duke's wedding tomorrow, what more could go wrong? When a fairy named Puck accidentally misapplies a love potion and purposefully transforms an actor into a donkey, it will take more than magic to set things right. Get lost in the forest with the National Players in the most epic romantic entanglement of all time. A magical comedy that's fun for children and adults alike.

The Aventura Broadway Concert Series continues with Linda Eder who is often described as one of the greatest voices of our time for her effortless ability to transition from one genre to another. With a diverse repertoire spanning Broadway, standards, pop, country, and jazz, Eder has performed for sold-out crowds in venues across the country and throughout Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, The Palace Theatre and Radio City Music Hall. Stephen Holden of The New York Times wrote, “What do we mean when we use the word perfection? The question arises every time I watch the pop singer Linda Eder….”

Rachel Bay Jones joins the Aventura Broadway Concert Series following originating the role of 'Heidi Hansen' in the original Broadway cast of Dear Evan Hansen and receiving a Tony Award®, Emmy® Award, Grammy® Award, Lucille Lortel Award and Drama League nomination for her performance. She also appeared on Broadway in Pippin, Hair, and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. In addition to her television appearances on Modern Family and God Friended Me, she appeared opposite Julia Roberts in the feature film Ben Is Back.

Celebrating a life on stage, Lucie Arnaz returns to her theater roots looking back at some of the roles she has had on stages throughout the world with I Got the Job! Songs From My Musical Past with music director Ron Abel. From her first role at 14 as The Cheshire Cat in Alice In Wonderland to a grandmother hanging upside down on a trapeze while singing about the preciousness of life in Pippin, Arnaz celebrates great American Musical Theatre with anecdotes and fond memories about her co-stars, directors and musical collaborators. In this latest offering in the Aventura Broadway Concert Series, she delivers iconic songs and hidden treasures from some of Broadway’s greatest shows and a look at the backstage magic it takes to create them.

Broadway's Telly Leung is joined by a trio of New York's finest musicians to present a musical chronicle of how a Brooklyn-boy went from the son of Chinese immigrants to being one of Broadway's favorite leading men in shows such as Aladdin, Allegiance, Godspell and Rent. This Aventura Broadway Concert Series season finale is filled with personal backstage anecdotes and hit songs from the world of Broadway, pop, rock and jazz.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts manages the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, a 14,864-square-foot, 330-seat waterfront complex that hosts performing arts, cultural and educational programming for all ages.

Aventura Arts & Cultural Center has implemented a number of changes to ensure an enjoyable experience.
