  • Beach Construction To Begin Again: Dania, Hallandale Beach & Hollywood Residents Will Be Affected

Beach Construction To Begin Again: Dania, Hallandale Beach & Hollywood Residents Will Be Affected October 12, 2023 Share The idyllic stretches of sand and surf along Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, and Hollywood Beach have long been cherished by residents and visitors alike. However, the relentless forces of nature have taken their toll on these picturesque shores over the years. In response, a significant beach renourishment project is set to reshape the coastal landscape again, ensuring the preservation and protection of these beloved beachfront communities. In February 2021, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) awarded the Segment III Beach Renourishment Construction Contract to Continental Heavy Civil Corporation. This project is no ordinary endeavor; it's a collaborative effort between local and federal entities, with a clear goal in mind - to restore and safeguard our coastline. Stretching from Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park in the south to Hallandale Beach in the north, this project aims to place approximately 887,000 cubic yards of upland sand along the shoreline. What's remarkable is that the federal government, through its Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies (FCCE) Program, is funding this endeavor with a 100% cost share. This commitment was triggered by the need for recovery following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. To execute this ambitious undertaking, meticulous planning is essential. Segment III Beach Renourishment will be implemented in distinct phases, each addressing the unique requirements of the shoreline: • Dr. Von Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park: This segment extends from the Port Everglades South Jetty to FDEP Reference Monument R-92. • Dania Beach/Hollywood Beach: From Dania Beach Pier to Hollywood Beach, Lee Street (R-108). • Hollywood Beach/Hallandale Beach: Stretching from Hollywood Beach, Iris Terrace (R-119) to the South County Line (R-128). Currently, construction is paused for Turtle Nesting Season, showcasing the project's commitment to Environmental Preservation. The pause began on June 1st, 2022 and construction will resume on November 1st, 2023. The transformation of these beaches will be a gradual one, designed to minimize disruptions to the community. Hallandale Beach will witness the project's initial phase, with Sand Placement commencing at South City Beach Park’s access point. From there, construction will progress north through Hollywood Beach, with an estimated completion date set for April 2024. Construction activities will primarily take place during daylight hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will typically run from Monday to Friday. However, if necessary to stay on schedule, work may extend into Saturdays. The project has already made significant strides since its commencement. The Initial Construction Phase began within the confines of Dr. Von Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park on November 1st, 2021 and concluded on May 31st, 2022. This pause was vital to allow Nesting Turtles to thrive undisturbed. A Respectful Approach It's important to note that construction will only occur on upland beaches where property owners have granted construction easements. In areas where these easements have not been granted, Sand Placement will be limited to below the Erosion Control Line. This line defines the boundary between State Sovereign Submerged Lands and Upland Ownership. The project's success depends on the cooperation and support of the community. Various Beach Access Points have been identified for Construction Access and Staging as needed by the Construction vendor: • Approximate location of R-99, Dania Beach Public Parking Lot • Meade Street, Hollywood Beach • South City Beach Park, Hallandale Beach As the sands shift, so too does our commitment to ensuring that the beaches we hold dear remain a source of beauty and enjoyment for generations to come. Beach Construction is not just about rebuilding sand; it's about fortifying the bonds that tie our communities to these natural wonders. The journey to restore our coastlines has begun once more, and it is a journey that promises a brighter and more resilient future for Dania, Hallandale Beach, and Hollywood residents alike. Should you have any questions or require more information about the beach renourishment program, please do not hesitate to contact Jacob Rice at: jrice@broward.org . Your involvement and engagement are crucial as we work together to rejuvenate and safeguard our cherished coastal treasures. < Previous News Next News >

  • The Royal Bris Throne | sun-times

The Royal Bris Throne By Rabbi Moishe Kievman - Chabad Chayil Jun 18, 2026 A Central Custom Of Every Bris (Brit Milah) Is The Use Of The Chair Of Elijah (Kisei Shel Eliyahu). Jewish Tradition Teaches That The Prophet Elijah Attends Every Bris Milah As A Witness To The Eternal Covenant Between The Am Yisrael And Hashem. Before The Ceremony Begins, The Baby Is Placed Upon This Special Chair, Adding Sanctity And Spiritual Significance To The Mitzvah. For centuries, Jewish communities have honored this tradition by preparing a distinguished seat in honor of Elijah the Prophet. Truthfully, most Bris Milahs — including my own — were performed using a regular chair that was simply designated as the Chair of Elijah for the duration of the Bris, and that is absolutely proper and meaningful. At the same time, Judaism teaches us the value of beautifying a mitzvah. If we have the opportunity to honor Elijah the Prophet and elevate this sacred moment with something beautiful, majestic, and dignified, why not do it in the most special way possible? The Sandek and The Royal Throne One of the greatest honors at a Bris Milah is serving as the Sandek — the person who holds the baby during the Bris itself. The role of the Sandek is considered an especially meaningful mitzvah and is often compared to offering the sacred incense in the Holy Temple. The Royal Bris Throne provides an elegant and distinguished seat for the Sandek, giving proper honor to both the mitzvah and the individual chosen for this cherished role. The grandeur of the chair adds beauty and significance to the ceremony while creating a memorable experience for family and guests alike. A Beautiful Tradition at Chabad Chayil Every Bris Milah is a moment filled with holiness, emotion, and generations of Jewish tradition. At Chabad Chayil, families now have the opportunity to celebrate this sacred mitzvah with our magnificent Royal Bris Throne — a breathtaking Chair of Elijah designed to bring beauty, dignity, and meaning to the occasion. We’ve been working on getting such a chair for quite a few years, and with Hashem’s help we finally found the right craftsman to pull it off. Crafted with regal elegance, the custom made unique throne features luxurious gold detailing, a grand high-back design, and royal craftsmanship that transforms any Bris ceremony into an unforgettable experience. More than just a chair, it serves as a powerful symbol of tradition and spirituality at one of the most meaningful moments in Jewish life. Available for Your Simcha The Royal Bris Throne is available for families celebrating at Chabad Chayil, and can also be rented for Bris ceremonies held at homes, banquet halls, or synagogues throughout the community. Whether used for an intimate family gathering or a grand celebration, the throne creates a stunning centerpiece and a memorable backdrop for cherished photographs and lifelong memories. At Chabad Chayil, we are proud to help families celebrate this sacred milestone with beauty, warmth, and tradition. • New Siena Poll Reveals Major Shift Among NYC Jewish Democrats Amid Backlash Over DSA Endorsements | sun-times

New Siena Poll Reveals Major Shift Among NYC Jewish Democrats Amid Backlash Over DSA Endorsements Jewish Connection News Aug 27, 2026 A Dramatic Political Shift Is Underway Among Jewish Voters In New York. New Findings From A Recent Siena Poll Reveal Deep Dissatisfaction With The Democratic Socialists Of America (DSA) And Growing Concern Over The Direction Of The State. Bonsell: "For too long, many Democratic politicians have assumed that Jewish voters will continue to support them regardless of how far the party moves to the left. This coming November they are in for a rude awakening." The survey reveals that 75% of Jewish New Yorkers hold an unfavorable view of the DSA. Additionally, 51% of Jewish respondents state that New York is currently heading in the wrong direction. The most striking shift appears in congressional voting intentions. If the election for U.S. House Representatives were held today, 41% of Jewish New Yorkers say they would vote for the Republican candidate. Another 7% remain undecided. This marks a notable departure from traditional voting patterns, considering only about 15% of New York Jews are registered Republicans. This shifting political landscape is putting local races in the spotlight, including the contest for Manhattan's 28th State Senate District. Republican Candidate Alina Bonsell is challenging incumbent Democratic State Senator Liz Krueger in the upcoming November 3rd Election. Senator Krueger recently drew scrutiny after endorsing Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a prominent member of the DSA. Bonsell notes that the poll should prompt Jewish Democrats and voters across New York to closely examine the current trajectory of the Democratic Party. "This poll should be a wake-up call for Jewish Democrats across New York," said Bonsell. "The message from Jewish voters is becoming increasingly clear: they are concerned about the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America and the direction in which this movement is taking our city and our state." Bonsell emphasizes that parties can no longer take these voters for granted. "For too long, many Democratic politicians have assumed that voters will continue to support them regardless of how far the party moves to the left," Bonsell added. "This poll shows that assumption is dangerous. Voters are paying attention, and this coming November they are in for a rude awakening." State Senate District 28 encompasses a large portion of Manhattan's East Side, including neighborhoods with significant Jewish populations. • Tel Aviv University’s Dr. Jeffrey M. Hausdorff Discusses His Mobility And Neurological Research | sun-times

Tel Aviv University’s Dr. Jeffrey M. Hausdorff Discusses His Mobility And Neurological Research By Linda Chase - Jewish Connection News Jan 7, 2025 For nearly 25 years, Dr. Jeffrey M. Hausdorff has been directing a research center that studies gait, cognition and mobility at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. Hausdorff also serves as a professor in the Department of Physical Therapy in the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University. During our conversation, Professor Hausdorff shared details regarding his background and research. “After completing my formal education in biomedical engineering, I carried out postdoctoral training in aging at Harvard Medical School and carried out research for a number of years at the Margret & H.A. Rey Institute for Nonlinear Dynamics in Physiology and Medicine in Boston. Under the direction of Professor Ary Goldberger, at the Reylab, we investigated research questions, developed and applied innovative research tools based on nonlinear dynamics and fractal physiology. In 2000, I moved to Israel with my family and joined a clinical and research team in the Movement Disorders Unit (MDU) in the Department of Neurology at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. MDU was led by Professor Nir Giladi and it focused on treating and improving the lives of people with Parkinson’s Disease. Professor Giladi and I shared interests in studying gait and patients with Parkinson’s Disease and Nir allowed me to set up my research lab as part of the MDU. A major advantage of this setup was that our research facility was actually integrated into the clinic. We aim to better understand the physiology of a healthy gait. We have also studied the relationship between genetic mutations associated with PD and their impact on gait in healthy people who have an increased risk of developing PD in the future (single neuron firing in patients undergoing surgery for deep brain stimulation.)” “Early studies of gait focused on biomechanics, muscle strength and movement of the joints,” Hausdorff continued. “One of the major insights we learned is that among older adults and many patients with neurological disease, like PD, biomechanics play a role, however, cognitive function is also critically important to safe ambulation and fall risk. We have spent much of the past two decades characterizing and fine-tuning our understanding of everyday walking where there are obstacles, surprises and many challenges that require many specific aspects of cognitive function. This led us to use brain imaging techniques like MRI (and functional MRI) as well as functional near infra-red spectroscopy (fNIRS) and EEG, allowing us to probe brain function during walking.” “The second broad goal of our research is to develop new tools and methods for quantifying gait and mobility,” Hausdorff continued. “This line of work has emerged as a very exciting field on its own with much interest from the FDA and many others. It has the potential to capture not just what a person can do when he or she is tested in a clinic, but also actual, daily living performance. While capacity is necessary for function, we have shown that there are large gaps between the two. Moreover, function may be more relevant to the patient than capacity. From a clinical trial and drug development perspective, many have suggested that long-term, continuous, 24/7 monitoring could save time and money, potentially shortening the time needed to test the value of a new therapy or drug.” Hausdorff shared his further studies on gait. “Gait speed and a closely related measure of step length, are two very powerful and sensitive measures of gait. Among older adults, gait speed predicts morbidity, mortality, disability, fall risk, cognitive decline and the development of Dementia. In the past, a biomechanical model of gait was used to estimate step length and gait speed from a sensor worn on the lower back during real-world, daily living studies. This was helpful and insightful, however, the model was not very accurate. With the help of a graduate student, Assaf Zadka, and Professor Neta Rabin, an expert in machine learning at TAU, we developed a new approach to estimating step length and gait speed from a wearable sensor. The machine learning approach is about four times more accurate than the biomechanical model.” “Another application of machine learning and wearable sensors was in our recent study of freezing of gait (FOG) among people with PD,” Hausdorff added. “FOG is a mysterious, disabling problem that affects many, but not all people with PD. When it happens, typically in an unpredictable manner, the person reports as if her feet are glued to the ground. This problem markedly impairs function, leads to falls, and, ultimately, confines the person to wheelchair use because of safety concerns. We have shown, for example, the key role of anxiety, depression and certain aspects of cognitive function in this problem. However, in the past, our investigations were limited to snapshot assessments in the clinic or home that do not fully reflect daily living FOG. Combining machine learning, with wearable sensor data, enabled us to quantify this problem in the daily living setting. We found (for the first time) time of day affects therapy treatment and prevention.” Hausdorff explained the therapeutic focus of his research. “Our third research direction is therapy, building on insights from our earlier studies. We aim to develop interventions that improve gait, reduce fall risk, and enhance cognitive function. For example, after learning that certain cognitive functions are crucial in safe walking, we tested cognitive-enhancing drugs like Ritalin and found promising results. We’ve also used non-invasive brain stimulation to explore brain-gait interactions with exciting findings that show the brain's ability to adapt positively, even with aging or neurological disease.” “Together with Dr. Brad Manor at Harvard Medical School, we recently received NIH funding to study the effects of six months of home-based, non-invasive brain stimulation on gait, cognitive function, and Dementia risk in older adults,” Hausdorff continued. “Additionally, with Professor Anat Mirelman, we developed a virtual reality approach that enhances traditional treadmill training. By immersing patients in a VR environment with motor and cognitive challenges, they can improve their walking and thinking skills subconsciously through fun, game-like tasks. In a multi-center, randomized study we led, this VR-based method reduced fall risk by 40% more than conventional treadmill walking. The technology was later transferred to a startup, GaitBetter, which is now used in many Israeli HMOs and gaining traction in the US. The (real-world) results have been even more impressive than in our studies. Patients and therapists are enthusiastic, and the system has significantly reduced falls and related costs. This ‘bench-to-bedside’ success has been deeply gratifying, highlighting the practical impact of our research on the health of older adults. We were also among the first to study the link between cognitive function and gait, which is now widely recognized. Our research shows that the ability to walk while performing another task can predict fall risk five years later.” When asked about the secret to his longevity, Hausdorff smiled. Previous Next

  • Ahead Of Yom HaShoah, Cyberwell Reports Rapid Online Spread Of AI-Driven Holocaust Hate Speech | sun-times

Ahead Of Yom HaShoah, Cyberwell Reports Rapid Online Spread Of AI-Driven Holocaust Hate Speech Jewish Connection News Apr 23, 2026 Ahead Of Yom HaShoah, Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 13-14), CyberWell, A NonProfit That Partners With Social Media Platforms To Combat Holocaust Denial And Antisemitism Online, Flags That Holocaust Denial, Distortion And Justification Continues To Circulate Widely Across Social Media, With An Important Twist – Increasingly, Content Is Now Generated By Artificial Intelligence And Surges During Periods Of Geopolitical Crisis. “Generative AI has dramatically lowered the barrier to producing and distributing antisemitic content,” said CyberWell Founder & CEO Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor. “What once required coordination, creativity, basic technical skills and time can now be created instantly and shared at scale. While many platforms already have Holocaust denial removal guidelines and techniques, the emergence of AI-generated content has challenged existing moderation mechanisms. Meanwhile, content creators are also using emojis, the guise of humor, and coded language to avoid detection.” Generative AI systems, such as Sora AI, Suno AI and Veo3, are capable of producing text, images, video, audio and synthetic news-style media, changing the dynamics of online antisemitism. One trend that CyberWell identified was an AI-generated, Pixar-style trailer titled “Caust,” which trivializes the Holocaust by presenting it as child-friendly entertainment, glorifying Hitler, and mocking Holocaust victims. Other AI-produced content has glorified Nazi figures through coded language, animation and parody formats designed to evade detection. Overall, CyberWell’s monitoring has identified a growing volume of AI-generated media that trivializes the Holocaust, glorifies Nazi figures or mocks victims. The content is frequently packaged as memes, parody videos, songs or stylized animation designed to evade automated moderation systems. The material denies, distorts and mocks the Holocaust and remains a persistent component of antisemitic content online, often paired with rhetoric that demonizes Jews. “Content moderation efforts on Social Media Platforms need to adjust to meet the scaling use and abuse of generative AI platforms. This includes expanding integrated partnerships with organizations and technologies that have contextual and subject matter expertise,” Cohen Montemayor added. “Integrating partnerships more deeply can support scalable and effective digital policy enforcement.” CyberWell’s monitoring also shows how quickly Holocaust-related rhetoric can spike during geopolitical crises. During the joint US/Israel war against the Islamic Republic Guard Corps regime, posts containing “Hitler was right” surged dramatically on X, according to social listening tools utilized by CyberWell. In the six months prior to the conflict, the phrase averaged 669 posts per day. However, since the start of the war on February 28th, 2026, usage jumped to a daily average of 847 posts, reflecting a 26 percent increase. The peak occurred on March 1st, the first full day of the war with 3,843 posts, marking a 474 percent increase compared to the prior daily average. Earlier this year, CyberWell documented broader trends in Holocaust-related hate speech in its 2025 annual report on online antisemitism. The research found that Holocaust denial, distortion and mockery remain recurring themes across major Social Media Platforms despite improvements in enforcement against explicit violations. It also noted that antisemitic actors increasingly rely on coded language, irony, and stylized digital media to evade detection. “On Yom HaShoah, remembrance must be matched with vigilance,” Cohen Montemayor said. “As technology evolves and manipulated content becomes increasingly believable, platforms must ensure their policies and Enforcement Infrastructure address the ways this hatred adapts and spreads in the digital age.” CyberWell is an independent, tech-based NonProfit combating the spread of antisemitism online, operating globally. Its AI-technologies monitor Social Media in English and Arabic for posts that promulgate antisemitism, Holocaust denial and promote violence against Jews and their allies based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism. Its analysts review and report this content to platform moderators while indexing all verified posts in the first-ever open database of antisemitic social media posts, cataloguing it openly for transparency at app.cyberwell.org. Through partnerships, education and real-time alerts, CyberWell partners with Social Media Platforms and digital service companies to help them enforce their policies more effectively, promoting proactive steps against online Jew-hate. The scam is called SIM swapping, or SIM hijacking, and it's a concern for law enforcement in the United States and abroad as more than 5,000 people have reported SIM swapping scams to the FBI since 2022. Older adults, caregivers and families can benefit from understanding the warning signs of SIM swapping and taking simple security steps to prevent it from happening. How SIM swapping works A SIM card, or its digital version known as an eSIM, helps connect a phone number to a carrier network. In a SIM swapping scam, a criminal collects basic information about their victim, such as their name, birthdate and address, to try to move the victim's phone number to a SIM card or eSIM profile the criminal controls. Once complete, the scammer gains access to accounts you may be logged into on your phone, such as bank accounts or credit card apps, without touching your phone or being near you. How to protect yourself from SIM swapping scams Preparation is the best protection against SIM swapping. Cell phone users should use strong, unique passwords for each online account - password managers are a helpful tool in creating complex and randomized passwords. Use two-factor authentication where it's offered; this adds an extra layer of security when accessing sensitive accounts. Next, consumers should protect personal information they share online, whether on Social Media or in texts or emails asking for identifying data, such as PIN numbers, birthdates or one-time security codes. Be wary of anyone pushing you to share personal information, particularly if they're pushy with their request or make it sound urgent. Check your mobile carrier to see if it offers SIM protection. For example, Verizon customers can toggle on a protection feature on the carrier's website or app to lock lines on their account to help prevent SIM changes. If you get an unprompted notification that your SIM has been changed, or otherwise suspect you've been targeted in a SIM swapping scam, contact your banks immediately and have them freeze your accounts, including ones the criminals may not have targeted yet. Next, work with your cell phone provider to help regain access to your mobile device. If you're able, share as much information as possible with law enforcement so they can investigate, or at least document trends, in how often this scam occurs. • Midnight Menus - Miami Beach Restaurant Named Florida's Best After-Midnight Food Spot | sun-times

Midnight Menus - Miami Beach Restaurant Named Florida's Best After-Midnight Food Spot South Florida Sun Times Apr 2, 2026 There’s A Special Kind Of Hunger That Only Hits After Midnight - The Moment When The Fridge Is Empty, The Delivery Apps Have Tapped Out, And Every Sensible Person Is Asleep. Yet Across The Country, There’s A Parallel Universe Still Wide Awake: The 1 am Burger Joints Keeping The Lights On, The Taco Trucks That Never Blink, The 24-Hour Diners Quietly Fueling The Country’s Night-Shift Economy, Gamers, Students, Bartenders Packing Down After Service, And Everyone Else Who Simply Doesn’t Keep Daylight Hours. To map this after-hours ecosystem, ACE.com surveyed 3,018 self-identified night owls and asked them to identify the best places in America to eat when everything else is closed. Florida had 3 of the best late night eats in the country: #2. 11th Street Diner, Miami Beach This piece of American history traveled 1,200 miles to reach you. Built in 1948 by the Paramount Dining Car Company of Haledon, New Jersey, the 11th Street Diner served Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for 44 years before it was dismantled, shipped to South Beach, and reassembled in the Art Deco District. It reopened September 11, 1992, and has been feeding Miami Beach's wildest nights ever since. Guy Fieri came for the pork chops. Locals come for thick burgers, milkshakes, and the feeling of stepping into a time machine. The Blueberry Ghost Burger - habanero ghost pepper Monterey jack, onion rings, homemade blueberry marmalade on a potato bun - is not your grandmother's diner fare. The Famous Fried Chicken Sandwich, buttermilk battered thigh with pickled dill aioli, might be the best thing at 3 am. Open Sunday through Thursday until 11:55 pm, 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. #10. Havana Restaurant (Havana Cuban Food), West Palm Beach When Hurricane Andrew blew Roberto Reyes and his family from Miami to West Palm Beach in 1992, they brought their recipes with them. Thirty years later, Havana is a landmark, and the 24-hour walk-up window - what Cubans call the ventanita - is the most famous in Palm Beach County. USA Today named their Cuban sandwich one of the ten best in America. Cars line up at all hours, hoods serving as makeshift tables while drivers unwrap sandwiches still warm from the press. The Tamal Cubano Especial is homestyle cornmeal laced with seasoned pork, wrapped in a corn husk, topped with tender roast pork, sauteed onions, and Havana's signature mojo sauce. The Media Noche - hot-pressed sweet bread, stacked with ham, pork and swiss cheese - offers the same filling as a Cubano with a subtle sweetness that sets it apart. Inside the dining room or at the ventanita, Havana delivers timeless dishes and Miami-meets-Havana energy around the clock. #14. The Floridian Diner, Fort Lauderdale Since 1937, the Floridian has been serving "Food That Pleases" on Las Olas Boulevard - and somehow, through wars and hurricanes and the endless churn of Florida real estate, it never stopped. This 24-hour institution is as much a time capsule as it is a restaurant - brightly painted rooms filled with photos of celebrities, funky chandeliers, and a menu vast enough to get lost in. Rachael Ray stopped by. So did generations of Fort Lauderdale families, plus every late-night reveler who stumbled off the beach looking for pancakes. The Combo Platter - coconut shrimp, onion rings, jalapeno poppers - is diner indulgence at its finest. Open 24 hours, every day, the Floridian is where Fort Lauderdale remembers itself. The top 10 nationwide were: #1. Crispy Burger, Burlington, Vermont Opened in 2024 in Burlington's Old North End, Crispy Burger has quickly become the late-night lifeline for anyone stumbling out of the bars on North Winooski Avenue. This BIPOK- owned fast-food spot keeps it simple: fried chicken and burgers, made fresh on-site, served until 1:30 am most nights (2 am on weekends). Locals are already calling the fried chicken the best in Vermont, and the honey mustard has developed its own following. Clean, friendly, and exactly what you need when the craving hits after midnight. The Crispy Chicken Burger delivers the signature crunch that gives the place its name. The Fried Chicken Wings Combo with Fries is the move when you need more than a sandwich can provide. Open until 1:30 am Sunday through Thursday, 2 am Friday and Saturday. #2. 11th Street Diner, Miami Beach, Florida This piece of American history traveled 1,200 miles to reach you. #3. Taco Bus, Albuquerque, New Mexico Yes, it’s literally a bus – and yes, it’s one of Albuquerque’s essential late-night stops. Parked at Central Avenue, Taco Bus serves massive burgers, tortas, tacos, and loaded plates until 1:30 am on weekends, drawing college students, night-shift workers, and bar-hoppers with equal force. The Taco Bus Burger is stacked to chaos: house-made patties, bacon, cheese, grilled onions, pineapple, jalapeños, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. The Adobada Torta – marinated pork, tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, onions, ham, cheese, mayo, beans – is a handheld feast. Open until 11:30 pm most nights, 1:30 am on Fridays and Saturdays. #4. Diner’s by Upscale Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii The name is a little tongue-in-cheek. Diner’s by Upscale Hawaii is a Kalihi landmark-a straightforward little place and a kitchen that never closes. What makes it "upscale" is the quality – steaks cooked to order, garlic butter lobster tails, fresh ahi, all served on styrofoam at prices that defy Honolulu's reputation. Locals discovered it years ago and kept it to themselves; tourists stumble in at 3 am and wonder why they've never heard of it. The Burger Combo with fries and a drink is the entry point. The Bento #3 – Teri beef, meat jun, Spam, breaded fish with rice and furikake – is a greatest hits of Hawaiian plate lunch. Open 24/7, Upscale Hawaii proves that comfort food doesn't need walls or tablecloths to hit the spot. #5. Round the Clock Diner, York, Pennsylvania A true 24-hour institution, Round the Clock is where York’s night-shift workers, road-trippers, and post-bar crowds gather for bottomless coffee and diner classics served with no fuss. Chrome booths, huge menus, and plates that hit the table fast - it’s everything a Pennsylvania diner should be. Out of the many kinds of Triple Decker Club Sandwiches, the Charbroiled Chicken Breast sandwich is the stack that powers most late-night visits – made with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo – it leaves nothing more to ask for. The Charbroiled Chicken Breast - lemon pepper, Cajun, BBQ, or original – offers a cleaner, protein-forward option. Open 24/7. #6. Good Time Charli’s, Chandler, Arizona Some bars play music. Good Time Charli's lives it. This Chandler craft pub pulses with live funk, Latin, country, and blues most nights of the week, the kind of place where you might walk in for wings and stay to dance. The menu runs deep - hand-crafted burgers, rustic tacos, stone-fired pizza – but when midnight approaches and the kitchen scales back to appetizers, regulars know exactly what to order. The Nachos arrive with house-made tortilla chips, topped with queso blanco, jalapeños, Roma tomatoes, green onions, black olives, and a drizzle of cilantro lime crema. The Buffalo Wings come bone-in or boneless with a dizzying range of flavors and heat levels, from honey BBQ to mango habanero to keto-friendly dry rubs. The full menu runs until 11 pm, but they'll keep feeding you appetizers until 2 am every night of the week. #7. Midnight Diner, Charlotte, North Carolina A gleaming retro rail-car diner in Uptown, Midnight Diner lives up to its name by serving Charlotte around the clock. It’s bright, bustling, and exactly the kind of place where the club crowd and the night-shift workers end up side by side over bottomless coffee. The Country Fried Steak - an 8oz breaded steak smothered in sausage gravy with two sides and a biscuit – is a 2 am classic. The Cool Ranch Wrap, packed with seasoned grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and house ranch, hits lighter but still satisfies. Open 24 hours. #8. South Street Diner, Boston, Massachusetts Built in 1947 by the Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers, the South Street Diner is one of Boston's incredibly few 24-hour full-service restaurants and a landmark in the Leather District. Esquire named it "The Best Late Night Food in the U.S.," which was featured on The Food Network, and several films have used it as a set, from Hiding Out to The Equalizer. Owner Sol Sidell has kept it running for over two decades, adding eggs Benedict, craft beer, and vegan options alongside the milkshakes and banana waffles. The Texas Burger – with bacon, BBQ sauce, grilled onions, and cheddar - is a half-pound Angus beef staple, layered with crispy bacon, house-grilled onions, and tangy BBQ sauce. The Subs & Wraps – served with fries or salad. For a lighter late-night option, the Mediterranean Wrap features grilled chicken or steak tips tossed with feta, olives, and house-made Greek dressing. Open 24 hours, every day. #9. Al’s Deli & Grill, Birmingham, Alabama UAB students speak of Al's in reverent tones usually reserved for championship games. This Mediterranean hole-in-the-wall on 10th Avenue South has been feeding Birmingham's night owls for years - small inside, with a courtyard out back where the fountain burbles alongside your late-night conversation. Al's is famous for its obscenely generous loaded baked potatoes, the kind locals stretch across four meals. The Shrimp Kabob arrives with jumbo shrimp glossed in homemade special sauce, while the Large Baked Potato - blanketed in butter, sour cream, and cheese - is carb-loaded salvation when the bars close and the rest of the city has gone dark. Open until midnight early in the week, Al's pushes to 2 am Thursday and Saturday, and keeps the lights on until 3 am on Fridays. #10. Havana Restaurant (Havana Cuban Food), West Palm Beach, Florida “Late-night food is more than a meal - it’s a moment. Whether you’re clocking out, dancing out, gaming, studying late, or just awake when the rest of the world isn’t, these spots become little anchors in the night,” says a spokesperson of ACE.com. “What stood out in the survey is how personal these places are to people. They are not just restaurants; they’re rituals, lifelines, and sometimes the only warm light on an empty street. Everyone remembers their 2 am favorite.” Previous Next
