- Recycle Right
Recycle Right August 10, 2023 Share Recycling contamination has become a bigger problem in the City of Hollywood over the past several years. More than 60% of recycling collections are contaminated. When a cart includes contaminated items, the entire collection is trash. The City’s Department of Public Works, in partnership with recycling partners, have a renewed focus on encouraging residents to recycle right. Crews will begin inspecting carts for compliance prior to collection; if contamination is observed the cart will not be collected. Information on how to recycle right can be found on the City’s website at: www.HollywoodFL.org To ensure you are recycling right, be sure to: • Completely empty and rinse glass and plastic containers before placing in cart • Dispose of caps, lids, and straws in the trash • Place recycled items loosely in the cart, not inside a plastic bag • Remove all plastic tape from cardboard boxes • Collapse all cardboard If you think an item can be recycled but you are unsure, check the City’s website at: www.HollywoodFL.org or throw it in your gray garbage cart to reduce contamination. Blue recycling carts must not be used for household trash. Most contamination in the City comes from 3 items that should never be placed in the recycling cart: • Plastic shopping bags • Pizza or food cardboard boxes. To avoid risk of contamination, clean or not, do not throw them in the cart. • Alkaline and Rechargeable Batteries Bring plastic shopping bags back to your favorite grocer for recycling. Alkaline batteries are trash, rechargeable batteries can be dropped off for recycling at major box stores and battery retailers. Food containers with any food or grease stains should be thrown in the trash. - Outback & Carrabba’s Express:
Outback & Carrabba’s Express: By Felipe Castilla - PROFILES March 2021 March 15, 2021 Share Celebrating Amazing Food, Impeccable Service, and a Dine-out Experience You Can’t Beat. For Matt Morrell, General Manager at Outback Carrabba’s Express, the best times he remembered having were all at the dinner table with his family. From an early age, Matt knew he wanted to extend that joy he felt at home to others, professionally as well. Those same feelings of togetherness and belonging Matt felt as a youth, are what inspire him and his team today, to go above and beyond at Outback Carrabba’s Express to provide customers with not only incredible food but, more importantly, an unforgettable experience. Outback Carrabba’s Express is a combination restaurant that focuses on a more refined dine-out experience, in Hallandale Beach, FL. They had their grand opening on Monday, February 22. “We serviced around 250 individuals in the area,” Matt said. “It was great to finally open the doors and take care of our special community.” The restaurant is located at 2307 East Hallandale Beach Blvd. situated between an AT&T and T-Mobile store. It’s smaller than the traditional Outback Steakhouse and Carrabba’s Italian Grill, but only because it’s designed to maximize productivity and efficiency in the kitchen. Although the concept is not new, it is new to Hallandale Beach. In fact, there are currently two other locations in Riverview and South Tampa. “We’ve been open for some time,” Matt said. “We’re in our sixth year of operations.” The idea behind this style of eatery, is to offer customers delicious, sumptuous, and amazing quality food that conveniently fits into their busy lifestyle. They do this by concentrating solely on a dine-out experience, providing customers with excellent Takeout, Delivery and even Catering services, without the traditional dining room and bar. From equipment to lighting, they have tailored their entire layout for the best customer experience possible with an emphasis on efficiency and quality. “We offer unbeatable food with amazing service in a fast paced environment,” said Matt. The Outback and Carrabba’s fusion features all the favorite dishes from both all under one roof. The Chicken Bryan from Carrabba’s Italian Grill for example, is a wood grilled chicken topped with goat cheese, sun dried tomato, basil and lemon butter sauce. If you’re thinking that this dish has an odd name, you wouldn’t be alone. In fact, the Chicken Bryan is named after Bryan, Texas, the small town, the Carrabba family settled in, after moving from Sicily. Another signature dish offered at the new restaurant is, the Fettuccini Carrabba. It’s a fettuccini Alfredo with wood grilled chicken, sautéed mushrooms and peas. There is also the Filet and Lobster Tail special from Outback Steakhouse. It’s a juicy, thick cut 6 oz. Outback filet and cold water steamed lobster tail, served with drawn butter. Let’s not forget Outback’s iconic Bloomin’ Onion, hand carved, cooked until it’s crisp, gold and ready to dip in their signature bloom sauce. All of these and more, are available for takeout and on all third-party food delivery platforms. That means you can order from Uber Eats, DoorDash, Postmates, Grubhub and more. The food isn’t the only thing to celebrate about at Outback Carrabba’s Express, however. The customer service is what’s really at the heart of the operation. They’ve gathered a special group of highly trained individuals, all coming together to deliver signature food and quality service. What Matt and the rest of the team are most excited about, is bringing families together, especially in a time of the Covid-19 pandemic. That’s because they consider themselves as one big family. It’s this family-oriented atmosphere that makes the Outback Carrabba’s Express worth visiting. The fine staff at Outback Carrabba’s Express are personable, expertly trained, and driven by their desire to provide a delicious dining experience to those who aren’t looking for the traditional restaurant experience. Outback Carrabba’s Express works to see the customer experience, through the eyes of their customers to better understand their expectations and deliver on them. For the excellent staff, it’s not just about great food, but about creating new, exciting and satisfying customer experiences. “I think it goes back to how I got started,” Matt said. “Seeing the joy in people coming together for something better.” Their hours of operation are Sunday - Thursday 11am - 10pm and Saturday - Sunday from 11am - 11pm. Matt and the team, make sure to dedicate time towards finding people who align with Outback Carrabba Express’ principles and beliefs. The Outback Carrabba Express team will stop at nothing short of excellence, when it comes to providing customer service. The service and hospitality provided at Outback Steakhouse and Carrabba’s Italian Grill, have now been expanded to accommodate, even the busiest customer with a convenience that fits any occasion. The magnificent steak cuts, pasta’s and seafood you expect from Outback and Carrabba’s, are available in one convenient location. With generous portions at a modest price, this versatile dine-out restaurant is guaranteed to satisfy families across Hallandale Beach. < Previous News Next News >

- Thanksgiving - Have An Attitude Of Gratitude | sun-times
Thanksgiving - Have An Attitude Of Gratitude By Bryan Golden Nov 19, 2025 Thanksgiving Is Much More Than A Big Meal With Family And Friends. It's A Time To Reflect On And Be Thankful For All Of The Good Things You Have. It's Important To Be Grateful, Not Just On Thanksgiving, But Each And Every Day. Rather Than Lamenting What You Feel Is Lacking In Your Life, Begin Each New Day By Developing An Attitude Of Gratitude. Take Inventory Of Your Blessings And You Will Be Surprised At Just How Much You Have To Be Thankful For. If you have enough to eat, a place to live, a way to get around, people who care about you, or people you care about, then you are wealthy. If you lack any of these elements, you must still be grateful for what you do have, while striving to obtain whatever is absent. Focus on all positive aspects of your life. Take nothing for granted. Every morning, recharge your appreciation. Be happy for everything there is, not upset over what you feel is missing. Dreams of the future shouldn’t diminish appreciation for the present. If all you do is concentrate on what you want, you won't enjoy today. Don't be jealous of others; what they do or have has no bearing on you. You can feel bitter or resentful for a variety of reasons. Perhaps you feel something is missing from your life, things aren't going your way, or you have been treated unfairly. You may wonder, "why do these things always happen to me?" Life's problems tend to dominate your thoughts, turning your focus to what you feel is wrong. You may start to resent those who appear to be better off. You’re apt to dwell on things you think would make your life better if you had them. If only you had more money, more time, a bigger house, a different car, a different job, a different boss, had picked a different career, etc. Once your attitude becomes one of deficiency instead of abundance and appreciation, you can become overwhelmed by feelings of frustration and feel like a victim. As this happens, a consuming vicious cycle starts. Being bitter or resentful blows situations out of proportion. People who are bitter frequently find that their situations deteriorate and their mental and physical health decays. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to achieve your goals while you are bitter or resentful. Regardless of what challenges might befall you, bitterness makes finding solutions much more elusive. There is no point to feeling bitter since it accomplishes nothing, harms you and makes things worse. Filling yourself with gratitude on a daily basis makes you feel good, while driving out negative feelings. Begin your practice of gratitude each morning as soon as you wake. Every day is a great day. If you have any doubts, try missing one. Take inventory of everything, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, that is good in your life. If it helps, make a written list of all things you are grateful for. Read your list every day. As you do this, you will build and reinforce your attitude of gratitude. Don't waste any time with what you feel you don't have. Keep things in perspective. Consider all the people who have overcome difficulties far worse than yours. Don't be consumed by your problems, there is always a solution. Maintaining an attitude of gratitude allows your mind to devise a resolution for your circumstances. Make everyday a day of Thanksgiving and you will be amazed how much better your life will become. Bryan is the author of "Dare to Live Without Limits." Contact Bryan at: Bryan@columnist.com .
